You took that loss very well. Thanks for sharing Ace.
he is Elon Musk of Eve, that lost is just nothing lol
You’ve taught me so much about abyssals. You took that loss amazingly well. I struggled when I only lost a retribution that I’d saved up for. Thanks for reminding me that it’s just a game and that losing a ship is a part of it. You rock.
Excellent video!! Thank you very much for sharing.
It shows the reality of the Abyss. Same thing happened to me, since then, I don’t fly anymore hybrid tanks, and be focused on any “starving” thing.
RIP. Makes it cool to show even you take a loss now and again. Appreciated. Price of business in Abyssals sometimes, just have to make sure gains outweigh loss as much as you can. Love your work and honesty it really does make a difference to show these painful losses now and again to give reminders abyssals are dangerous and losses will happen - even to those who are very experienced and you just have to roll with it. Much kudos to you.
That is the exact same wave that got me, I was way to chill too didn't realize it was happening until I was done for. You did way better than I did I was hoping you would pull thru!
You could try to not facetanking everyone, and pulling the wave out. Piloting is the most important thing in abyss in my opinion.
Target priority was the problem here. Starving damas go down first when you have that many. You can tank the kikimoras if you have cap.
Couldn't agree more. Damaviks are actually one of the most fearsome neuters in the abyss - mostly due to their short cycle time. And they usually come in packs... Leaving them unattended is one of the worst choices one can make. So while the outcome might be unfortunate, it was entirely preventable...
Leaving neuters alone CAN be a valid tactic. However, it does require cruiser sized neuters stacking their cycles at the same time. As long as they hit all at once, you can still regen enough cap to at least run a single hardener, before the next cycle hits you. Perfect for Passive shield fit w/o a battery. Lets you focus on other prominent threats instead, but be vary if the neuts get spread out, as then you do have to deal with those first... Also will never work against frigate sized neuters, due to the much shorter cycle time not allowing you to ever regen enough cap. Still something to keep in mind, as it might just save your ship that otherwise would get pummeled into oblivion by a Karen sitting on a Pylon.
You should use boosters, you would survive for sure. Just have thouse 8% cap recharge in your cargo and when you have big neut spawn activate. And I always preroll standard blue pill
Ouch...4 billion at 33 million per T4 cruiser run would take 121 runs to recoup that loss. Makes for difficult argument to run T5 with that kind of expensive fit. Sorry about the loss and you took it way better than I would have, thanks for sharing it.
Bad break there! More cap recharge rigs?
I lost a blingy gila to a starving damavik wave too and I feel your pain. I've had success lately putting a Medium Semiconductor Memory Cell I in the rigs. I have an active tank, so I roll a standard blue to offset the loss in shield boost from the rig choice. Also, faction drones might have been a better choice against the damaviks.
Sorry about that Ace, that was one tough Abyssal spawn.
You are the best, no matter what, nice try bro!
Sorry for your loss, hate starving leshak waves for exactly same reason. Do you think shutting down your ab to conserve some cap would make a difference here?
It CAN, and against small targets that already have perfect tracking on you, is actually a smart thing to do. Against Leshaks, or other bigger NPCs, you should probably prioritize having the AB on, as the speed in those scenarios generally make up for the most of your tank to begin with.
The first rule is always hit the kikimor first
really wish CCP would let us back on to sisi server....
so, i tried to look this up on zKill and it doesn't show up for me. what am i doing wrong????
Oh man that hurt my soul
Ouch D:
I have died like that, cap got drained by npcs. It sucked.
Switching off your prop mod might have bought you a bit more time
Given you were so close to Jita you probably had a trace camp right outside…. Damavik or trace camp … pick your killer
I am no Pro but i think you did some mistakes ;) . Not using shield charger even if you on 60% shield and got leeched from Damavig . Maybe not burning directly into the neuts . Using shield hardeners without any shield is also medicore or ?
I know the Kikimoras hurt, but if it has Starving, Sentinel, Fury, Or Nullcharge in the name (among others), they need to be taken off the field, pronto.
ouch..
Tough luck…
I warped to a ded site, saw no npcs but a blood raider tower, shot at it. The tower drained my cap then all the npc's spawn like crazy and lost a dominix .
That sounds like a FOB, not a DED site... but yes, those can chew through pretty much any solo ship you can throw at them...
i dont know how much a damage control would help you.. and drugs? never go to abyss without them ;)
Drugs yes - DCU - not so much...
The biggest benefits of a DCU are the Resists, which are lackluster for shields anyway - the main tank of a Gila. You would actually be better off with an extra damage mod to clear the waves out faster. Granted, DCU might prove useful in cases where you DO get capped out, but the general strategy of any abyss run would be to avoid that situation by any costs in the first place. They can be very nice on Armor ships for that extra buffer, however.
very sad man always gofor starving
Didn't notice that your nos had turned off at the end... ouch. I don't know if it would work for a Gila but I have good luck heading for the white cloud and getting the trigs to go out of range briefly and reset the damage ramp. Or head directly away from any tough waves to nuke as many ships as possible before they're all on top of me.
