    1) The license Key was able to be pulled when you selected the C:\ Partition, or did you or do you need to input that Windows 10 Pro is up and running manually?

    Thank you, this is a great idea. Having the installation files in the recovery partition would be very helpful in the event that the machine has booting issues or corrupted, Win 10 could be reinstalled.
    Windows will usually ask you if you would like to keep your current Windows installation, and install to new Windows folder (e.g. Windows10, Windows-1. etc.). You can use EasyBCD to remove the old windows from the boot menu afterwards. It might also be a good idea to copy any "unique" drivers for WiFi or Ethernet adapters to a folder on the recovery drive called Drivers.

    • @jkw427
      @jkw427 Před 6 lety +1

      Just DL Macrium Reflect free version, install it and make an image of ur fully loaded pc. Going to be around 50gbites. Preferably store it on drive D, ur storage drive. Use a thumbdrive and then let Macrium make it a recovery flashdrive. To recover, boot the flashdrive, tic recovery, select drive to recover (C drive partitions), find image u saved (On D Drive) and click do it. Approx 30 minutes later you are back with a fully loaded machine. A complete mirror image of what you saved. I use it on every PC I have and I have 5. Never failed me. Saved me more than once. Of course this requires thinking ahead for disaster recovery, which most never give a thought too.

      @micci973 Před 4 lety

      Well, that happened to me and If you want to get your data back, just use the drive you used to boot the system and click on fix system (mine said that though)
      It will take you to either recover, reset or advanced settings / continue, trouble shooting and advanced settings. On any one Click recover (since you want to recover your data) with that removable device still inserted.
      Then, in your system early boot, click on system setup. It could be F4, F2 or F12 (in mine is either F2 or F12) and move to "boot" once it comes up.
      In the boot section, you will see options like
      Hard drive, removable disk, USB drives and network booting. Click on hard drive (not the removable drive but your system drive) and save your changes.
      It will reboot and show you fixing system. It is then that you'll wait. DO NOT SWITCH OFF YOUR COMPUTER! IT IS BEST PLUG IT TO A POWER SOURCE JUST INCASE.
      If it didn't work, repeat it. Rebooting your system can actually do the work. That's was how I was able to recover my data and the window I was using as well.
      I hope this helps you recover yours.

    To the people who are little confused because they want to reinstall the Windows into the same C drive but want to save the data, either create another partition or create this recovery drive partition larger enough to store all your back up data. Now some people may get into another error which I was also facing, that the partition process will show error 'not enough storage'. So instead of making one large unallocated partition of let's say 500 GB, create 5 partitions of 100 GB each. I faced the same problem, and the given solution worked well.

  • @MichaelMacAllister
    @MichaelMacAllister Před 6 lety +33

    I think you should advise your viewers that they will loose ALL data on the C drive if they do this.

      i think you might already solved your problem but in case not,take an usb,put the windows file in it,download rufus,it will detect your usb (all this in another pc ofc),select ISO file,select the window file,select GPT,don't touch the other things and start,when the statut is ready,put the usb in your other pc and start it,click on control and échap,and select your USB and voilà

    Dude you are a lifesaver. I have a gaming laptop that has a hosed bios. The computer works fine but you can't get into the bios to change the boot order (because it just freezes), so I had no way to reload windows. I tried using a USB, etc., and everything was a bust. I had a tech look at it and he said there was nothing I can do other than buy a new motherboard which is $400. Using this method I was able to reload Windows and now my laptop is working great. Annoying that my bios doesn't pull up but now I am able to salvage a $2200 computer thanks to you!
