    Terrific lesson.
Some words sound odd when we use them in their full forms:
It will not work, (It won't work.)
You are the winner. (You're the winner.)
    They are here. (They're here.)
We did not notice the two faces. (We didn't notice the two faces.)
One can also reduce full forms this way, "I wouldn't've written it that way." However, I view this as contraction overload.

Is "slide open" a phrasal verb?
If it isn't what is it called?
What is the function of these?
I happen to see this many times. Although i understand this I don't what function it takes.
Can you clarify it for me?
    (Eg:He slid open the door.)
I mean can 2 verbs be a phrasal verb?
Verb with preposition or adverb is called phrasal verbs is what i have studied.
    Waiting for your reply.

Hi. "Open" isn't a particle. Phrasal verbs use a verb + one or more particles. (look up, look down on, look forward to, get over, etc.)
"Slide" can be transitive or intransitive:
The door slides open. [intransitive = no object] "Open" answers the question how.
Can you please slide the door closed? [transitive = object]
Things can slide open, closed, across a floor, up and down. Those are simple adverbials explaining direction.

@@Englishwithjennifer Really thankyou. But why did you type first one "open" and second one "closed"?
Present and past? Isn't it "close"?

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před rokem

Those are antonyms, like "awake or asleep" or "alive or dead."

Hi. There are different ways to study with me. First, there are my free videos on CZcams and Instagram. I have some free exercises on my website. YT members can send in questions before the monthly livestream and then receive a practice task afterwards. Then IG subscribers get exclusive stories during the month. They recently got a short quiz on verb forms. :)
