On June 15, 2023, police responded to an overdose call at a nursing home in Waukesha, WI. The overdose was caused by a new employee who had consumed a large amount of pure vanilla extract. While at the hospital, the female employee continued to be combative, insulting and spitting at both the officers and hospital staff.

0:36 what’s with this b*tch?
I’m sorry, I can’t believe I’m commenting this but please take this video down. I do support this channel, but this lady is suicidal. I know this channel is educational for the public but for this woman if she sees this video has been uploaded to the Internet, she might do the unthinkable. I obviously don’t know her, but that doesn’t matter, I do know that jail gives people an opportunity to think about what they’ve done and changed their lives for the better and this woman still has time. I’m sure this video has been uploaded a whole bunch of other places, but please delete it.
Beginner stuff. I was at .42 last time I went to detox and I was cognizant/ fully aware of what what going on. Able to walk, talk, sign papers to get in. Maybe a little scatter minded, but otherwise you'd think I was two beers in.

No kidding, they even spoke with an attitude it seemed as well
Nursing homes, for whatever reason, always have the most batshit insane employee drama. Hard drugs, meltdowns, assaults (on each other), and too many slashed tires to count. That won’t even get them fired, because there’s no applicant willing to replace them in this climate.
Every once in a while, a visitor will go off in the lobby. Residents sometimes get wild too, but that’s why they’re there, so that’s entirely within their right 🤣

"Yaw, son, don be messin' wif dat 'stract. Dat mess you up, son."
That's exactly what I thought too. At least when she gets caught being drunk she's not on an illegal substance. Alcohol and crack are both awful to be addicted to but I always felt like crack was one of the more extreme option.

When they asked if she was okay and she broke down, I felt for her. Not enough people care about her. Having someone actually care about you can release a lot of emotions, especially when you're self-aware enough to know that you are not okay.
Well, it's not illegal to have smoked crack. It's illegal to HAVE crack.
It shows how big cops hearts are, having her spitting on them and doing other things but then the cops still being sweet and making sure she was okay. I love that police can put all that aside and care more about the persons wellbeing then their own. Its my dream to be a cop one day.

The irony of her being a healthcare worker yet treating the people looking after her like this is unreal
Gotta remember this isn’t general healthcare but hospice/senior living.
There is a lot of abuse, mistreatment, and mismanagement of seniors all across the country, this is just a symptom of a larger problem.
There needs to be a certification or further examination of hospice/end of life caretakers, but please don’t blame this on the wider medicinal community.
I can say assuredly, she would’ve been treated much differently (in a human way) if she had willingly given her care to actual healthcare workers instead of the police.
Police are not the response we should be giving clearly mentally impaired individuals. This doesn’t just extend to “known” mental disorders.
As alcoholism was just added the the DSM in 2016, there needs to be a specialized unit trained for dealing with the symptoms of a mental health crisis.
Sorry for the wall of text, it’s just I work in senior healthcare and would be physical repulsed if any of my coworkers showed up in this state.

@@m.choudry4898 yeah 1.5 years is excessive even with a prior record this was essentially drunk and disorderly
Why not? The act, in and of itself, is assault. It shouldn't depend on waiting to test the saliva and see if the spitter has HIV or some other contagious disease; all spit should be treated the same: potentially deadly. All bodily fluids are. This woman expelled it with intention and put those on the receiving end at risk, especially if she were a (potential) drug addict. Once someone starts spitting, sh!t gets real.
A lethal blood alcohol level is essentially >0.4%. The fact that she was at 0.39% is pretty scary.
The narrator stated the BAC was .039 not .39.
Some chronic alcoholics can tolerate levels of alcohol that would be lethal to the average human. One of my family members once told me she had a patient who had consumed multiple bottles of vodka as well as another substance (cooking wine?). The first police officer needs to be award something. He approached an individual who was clearly in a mental health issue, with compassion, understanding and "meeting her where she's at". For someone who works in mental health, i applaud this officer with everything he did, even when she spat at the EMT/EMS.
"Clearly in a mental health issue...." I'm firstly irritated by these Orwellian constructions. "in an issue..." Seriously. Nobody behaves badly anymore. Nobody makes poor choices. Nobody is responsible for their behaviour. Nobody is just a "nasty piece of work" who most likely treats people abominably when sober, but in a passive-aggressive way with a smile, and when under the influence of something the inhibitions are numbed and the false smile fades and it is just pure nasty.
The Orwellian language is worrying. "in a mental health issue." If you work in mental health it is a danger sign for what is going on in that industry.
@@annatanneberger1Is this you or the ignorance talking? No one said she was not responsible for her actions, and no one is just a ‘nasty piece of shit’ thats not how this works. Things are more complex than that.

