In May 2022, officers responded to a disorderly female at a restaurant in Wyandotte, MI. They later located her intoxicated in a park, clearly presenting a danger. Despite suggestions to call an Uber, she demanded that officers drive her. Her disruptive conduct drew the attention of many, and she was eventually taken to jail. When placed in a cell for detox, her behavior escalated to outrageous levels.

As a college student, I got myself into a situation where I was stranded on the side of the road, miles away from home, wildly drunk, in the middle of the night. None of my friends answered my calls, uber was brand new so none were available at that time of night, and it would have taken hours to walk home. Oh yeah, and I was underage too. Frightened, and feeling I had no other options, I called the non-emergency police line and tearfully explained my situation. The dispatcher stayed on the line until the cops arrived, who then got me into the car and back to my dorm. They didn't even say anything about my underage public intoxication, just got me home safe. I was respectful and apologetic, even while extremely intoxicated. Shows how far manners can go in these situations, I believe the night could have ended very differently for this woman had she acted respectfully.
It’s good they got you home. Some people are just awful drunks. When I get drunk, I get giggly and come out of my shy shell. I then may tell a total stranger my life story *cringe* My friend turns into a mean drunk and mouths off to people.

That cop needs to go back to training. He is hypersensitive and got offended over every little thing, and used every little thing to escalate the stop. The lady may have made a commotion back at the bar, or wherever, but she walked off and was sitting quietly under the tree, not bothering anyone.
The police don't have the power to force anyone to call Uber.
