So in case Asmons reads and sees this...Gamers Nexus got in contact with a lot of past employees and helped some of them relocate to new jobs in tech fields. So they did more than just what was discussed here. They've done a story on this before, and they recently put out a poll asking if people would want to see a deep dive into CZcams and their support network over the video incorrectly tagged as 18+.

@@mrbeans2425 I unfortunately don't remember the name of the video. it's been a while, since they talked about it back when it was all fresh news. From what I can remember, they had ex-employees email them and they used connections in the industry to help those people find new work. It wasn't everyone, of course, but just that they were willing to do that extra work at all was fantastic. As was stated in the video though, this isn't the norm, and they don't usually do these kinds of stories. I think the most recent one they did before this was covering a lot of stuff Newegg was doing(Also being customers themselves) like sending broken parts out or refusing RMAs. And I think that was super early in the year this year, or late last year.

HD opens in December 20xx and I should have been paid by end of January next year. I end up having to lien the property. Wait. File law suit. Wait. Finally around September of that year I am able to summons general contractor for deposition, so they can answer as to why they haven’t paid me my final 150k. So they finally pay. Waiting for that money, I can’t pay my vendors on time so I’m paying interest, can’t pay my taxes on time so I get hit with penalties. Artesian had a SOLID business model and should have become a success story. Yes, even with GPU and general IT supply issues from the past couple of years, I think this business model would have struggled, but with solid leadership and determination it could have succeeded.
Instead, Noah Katz turned out to be a toxic, cancerous snowflake beta who had no clue whatsoever how to run an actual business AND was completely terrible at being a sociable person on-stream.

"Justice boner" is my new favorite phrase for how I feel about seeing people get justice.
Like when Morgan Tremaine responded to Elaine in kind when she asked him about seeking 15 minutes of fame during the JD trial by testifying about TMZ (who tried to stop him from testifying).
Seeing people acting despicably and getting their behavior called out is satisfying. I hope the customers, contractors, and employees get actual justice somehow. Is there a way to prevent the auction and get their PCs back? Is there a way to recover their money?
This hurts my heart, knowing how it feels to lose 7 years worth of school documents, photos, games/game progress, and diary entries from my upgraded laptop because my ex never returned it to me. Especially not knowing if my laptop ever ended up in anyone else's hands with all of my information on it. I'm really glad he brought this up.
I was mostly computerless for 3 years, sharing a laptop for 2 years and not having one at all for 1 year. I can't imagine spending money, probably in the thousands, to have my computer modded then having to turn around and drop a several more thousand to get a completely new computer.

Always remove your drives when sending in a PC for repair. I don't understand how people don't do this, not blaming them though. It's all on Artesian for not telling their customers to remove the drives first. Years ago when I wanted to send my laptop in for repair (still under guarantee), the instructions I received for how to do so included a step that said to open it up and remove all drives and M.2 SSD's before sending it in. Now that's what I call caring for your customers! Shout out to Germany-based Tuxedo computers for caring about data security and privacy.
And yes, I realize opening up some laptops is not user friendly, so it can be forgiven. But Artesian had this happen with DESKTOP computers of all things!

What if you have a drive failure or the drive is part of the problem?
Or, because you just don't know much about computers, actually do some damage to it, if it's one of those really hard to open laptops, or you bend a SATA connector (I accidentally
achieved that when I had a sata ssd connected to a right angle sata connecter, one accidental bad tug and it was over)
Making a backup is always good, but taking the drive out, really depends on the device you're handling + competency + the actual problem

