100% accurate! when you work in loops you tend not to have any progression in the phrase. when you work in loops & yo add an arp, the arp starts loops & then loops & its VERY hard to imagine what its doing in the flow of the track as its just a loop.. when you put it in the track you will have the arp start & by the time the phrase is ending you will probably have changed some notes in the 4th and/or 8th riff to make it as interesting as you can for the short time you get to hear it. When working in loops you get easily satisfied with how it sounds & the mind set of "I listen to that again" sets in & then you are no longer working on the section but listening to it as a listener. then you like it & don't want to change it, or you over work it.. so this advice is absolutely KILLER! & really need to get out of loops. If yo are a stoner & you get high while making sounds if you are not out of the habit then you have 2 habits to break. If you are a stoner & you don't work in loops then you will find that you work faster. Like Projector says Kick/Bass are laid out, as well as the leads/mellodies. then you can go & work on the efx. this means you are doing less each time yo work. where as in loops you will want to have the crashes, rev efx, risers & all that done because yo want this loop you are working on to be the best loop! instead take that same effort & lay out the track. this way when you are in lead mode all you have to do is leads.. When yo are in Efx mode all you have to do is Efx.. ECT. 20 years ago when I was in the studio for 18h a day 7 days a week. I could finish a track a day. & then I would have 1 or 2 days a week when I went over the "finished tracks" & tweaked them. some I would then Mix. master & brunch a copy. I would have 3-5 tracks a month that I called finished. & maybe 1-2 of them would be release ready. Get out of loop mode ASAP it's a killer. I am there right now after a long break from making music & I have fallen into the dreaded loop mode. but I needed to be here to learn how all the stuff works again. you forget a lot! Cheers dude!
Good stuff. This is the video everyone needed. You seem to publish one by one the ideas and methods I found out when I first took a deep dive to making music. Music is born in contrast and change. Without contrast there's no meaning, no information to be digested, no feelings to be felt. So it's like telling a story, in a very abstract sense. Oh btw, I'm reeeally looking forward to hearing this track when it's out.
i'd rather he didn't...there's very few people that do Psy Trance on YT without it being pandering to the audience...while EDM and House have more than a couple good YTrs covering them.
