Surprisingly YES. I had waited a long time to watch it since it first started on youtube....and then when I did I was like WoW way better than expected...even with the cheesy and campyness , it just somehow works.

The most impressive thing about the show is how young Daniel lurruso looks
He was in his 20s in the first movie.

He's also 3 years older than Johnny but 15 years younger than Kreese. Yes, I checked, Kreese's actor is 75. Damn...
That's what I'm focused on. He was too old to make out with the actress playing his girlfriend in the original movies because he was significantly older than her (in his 20s, IIRC), BUT today he looks younger than some of his peers from back then. Madness.

When Tommy said ‘Put him in a body bag!’ And then showed him in a body bag I laughed out loud, then I felt bad, and then really sad.
It was so dark I thought the power went out.
It was funny, and then the actor actually passed away and it became really sad.
Yeah, the actor actually died. Pretty sure he knew he was on his way out, too, so it was a goodbye for the actors and fans, too.

Referencing a character from a movie that the entire show is based...............how ridiculous!....of honest trailers thinking that was somehow a good joke.
He was basically a father and a teacher to him. Daniel molded his entire personal and professional life around the lessons Miyagi have him. Miyagi meant so much to Daniel so I love when he mentions him

William's acting style is amazing... He literally seems like your everyday guy that is not an actor, but just does stuff, and the camera follows him around. It's so real it both feels like it doesn't belong, but fits perfectly at the same time.
And it‘s incredible funny and moving. He is the soul of the series.
He is the heart of the show. Him and Miguels relationship is the core
Problem is, it makes everyone else, especially Ralph Macchio, seem so forced....

I love this show! Cobra Kai is the best example of how to handle a franchise in the right way. They expanded the story a lot, they gave importance in the right amounts to every character, old and new. The show is not focused in only one character, there are many important characters. This show is not only great, but it also gave more replay value to (and even enhanced) the classic films.
It's the complete opposite of what Disney did to SW with the sequel trilogy.
While I generally agree, I do feel bummed out that they just cut out certain characters. Aisha should've been more of a focus point, not dropped from the show, for instance. A lot of missed potential there. I love how they handled both Kumiko and Ali making their cameo returns, though, giving them proper sized spots without stirring up new drama.
Similarly to Creed for the Rocky franchise.

Everything in the series could have literally been settled in five minutes if they all just had one decent conversation. But instead, they always punch it out. I love it!
If they talked out their problems this would be Dawson's Creek or Gilmore Girls.

The actor that played him actually died not long after filming ended. They knew he was dying so they gave him a sort of tribute episode.
That little road trip subplot was kinda random but now I understand why they did it.
The fact that they are apparently bringing back Terry Silver from Karate Kid 3 for season 4 is going to be nuts. I hope they get the same actor because that dude was great. He was basically playing the Joker in that movie and it was glorious. This shows pretty silly at times but if Terry Silver is anything like he was in KK3 this shows going full looney tunes.

The continuity in the writing is honestly the biggest reason I keep watching the show. As a young millennial who has seen so many properties try and capitalize on my young sense of nostalgia, but clearly not care about the details of the story they are trying to capitalize on, Cobra Kai is super refreshing. I also really like the way it analyzes society and classic tv tropes.

This was a great example of reviving a great series. Getting the original actors and paying respect to the original characters with a good plot line.

The fact that it carries on the original 80s successfully while maintaining its soul unlike other franchise with higher budgets like Star Wars and Terminator tells you how awesome Cobra Kai is.