I had already used a live usb to test the hardware and attached the drives to another pc so I could already tell them what they needed to know. I've worked in a somewhat similar company (Assembling computers, primarily for resale by small computer stores rather than direct to the public though) that collapsed (this was a long time ago and wouldn't be featured on CZcams, because it didn't exist then). The fact that the warehouse was left almost like a time capsule is not surprising. When something like this happens, it happens fast. All the staff would be told to stop what they are doing and assemble, then the news broken. Then you would only be allowed back in to retrieve personal possessions (sometimes not immediately, some staff had their own tools etc, that the receivers would not allow out immediately). In terms of selling off warranty returns and repairs, at least where I was that did not happen, those items are not the property of the company and they cannot sell them. In my case, the returns department people kept working after the business closed in order to process the pending warranty items or return them to the customer.
For customers who have paid for new items that they haven't received, welcome to being an unsecured creditor, you'll maybe get 10cents in the dollar back, if you're lucky. What typically happens is that receivers come in, figure out how much capital is left in the company and rack up that much in fees and charges (they charge insane rates). Then they declare that there's nothing left and walk off leaving everyone else screwed. Luckily for me, we had a government scheme that guaranteed workers pay and entitlements in the event of a company going bust (thanks to the cousin of our former Prime Minister having their company go bust and there being no money to pay the wages, legislation just happened to be introduced to cover them).
The reason for the collapse may be several. From looking at their very fast rise, they may have grown too fast, over-reached on stock or debt and got caught in a crunch. It seems that the boss might have done some shady shit, which happened in my case too, but that wasn't the primary cause for the collapse, or perhaps his actions were the primary cause. There are usually several reasons for a collapse.

Not to mention the $$ they invest into the warehouse to create for the non-standard tenant in the first place.
The extra walls, insulation, extra electrical work done.... GN noted it took months of works to retrofit the warehouse for Artesian - my company is moving warehouses shortly and a 7k sqft warehouse is $60k for insulating the roof ALONE. Which the landlords of the new place agreed to do for a 10k sqft warehouse which I would assume is a 80-90k investment or around that.
That warehouse is at least 30k sqft, not including office spaces from what I can estimate. Its absolutely insane the cost the landlords probably put in to appease the company, who's financial statements probably looked really good so they agreed to the work done on the warehouse. Overall the landlords probably spent 250k (if already insulated) up to more than 500k for modifying the warehouse in that area of California.

Written in Akkadian cuneiform, it is considered to be the oldest known written complaint. It is currently kept in the British Museum.[2]
Ea-nasir travelled to Dilmun to buy copper and returned to sell it in Mesopotamia. On one particular occasion, he had agreed to sell copper ingots to Nanni. Nanni sent his servant with the money to complete the transaction.[3] The copper was considered by Nanni to be sub-standard[4] and not accepted. "

So I had never heard of "Artesian Builds" before now, and this was most interesting to watch, but all the time I kept thinking to myself why did they call it artesian builds? They were aware that artesian is completely different to artisan right?

You could probably guess the level of care at the company by their choice of NAME... did they, perhaps, intend to be "Artisan" builds... "Artesian" would be a well. On second thought, a deep hole people toss money and wishes into is a bit on the nose..

Watching at the 24min mark with the internal employee conversations, Noah reminds me of someone from the play Hamilton surprisingly. He reminds me of Aaron Burr in his song ‘I want to be in the room where it happens’. Noah seems to want to sit at the table with bigger players desperately and be a ‘big boy’ but fails to realize that in order to get there you need something of value to bring to the table before ever being allowed to approach. And just like Aaron Burr, wanting to be there for the sake of being there will in fact never get him there.

I worked at an IT company, it was one of the most prestigious ones where I live, the only person who had anything to do with IT was the main owner, all the rest were electrical engineers, mechanical ones, one of the other owners was a ballistic rocket expert lol.
We basically mostly worked for other IT companies where the companies would bring other people's PCs if they couldn't fix it. I'm saying this because that job made me realise all these IT people generally don't really know how to actually fix the computers printers etc.

The East Coast build had better cable management than the West Coast build. I think that was the point being relayed in the comparison. Also the East Coast build utilized a fan controller which is that rectangular block in the middle, West build not have a fan controller just solely depending on the controls from the bios. You can also see cables were routed over the fans airway on the West Coast build. Ultimately, they were trying to show that East Coast was doing more and producing higher quality builds.

Later in the video its explained that the family sat at the c-suite. It looks like they actually ran the company, but they created the company in their sons name and “loaned” the money to him. In reality, they were officers and/or had major decision ability, so they controlled the money they “loaned”.
The son was just their useful idiot to carry the risk.
All around, amazing in-depth work by gamers nexus. Like most corporate failures, it’s a symphony of wtf moments that have been compounding for a while. I wonder how much of that $20MM in annual revenue, was profit. Computer parts usually have razor thin profit margins, and 60-70 employees plus that big warehouse, are very expensive. The average is around 5%. Let's say they were able to make 10%, that's about $2MM a year, but you haven't added in salaries, insurance, leasing/buying the space, etc. It sounds like a lot but maybe wasn't very profitable.
