I figured it out! It's Johnny Depp in the character of the Mad Hatter in the Alice in Wonderland movie!
When that day comes, I shall futterwaken... vigorously. -Mad Hatter
ah man i thought it was a will ferrell film!
I thought it was Catherine Zeta-Jones Jones in Mask of Zorro “He was vigorous father; very vigorous.”
@@ashupershpie She probably said that but I was thinking of the Johnny Depp clip.
Ashley Edlen mmmmm
"Are you gonna watch your show with Christine in it?" -my three year old daughter
I may be enjoying your Vlogust way too much.
LOL!
I wish you could extend this forever, a video a day. I'd hate for u to be overworked....but the selfish side of me truly enjoys the frequency and enjoys u and ur channel oh so much. I just genuinely like u so much. Your personality and how casual u are and authentic. It's refreshing. You should be more popular, def need more subs.....but a small part of me wants to keep u a secret from the potential of "mainstream ruin". Never change. Much luv from New York 😄😉💕
TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! :)
Sounds like you want to shove a bun in her oven?.. Or even maybe take her trash out the rear?
@@dereksmallsuk Nahhhh, but I'm not against it....lmfao. If you don't get what I'm saying by my comment maybe it's time for a nap....💁
You screaming over the blender never gets old 😂😂😂
When I grill corn, i peel back the husk but dont pull it off. I use either butter or mayo sometimes and spices, other times i wrap bacon around it. Then i put the husk back up and grill it.
I'm from Iowa, so i feel like I have corn authority! Lol
jwoody me too! I typically smear with butter before wrapping with bacon and then wrapping in foil...so delicious.
When people say your portions are too small, I think they have to remember that your kids are constantly snacking (homemade bread, fruit, etc.) I don't mean that as a bad thing either. It's not like if one of them came up to you and said they were hungry you would tell them "no" or "that's too bad". Plus a lot of times you have leftovers. I'm sure your family could eat them if they were still hungry and you wouldn't begrudge that 🤷
Find a small kitchen cart you can wheel out of your pantry into the kitchen
Ty for sharing the results of your father in-laws blood sugar it has encouraged me greatly to go back and write your meal plan down and get the ingredients and see if this will help me as well . Very grateful .
Christine I think I know why people say you dont feed your family enough
A note: I am on a weightloss journey and am seeing how big portions actually are/how much food I used to over eat
I think its because a lot of people just eat big portions. Going to a restaurant or some people's homes, people are served big meals and are used to seeing that. I think its that people are so used to being served big portions that seeing a normal healthy serving size is small. Theres a big difference in how much pasta I used to eat at dinner versus an actual healthy serving size. I hope I made sense!
The old saying is a serving of meat is the size of a deck of cards. Vast majority of restaurants have huge servings though so somewhere along the line that came to be seen as normal.
You did make sense! We eat with our eyes first, then our noses, and then our mouths. Our stomach does not care at all about how it looks or smells or tastes, after all. Nor any other part of our body. Our eyes discern things like colour, spots, wrinkles and we grow up associating these with freshness (even if it's not actually indicative of freshness). Then we smell it to check for decay or toxins (even if we cannot actually smell them). Finally, the taste test, which also tests texture and consistency. While oral defensiveness is just a natural mechanism for some people and should never be ridiculed, most people have grown up with the luxury of ruling out entire food groups based on texture. Have you noticed that most sweet foods have a similar texture or consistency? We are creatures of habit and just as we like to try new things we crave what is familiar to us. Thus, if some foreign particle is there, on our plate, it's an offender and most people will reject it. Of course, if you put something in your mouth and it tastes like it's gone off, please spit it out and throw the rest away. Never continue eating something that you think might be bad!
what a treasure it would be to be a guest in your home, you can tell how much you love your family based on all the work you put into making their stay comfortable 💚
I’m so tired of you having to justify your servings. People must be overeating or not supplementing with fruits and veggies. I feel like your servings are fine for the most part! I personally like more chicken 😂 but I think your servings are very normal.