My father was a police officer and a suspect spit on him. He, my mother, & little sister got hepatitis. Parents were hospitalized. It was Christmas.
😮that scary, 😢
The irony of the "you're killing me smalls" picture on the wall is the best representation of how messed up this whole situation is. I hope she gets the help she needs.
You're so fresh and steezy
I saw that - what does it mean?
@@maryolivertwistedsister oh ok thx. I thought it was such a weird thing to hang in the HR office of a nursing home!
@PeachysMom that's my mom's office and she has it up because of how short she is lol
@@mythcrackers8341- Lol what did she have to say about this lady’s crazy episode there?
It’s crazy how someone can love baking that much.
It started off with some basil leaf... always the gateway stuff in baking to harder vanilla extract.
You know vanilla extract is a really high level of alcohol, right? It's like 80 proof.
@@cecilkeith1951 No 💩 Sherlock
I'm actually one of those ones who enjoy baking! In fact, I love baking more than I like cooking.
But , as a former addict , i obviously knew that vanilla extract is mostly made up of alcohol , but it still never occurred to me to drink it , even in times , that I needed something , the most! 😂🤦♀
This woman is obviously struggling with addiction, and I pray that she, too, will be able to conquer her demons as well.
Seeing her in such a horrible state was just another reminder to myself as to what I fight for every single , day , and why I refuse to go back to the lifestyle that I once lived!
Today, I am approximately one week shy of 5 years in my recovery and 3 solid years in my sobriety and I owe all my gratitude and appreciation to not only my family but my Savior , most of all , because , without them , God only knows where I would be! ❤
@@sunshinebaby92 That’s awesome! Congratulations! Well for what it’s worth I’m rooting for you.
If you ever make a bad impression on your first day, think of this fine lady.
It’s so scary how common it is now for people (usually teens /severe alcoholics) to purchase and subsequently consume vanilla extract for the sole purpose of becoming intoxicated by its insanely potent alcohol content. What’s even scarier is I don’t see many people explaining how dangerous that extract is regardless of the alcohol content, as the amount of concentrated chemicals in o n e small bottle, can last months & months if used for it’s intended purpose; aka baking/cooking. This woman is lucky to be alive, as someone her size having a BAC of 0.39 is insanely high, and if they hadn’t caught it sooner, I don’t doubt that it would’ve gone above 0.50 (as it hadn’t full metabolized yet), which could easily kill her. I was a functioning alcoholic for years, and could walk around/act completely sober with a BAC hovering around 0.30, and that’s after abusing alcohol for a decade. I’m not just saying that to be all, “look how bad I was so give me sympathy for quitting”, I’m saying it to explain the amount of alcohol I had to consume over a 10 year period to function at that level. Thank god I was a ‘quiet, drink at home alone, solitary’ drinker, so I never put others lives in danger other than my own. No drunk driving, no altercations, no arrests etc. The only reason I stopped, full transparency, is because of what I did to my health. When I quit, it took over a year to stop shaking every.single.day, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. They don’t tell you that yes ‘heroin’ withdrawal is hell, BUT it isn’t fatal, you up just feel like you’re going to die. Alcohol withdrawal can quite literally take your life via the violent grand mal (aka tonic clonic) seizures you have while detoxing. Had to have my gallbladder removed, I now have a condition called chronic pancreatitis (the most painful thing I’ve ever been through, and I was a sponsored skater for 6 years undergoing majorly surgery on my spine), and now I’ll have to take medicine for that AND the epilepsy I developed for being drunk for y e a r s at a time. My 7 year sobriety date was 2 weeks ago. Never end up like me, I beg you. All love! ❤

Her: “Do I still get a pension?”
This happened literally up the street from me, and I hope she gets the help she needs one day. Someone who is drinking vanilla to get inebriated OBVIOUSLY has very serious substance abuse problems.
Yeah, I was in treatment with someone who emptied all of the sanitizer stations and drank them. You'd be surprised how far some will go. I'm so glad I've been sober for years now, addiction is no way to live.
I think I’ve heard of vanilla being able to get you high, but I didn’t know this was possible

Vanilla extract contains a very high concentration of alcohol.

