Lydia Pense's voice is unmistakable! Cold Blood and T.O.P. were a few of my favorite bands of the 70s, along with bands like Mandrill, War & New Birth! That was the era of "The Battle of the Bands"! It was all about the vocals, horns & percussion!!! 🎶💖
They had to be a bad ass band of Donnie Hathaway worked with them. Late 70’s music was made specifically for great live shows and those monster stereo systems(pioneer being my favorite)
bought my first Lydia Pense album back in 1969....never looked back.
"Down to the Bone" is the first song that made me a fan of Cold Blood.❤️🎵
That drummer....and Lydia's singing......a fantastic band!!!!💕💓💕💓
If you had Cold Blood and Tower of Power on the same card you are no longer standing because the Funk would have knocked you out!! Love the horns. East Bay
In 1972 KPFA did a live broadcast with TOP and Cold Blood from Mandrakes on 10th and University. I was in high school tuning in. Killah!
I'd throw in Santana
Gotta love Lydia Pense and cold blood!been a fan since their early days!
I was so very lucky to get to meet her at the Redwood Run back in 1991... and again 6 weeks later at another gig in NorCal... she was so kind as to take a photo with me... it's one of my treasures....
Thirty three years of AWESOME
What!? I still have this album. I love this song. How in the world did they get Chipito Areas to play.
Cold Blood would light up the Bay Area music scene, fav band ever.
Anyone who has the Lights out San Francisco album will see and feel the vocals this woman puts into a song! One of the best funk and soul singers ever….period!
Got it. One of my favorite albums. This is the only reference to it I've seen in 50+ years
@@michaelperigo6746 if you grew up in the Bay Area Dusty Street always played this late at night (Cleo’s Back). Found the album in Leopolds in Bazerkly back in the day 😁
Sensacional!
OMG,.. Lydia- What a baby she was here... and TOM POOLE on Trumpet? Jeff Tamilier on guitar?? Damn! THAT is a BAND!
Cold Blood, Sons of Champlain, Tower of Power --- need I say more..?
Boom!
Second that boom! Have seen both NUMEROUS of times and I’m 33. Thank you to my parents :)
I miss this.
Kick ass .....again.
Another Bay Area Classic Lydia Pense and Cold Blood!
Then & now, still as hot as the sun.
Finest band to come outta mission high!
I’m so glad somebody gave Lydia that stage pass she’s wearing that allowed her to sing in front of the cameras.
aka "Mad Dad" Yeah.. this band had it all. They received a fair
amount of airplay here in Southern New England. Another one
of those bands that deserved a lot more recognition.
SO COOL!!!!
Bobby Kimball and I did this song in 1973 with a band called Machine, The band had lots of power, to say the least.
Gawd..... one of my bucket lists of things to do is simply kiss the ground where Lydia Pense once walked. It's been 53 years now since I heard an album of Cold Blood, and I just now had my high school buddy, while planning our 50 year class reunion tell me who that band was when I first got stoned.
I kept playing the cassette I had with no idea who the artist was during my college years. Now learning this news, my life's goal is .... well, not quite there (done), but one thread is tied off now!!!! Just need to kiss that ground where Lydia once walked. I'd even write bad checks if I had to if that's what it takes.
If you live anywhere near the SF Bay come hear us (Cold Blood) and meet us at Yoshi’s Oakland Sept 13 2023. I’ll be on trumpet.
Lydia and Cold Blood kicking butt! Jose' Chepito Areas on timbales !!
I have to be one of the only cats in Cleveland that saw them live both times they played here...funky+ shows. Raul used 4(!) Leslies to pump up his volume...lydia was the first woman I ever saw with tats(1970). They were very cool...
Lydia and Joe Cocker had the moves.
Was there a funkier Band than Cold Blood .. Greg Adams ? From TOP played with these guys? It was such a great time Lydia et.al. In Cold Blood .. Emilio -Doc-Garibaldi-Chester T - TOP. Let’s get back to this shit!
RIP Max Haskett
I seen Tower Power and Cold Blood in 1970 at Santa Clara Fair grounds some got stabbed in front of stage still mories. Thanks
Chapito on the timbales,Lydia simply kicks ass.
SOULJAHZ ROCKERZ
is that Jeff Tamelier - on guitar..?
a very young Jeff Tamelier
Classic! This and Valdez in the country my faves. What a voice, but Lydia's stage akwardness reminds me of a female Joe Cocker, ha.
It's what happens when you're feeling it, not faking it.
Her version of Rock Bottom Blues is non pareil. I wish I could find it.
Good deal
Can't find it anywhere.
Thanksgivng weekend?
Does anyone out know how to get a copy of their album with the block of ice and the drop of blood in it. I have it but played it so much I wore it out.

These concerts both in 98? I don't think so...She looks totally different here, & singing wise too..Live @ Filmore must've been later?
11.26.89
A mullet in 1989 is a crime.
Jeff Tamelier on Guitar...?
Looks like a young Jeff and Bobby Vega on Bass. I only seen not even a second of him but, it looked like Vega.
Do I see ahhh Tom Poole? On Horn?
Blowin' tuff Such a pedigree, love him when with Tommy Castro against Keith Crossan
At the Santa Clara fairgrounds 1969 Tower of Power and Cold Blood someone got stabbed in front of stage
Da 4th row kid was there on location
Lydia = Janis that lived.
She was better than her in fact Janis actually recommended her to them
Chapito from Santana???
apparently..
The best! Where's the funk? I wants me some FUNK! Isnt there a bit of wisdom about what is old being new again? Run, Mark Ronson. Run , Bruno, Run! Save us old folks who were spoiled by the best.
Was that Jason Ball on guitar?