I have to agree. You are giving your family the correct size portions of food. American food culture (generalizing) is that more is better. This is what makes us overweight. Your family looks healthy and happy. People like to criticize and be mean to others just to do so. Perhaps they should turn the camera on themselves, put it up on CZcams and see what judgements come there way.
I hope you have a fantastic day!
I'm with Shawna. Actually, it was nice to see another family prepare food and portions similar to mine. I would make about 1.25lb of meat for my family of six most nights with usually salad and potatoes on the sides. They never went hungry and were healthy. Now, truth be told, with only me and a 17yo and 19yo in the home I do fix more meat/person. Part of it is, my son is over 6' 2" and very ectomorph.
Sorry your over the vlogs but I definitely love watching you everyday!
Can I just say I think you have the biggest heart, and sometimes you make me tear up with just how much you care about others. All the work and research you poured into figuring out meals for your father-in-law was incredible. I will echo his sentiment that if folks leave your table hungry, it's their own fault. I am the oldest of 9 children (for math wizards, that's a family of 11 - AND my parents hosted exchange students occasionally). We always ate dinner as a family and portions of the entree were always counted/measured. HOWEVER, there was always plenty of sides/veggies and none of us were allowed to complain we didn't get enough to eat if there was still food on the table. IF we managed to clear all the food, there was always a bowl of apples and oranges in the kitchen we could help ourselves to. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I think you feed your family more than enough - hello! That's why you have leftovers! Keep the videos coming. Living for this Vlogust!
I think most people are too use to “super sized” portions and over eat. Stop eating when you’re comfortable, not when you’re full. Smaller plates help avoid overeating too
Huge portions also are part of the problem when it comes to food waste.
My boyfriend has an 8 year old son, and I can confirm that he can eat a whole cantaloupe after a hearty dinner as well. I'm always amazed, how that much volume can fit in a boy's stomach :)
I love these ideas! What a great example of how diet can make a big difference.
Being a diabetic I really appreciate this video. Thanks for letting us see that you can have good food that is diabetic ok!
I'm so glad the meal plan worked for your father-in-law. I watched my uncle struggle with diabetes for nearly 20 years. Now, his kidneys have failed and he's developed intolerances to a TON of foods. I think diabetes education is so important because most people have no clue the damage it can cause to other body systems! Diabetes is a lot more than blood sugar levels!
Even with education, some people just won't make the necessary changes. My mother is a frustrating case in point.
@@73cidalia yep. My dad is the same. He has lost his leg to diabetes. Might have to lose his other one. He is in kidney failure and heart failure. He has already had a triple bypass. They can't do any more heart surgeries because the diabetes has eaten away at all viable veins. He still continues on like he is doing all the right things but he isn't. At this point, we have given up and just letting him do whatever because the damage is irreversible and he's dying so what's the point.
"It's like I'm old or something." Girl, me too.
Yay! The blender scream. Every time I see you with the blender I'm filled with antici.........pation.
i now also sometimes scream when i use the blender lol! my 4 year old and my toddlers love it 😍
The worm comment killed me! Lol they do look weird lol
I thought I was the only one who loved the blender screaming too,
I thought I was just weird!! Too funny
Hayley’s “oh that’s DIFFERENT” reaction to the egg cups cracked me up 😂
Also, I am definitely going to be trying that lemon and Dijon marinade. Sounds delicious!
I’m diabetic, that was so nice of you to research and have delicious meals that were also nutritious . No wonder his blood sugar was lower. Proof that diabetics can eat well with no carbs when they(we) eat the right things. Good job, he’s lucky to have you as a daughter-in-law. Peggy
When I wrap things with bacon I cut each bacon strip in half lengthwise so you have 2 thin strips to wrap on each item and then secure with toothpicks.
Christine - u did a great job prepping and getting everything in line to properly take care of the diabetic family member! Pat yourself on the back! That’s awesome. I’m sure he felt very at ease and comfortable in your home.
You talking about cauliflower reminded me of something that happened the other day.
So my 12yo said to me “why do I need to eat cauliflower?”