I used to be a Personal Care Attendant and there were dementia patients who would spit, scratch, kick, etc. I’m glad she acted out before she interacted with someone that acts like her, because i doubt she would be very nice to the patients. They say mean things and can hurt you if you let them.
my lady works in the field. can confirm.
@@cooperhastings6327 I was also pregnant when I was working, but because I was over 18, it was my responsibility to work with the dementia patients. The other coworkers were either 16 or they did not respect the field. It was hard because they were CNA’s, so they were meant to be training with me but they didn’t pay attention. I’m nervous for their future as nurses or whatever they want. TMI, but I have ADHD so when eve I have a job I kind of hyper-fixate on doing my best, even if it burns me out. I’m working on it, but it makes it hard to interact with people who have no work ethic. I just don’t understand in being so lazy, which is what these teens were. Sitting on their phones and not reporting to patients unless I told them too, and even then, they would make it LOOK like they worked. They would just move toiletries around and only wet the tooth brush and sink to LOOK like they worked. (We eventually had to get cameras for some patients rooms bc the younger staff were not doing their job). I know that everyone has different education and maturity levels, but don’t sign onto a job that you know you can’t do. Especially when they walk you through everything before you even start working.
"If you let them" 😂 we both know damn well You can't stop them. They will hurt you and you will take it 😢 fking meanies 😅
Yeah dementia is a terrifying thing. I've seen people's parents forget everything to the point they believed they were being kidnapped by strangers (their own family) and being forced to stay in an unknown location (their own house). Anyone would be fighting to the death to escape if they truly believed they were in that situation. This crackhead lady certainly has no business caring for the elderly. If she mistreated my family, a lawsuit would be the least of her worries. She'd find herself in the afterlife with many who thought they could treat others however they please.
First day on a new job is always the toughest.
She probably just wanted to take the edge off and calm herself and went way to far.
She might have ADHD and the crack and vanilla extract helps her concentrate.
It's a such a shame that people have issues that no one knows about until it's too late. This breaks my heart.
And I thought I've had some stressful first days at a new job before, like going to the wrong part of the building lol 😅
So seriously she went to jail for 1.5 years for this nonsense and armed carjackers are out on bail next day, then it’s dismissed? WTF?
The system is broken. In germany we have even rapists (like really) that never see jail. They get a slap on the wrist and then get to roam free again
Doesn’t need jail, needs mental help
I agree, yet she gets to stay in jail. I'm glad I don't live in Wisconsin.
& jail.
Actually she needs both.
No more mental facilities for the poor or middle class. There was once, but they got what they needed from the masses. Now, it is strictly for the Rich.
Don't need a comma; need a semicolon.
For those asking why she would drink vanilla extract. The good extracts usually use like 90%+ alcohol to extract the vanilla.
Yeah she ain't getting no job anymore
They will probably hire her as a nurse.
This is why I do my vanilla extract on the weekends
That officer was so calm and even offered to turn the TV on for her to help her chill out a bit. I got total toddler dad vibes! He's clearly used to tantrums ha!
Spitting on people is just gross 🤢.
I hope they reported this to the state board if she has any kind of license
Thankfully she never go near a patient! Couple tips: Nursing homes are HIGHLY unregulated and if you have to put a loved one in there, please do your research. And once your loved one is in one, keep checking in on them to evaluate their care. And when you visit, do it at random times this way you can be assured that they didn't just leave someone in filth for hours and then clean them bc they know you will be arriving!
I’m a nurse in Canada and they are much stricter about who they hire but there are some bad apples that get through. I had a staff of mine in home care driving around hammered to her clients houses and they kept calling us being wtf. Luckily her clients were all lucid but if they weren’t she could have killed or seriously injured someone
As a former nursing home employee, they’re called residents, not patients. Many aren’t sick or anything, it’s their home.
@@Okayyycool As an ER nurse, I have a revolving door with certain facilities that have very sick residents and also facilities that have generally independant residents who have developed severe illnesses due to the extreme short staffing by the for-profit owner who wants to get rich and doesn't care about their facilities' residents. And just like hospitals, I've also met some lazy workers who ignore their residents.
I work in a SNF - for patients coming from surgery or elderly too disabled or sick to live on their own. Patients are defenseless. Luckily my facility is regulated strictly. This woman would be removed from the facility at the door. I’m fortunate enough they allowed me to work for them regardless of my mental health record having a serious diagnosis(I was never hospitalized or in legal trouble). I’m grateful every day.
Jeez, 0.39 BAC is absolutely insane. The average in a study of 175 fatal cases of alcohol intoxication was 0.355. She must have had a insane amount of tolerance to be able to hold a conversation at that point.
Yep-- this is severe alcoholism right here
my mom had 0.4 and was jumping fences. the whole story is insane bruh
Yeah you don't get to the point of chugging vanilla extract if you're a social drinker
It's .039
They done messed it up in the graphics
@Beantastrophe the narrator goofed according to the pinned comment, it was actually 0.39
I really had to google if vanilla extract had alcohol. Wow 😮
I had an ex gf that died after drinking 2 large bottles of vanilla extract. Her alcoholism destroyed our relationship and her family. Her mother admitted to me just the other day its so much calmer in their household and easier to live life without her alcoholic antics anymore.
The close up of the fireman's face has me dying!!!😂
What a great person to have working there! Their hiring team deserves 5 stars.
I recommend NINJA STARS as form of application.
Nursing home jobs are easy to get.
Not a genius, but I'd say this females employment is fubar'd
i work in talent acquisition and tbf, a lot of candidates act completely normal during the interview process and pass drug tests either by quitting or smuggling someones urine into the testing site, and once they are hired they do a 180. so on behalf of the hiring team, this was most likely not their fault
@@r.8902 background checks?
What a waste of resources...
The fact she got sentenced 1.5 years in jail for this is insane, not excusing her actions but she's obviously not in the right state of mind. Throwing her in jail for this ain't fixing anything
Actually she was arrested again then went to jail.
Of all the ways to get drunk, it would never occur to me to drink pure vanilla extract, even though it’s 35% alcohol. I’ll bet she smelled good. 😉
Right? Best smell evah
You would be surprised when i tell you that i worked in a company where some co workers would secretly drink hand sanitizer from the bathrooms - No joke.
My mother had a co worker that drank Listerine mixed with orange soda at work.
I'm sure every time she burped, you'd think a stripper walked in.
That's why she spat on everyone, she just wanted to share the vanilla :)
Imagine being in jail for 1.5 years and another inmate ask what you in for and you say spitting at people, crazy.
If there wasn’t a harsh punishment against spitting at officers, then what would deter people from doing it?
Whatcha in for,
Didnt swallow.....

