Bradley Beach, New Jersey - On November 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., the Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida showed up unexpectedly to a traffic accident on Main Street, where the driver was later charged with DWI. The chief was not in uniform and dressed casually, and the sergeant, William Major said he was “drunk again," according to the report. The police chief tried to take the Sgt. Major away from the scene to criticize him for wearing a jacket with peeling police lettering. In the footage, the chief is heard saying, "Why do you got a jacket on that's not fit to be worn?"
The chief and sergeant ended up on the hood of a patrol car during the altercation, with someone heard saying, "You grabbed me." Sgt. Major is also heard on video saying, "He's drunk again ... Chief, get out of here or you are going to get locked up." The chief then is heard telling Sgt. Major he's relieving him of his duties, saying, "You're suspended." Sgt. Major was later allowed to resume his full job responsibilities. After the Monmouth County Prosecutor Office's investigation, Guida was placed on paid administrative leave. His position as chief pays a salary of $202,500, according to state pension records.

Yup. Tells me the chief committed multiple misdemeanors and potentially a felony (if he drove to the scene himself) and is getting paid by the taxpayers to be on "vacation" from the job he's unfit to have, instead of being arrested like any normal citizen would be if they'd done what he did. 😠

It's one of those where office politics will determine whether you get thrown to the wolves or exonerated. My guess is the chief has rivals or enemies, who see this as an opportunity to get rid of him so they can take his job. If was on friendly terms with the top brass, they'd just sack the Sgt Major without a second thought and keep the status quo.

My mouth dropped with this one. Why do these people not get fired immediately, but instead get put on paid administrative leave. What a waste of money. I feel sorry for the other police officers that had to endure that guy's drunken behavior. They should have just arrested him for public intoxication.

A drunken chief drove to a crash scene and insisted on berating the sargeant over the condition of his jacket. *That* is unbelievable. And none of the other cops backed the sergeant up.

Why should they back the sergeant up? He has taught them to let cops slide - even in this incident. Did he arrest the chief? Why not?

@@sj6404Right…. I’m sure that your coworkers, bosses and (God forbid) subordinates all hold you accountable for every little thing you do. I’m sure that they have filed complaint for every minute HR violation, filed written documentation when you make any mistakes, write you up every time you clock in even a seconds overdo, sue you or withhold money from your paycheck for any accidental or intentional damage you do to company property. I’m sure that every time a cop sees you doing even a single mph over the limit or see you jaywalk, they write you a ticket. I’m sure that every single mistake you make is held against you to the fullest extent they can be, right? Oh? What’s that? They aren’t? Guess others give you breaks too then, huh?

He aggressively assaulted a Chief after being giving a direct orders. Post non-compliance... preceded to physically assault said Chief in a violently aggressive way. Although this Chief may have been intoxicated, one can be certain it was not proved that night. So facts as we know them which can be proved by viewing this footage. Sgt. Billy violated Dept. policy and did in fact assault a superior officer. I humbly disagree with your assessment of this footage.

To be fair a DWI is worse than a drunk pedestrian. But the chief definitely needs to be charged with interference, drunk pedestrian, battery LEO, and witness intimidation. And I'm pretty sure there is something else in there about retaliation but idk about that.