I said “it’s good for you” (standard mum reply)
He said “but how?” (He has autism. He needs to know everything)
So I googled cauliflower nutrition...I had no idea it’s that good for you!
When I make keto egg bites, I use a muffin tin. Wrap bacon around the side, crack an egg in it and top it with shredded cheese. Bake it in the oven and they come out perfectly.
I also do this but I use a ham slice in the muffin tin. Then put veggies inside and crack egg over it.
I have always found that if I made fruits and vegetables in pretty shapes and colors and put it on barbecue skewers, kids would eat anything I put in front of them.
Talking to yourself and asking other people if your not going crazy is mom life to the fullest
Tip for the corn, my dad used to do bacon wrapped corn, take the fuzz out but leave the green outer layer on, peel it back. Wrap the bacon around the corn, put the green leaves back up around it and then wrap in some foil to keep in place.
People say you don't have enough food because most of us eat too much!! Your meals always look very healthy to me and no one looks deprived OR overweight! I think you do a great job!
We are so used to large meals today. I love vintage crockery and I always marvel at how much smaller the dinner plates are compared to modern day plates.
I seriously laughed for a full minute when you showed us the egg cups out of the instant pot. I overfill all the time! We tend to have a go big or go home mentality in our household. Loved it!
Cucumbers are sooooo good. We grow them out in the garden and quick tip: we always leave one of them to grow up to like almost two ft and then take out the seeds, let them dry out in the sun and then bag them up to plant next year!! Don’t remember the last time we bought cucumbers.
Promise I will NEVER be sick of you! You are AWESOME!
I received a kitchen aide mixer as (very generous) wedding present, but barely used it during our first three years of marriage because it's so heavy. We had tiny apartment kitchens where we had no counter space to spare, so the mixer lived in a closet and was only brought out when really necessary. Now that we have a bigger kitchen where it can live in a corner of the counter, I use it at least weekly!
Forget what people say about your portion sizes, if you haven’t already, your family is very healthy and happy. Also, they have the chocolate coconut almonds at Trader Joe’s... probably less expensive at Costco. Thank you for posting a video for alternative eating plans, it’s amazing how quickly things like diabetes respond to better food choices.
So thoughtful of you to make a real effort to center all the family's meals around what is healthiest for a diabetic! I've seen some of your vids where at first glance it looked like too little protein (two chicken breasts for the entire family's meal), but then did the 'math' and realized each person got aprx 4oz - the recommended serving size for most people. Americans eat far too much protein, sugar and flour. Thank goodness many of us are now making smarter choices, and restaurants/stores are changing in response to it.
The cauliflower mashed potatoes. Try streaming the cauliflower in instant pot. I put two bags of frozen cauliflower and one russet potatoe cut up in the steamer basket for four minutes. Add seasoning and two tbsp of cream cheese. That's it stir with a spoon to mash so easy guys.
I've truly enjoyed watching these daily videos so much! Thank you for taking the time to make them, and I'm happy that your father in law's sugar's were great during his stay at your home!! 💙
Just learned that I have gestational diabetes so this comes in suuuuuper handy!
Christine! You are awesome! I am going to try the egg bites. I am so encouraged by your recent cooking videos, because I can eat low carb foods, tweak my own blood sugar and possibly not feel deprived, because I have been relegated to eating bland rabbit food. I love to cook, I love to eat and I’d love to control my blood sugar, so that I can live longer. So thankful to you for these videos and for your humor and humility and candor about what doing these videos has even taught you. God Bless you and your family. 🙏🏻🤗💕
You really don't need to justify your portions. Your family is healthy and unfortunately that is not the norm. Love your energy and your dedication to your family.
Awesome video! So happy to hear that your father in law enjoyed the food and it helped with his blood sugar. Much love to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
After Christmas I got ornament holders so I can take popcorn balls to surprise my nieces and nephews at family gatherings. I've never put ornaments into the container.
When they saw it? 😍 Wow!