So you think if someone spit in your face they shouldn’t be charged? That’s the most insulting thing ever, especially if you have a disease. That’s weird you think it’s not serious.
@@gabby8485 Not for 1.5 years of their life, that's a bit excessive don't you think? Especially if they are intoxicated and not in their right mind. But then again, I'm not a cop, they would probably not even get charged doing it to me.
@@gabby8485 Do you have any concept of what 1.5 years in a cell is like?
“Kroger Vanilla Extract” is pretty specific 😂
This just seems like a digusting thing to share publically. I hope she's doing ok.
Agreed... some of these cases where the main problem seems like someone is just seriously having a mental/nervous breakdown and is suicidal shouldn't be shared to the public. Yes crimes were committed in terms of the drug use and being combative to the officers, but I'm sure many more of these types of situations occur multiple times every day around the country. People getting wasted or high to the point of nearly ODing and then being combative when help arrives. This one is just unique because she was on her first day at the job. So why not ruin her life even more by posting it publicly. While I enjoy most of the content by Code Blue Cam I feel they should use more care in selecting what footage to post.
It may seem like that but this is real, it's necessary to educate others on how deadly and how messed up addiction can be
@@_North let's be real, this is shock voyeurism. This woman isn't consenting to be in a recovery documentary, this is just slimey neckbeard cop suckers FOIA requesting cases to make content.