I am loving your vlogs daily. I watch other vloggers that post daily but you are by far the most entertaining. I know (or don't) how much work this must be. But I am loving AUGUST this year!!!! Thanks Beverly from Oklahoma
I grew up used to eating HUGE portions like it was normal. I have my own family now and I'm striving to be like you with food portions!
2:53 Auto-captions: "...I bought myself a nude toy." 😆
LOL!
Oh my GOSH! I love how honest and real you are. Appliances are too heavy to put away correctly!!
Thanks for providing the feedback about your father-in-law and how his blood sugar reacted- super awesome to hear that he saw improvement in such a short time!
I'd never tire of you. I've loved every minute of Vlogest!!
Your mom is so funny! I love watching u 2 together!!
I love it! You did great! It was no pushy and he saw a difference. So did she, sounds like a great visit!
Honestly the blending scream cut is one of the funniest things ever, never take it out please
My bff has a shelf that is in her cupboard that lifts up to counter height that she has her kitchen aid on , BRILLIANT.
Love Vlogust. Loving every day vlogs!
I always think you have lots of delicious looking food. I never think you all don't eat enough! You are an amazing momma!
Great job girl! You put a lot of care an thought in food for your father in-law! I think all looked awesome , yum!
Oh, those coconut almonds! We are addicted! They are the best! Loved the video. Loving Vlogust!
My husband and I rode part of the Mickelson Trail on our horses. We are from Tennessee and enjoy riding in the Black Hills.
This was one of my favorite videos you’ve done!!
That is so true. My kids eat a whole dinner plate of fruit and veggies for an after school snack.
I’m gonna cry when Vogest is over!!! I love the daily videos!!
All the meals look delicious!!! Plenty of food, variety, and healthy!
I absolutely love your videos, please keep it up!
You crack me up, loved all the food in this video. Stay safe and god bless you all xxx
My newly turned 9 year old loves melon! She will absolutely polish off a honeydew or cantaloupe on her own at a meal or snack or over a day. I don’t know how she does it! But Ryan is not alone!
Please tell me that food processor has a cheese grater disk. Every time I see you grate cheese I think about that! It’s THE BEST and keeps your wrists pain-free 😊. I also love cucumbers and use the slicing disk to make that happen in a matter of minutes. Oh, and here’s a tip to meal prep it. When you store away the cucumber, try to put The slices back together so the flesh doesn’t get much air, and store it in a sealed container with half a lime or lemon so the acid helps keep it fresh. This has saved so much time and effort on making salads ahead of time.
I am not sick of you! I love Vlog-ust... Your face is refreshing daily! It must be ALOT bit I sure do appreciate your efforts!
I can't even explain how much I love your channel!! ♥️♥️ I'm totally loving that you post Evey day right now 😂😂
Say what?! My vegetable peeler does work in both directions!!! Thanks Frugal Fit Mom, you just made my day.
Just watching this made me hungry. Everything looked delicious.
My husband and some family members a diabetic do these recipes are much appreciated!😊
So happy your meal plan was a success ♡
So great how well you accommodated your father in law’s dietary restrictions, I’m sure it was so nice for him not to worry and still eat delicious food! Loving vlogust, excited for tomorrow!!!
If you see Thai, Japanese, and Koreans, they have lots of side dishes but very small portions. We fill our tummies with rice but we balance it out with lots of veggies.
Your portions look fine to me and your family looks super healthy. I wouldn't mind what people say.
Love your mom!
I love your food recipes. So much variety and always do able...just good food.
100% try the large ice cubes. They melt more slowly which also helps with watering down drinks. I use silicone molds and dump them in a bowl once frozen for quick access. ♡ it!!
Hi Christine and all family, I hope you are all well. You could pop your kitchen aid onto a small plant trolley that has wheels and wheel it in and out of your pantry. Stay safe all and best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺👋💐
The only things that stay out on my counter are the coffee pot (daily use) and the kitchen aide (too heavy to move), all the other appliances get put in the pantry.
Instapot and Kitchen aid go on a rolling cart (small island) that I roll out of my pantry when I use and roll back when I am done. On the plus side I can put them on the floor and use the cart for parties and holidays :-) {sing Roll out, roll out- in your head when you read this}
I DON'T want to hear another thing about your "portion sizes."
There is so much food waste and encouraged overeating already people don't need to shame you unnecessarily for your appropriately sized portions.
Speaking as a mom of very active children, when kids are very active they sometimes aren't even that hungry. When they are going through growth spurts they can devour everything so it's important to give them an appropriate sized portion and let them decide if they are still hungry or not and keep that communication open instead of putting large plates together with no real health advantage.
When you cook minimally processed foods like you do they are actually more filling because the food is real balanced food and not just manufactured filler-heavy calories.
Be nice people
Say it louder for the people in the back
I've loved Vlogust.
Your portion are just fine, in Europe this is normally portioned food. I like the diversity of choice that’s always on your table and lots of fiber with lots of veggies and fruits that’s very filling. None of you look like you’re missing meals 🙃! But I remember from my visits that the greens are expensive in the US . In Denmark we pay 4$ for 10 🍏 for exemple 🤑!
Two things: I did notice that your portions are smaller. However, they're the correct
portion size and the reason why your family is not overweight. Of course we don't see snacking that goes on, which I assume does occur! The second thing is you had asked previously what were our favorite things about Costco. One of my favorite things is clothes! Awesome deals on jackets, shorts, tops, etc. I usually don't buy their shoes, but, wow, great deals on other pieces of clothing! Have fun!! Looks like you're already hooked on a treat!
Loved seeing what you did for your father-in-law. My husband is pre-diabetic and we are working on the low carb way of eating, as well as biking, walking, etc. Also, loving vlogust!
I have a pantry where I keep my bigger appliances and I have easu access to those items.
I just want to thank you for making me laugh while watching your videos. They're awesome!
My pleasure!!
My bf is an athlete, so low carb in our house is nearly impossible. But I do adjust our portions to fit our needs. He gets most of the pasta, and I give myself more veggies.
I leave my kitchenaid on the counter as a statement piece, but I'm very minimal with what else is allowed on the counter. Oil bottles, some decorative wood cutting boards, my toaster oven, and frequent use "condiments" (butter, peanut butter, honey, and syrup). I have a large kitchen so my counters aren't cluttered at all.
😲this is one of your best videos. Ever ..
But wait.... there’s more. Thoroughly enjoying august. You’re amazing and thoughtful with your meal planning.
My kitchenaid goes under my sink, so it’s a weighted squat plus two steps to put it on the counter. My mom added one of those cupboards that swings out and up for hers, so she just lifts, uses, and lowers.
U have really really helped. U work so hard. Love vlog miss. Keep u the amazing work. Love ur family. Canada 🇨🇦 Ontario
I make turkey meatballs/meatloaf in the egg bite molds. I use the Instant pot for cooking.
Use a little rolling cart for your big appliances and you can hide it in your pantry when you're done.
I dont like a bunch if stuff on my counters either, but i do leave my kitchen aid out...it is parked beside the microwave so it isnt in the way...and, yes those mixers are VERY heavy...loving vlogust...thanks for sharing
‘I’m getting sick of myself!’ Ha! Love it!!!!! Absolutely loving these videos hun. I had gestational which rolled into Type 2 Diabetes and I carried that for a few years until I lost 200lbs and goodbye Diabetes! Still enjoying these videos 🥰🙌🙏
Loving the daily uploads! I think it's very tiring for you but I'll enjoy it while it's here.
I’m a type 1 diabetic, you did a great job meal planning and seeing that his sugars were in a good range!
Your meals were likely lower carb than what he's been eating at home. I think your MIL is using the old diabetic rules, too many carbs. Not her fault, a lot of doctors still promote it.
I make those egg things in the oven. I use the silicon muffin cups in a muffin pan and bake @ 350 for like 15 minutes (or till done). Inserting a toothpick till it comes out clean is a good indicator. Anyway, they have a different texture when baked in the oven. Just fyi. You can always look up a recipe, lol.
