Please teach the history of Africa in the classroom. It is such a rich history unfortunately it not well understood. Africans young and old need to learn the history of Kemet, Nubia the Kush civilisation and the invasions of Africa by the so called Europeans. The Greeks , romans and the Arabs who now occupy North Africa. Understand that the Portuguese are not European they are Mediterranean.

I'm currently studying History as a part of my degree. That thing that he said about the Ottoman Empire pinching Europe in the way they did, was never this clear to me.
I always knew they needed spices, but now I understand that they were not simply greedy, they were also extremely desperate. This knowledge alone changes the way I approach everything.
Also the timeline of the Ottomans makes me understand why the expulsion of the Moors from Spain was so important (Catholic Holy war against Muslims and then later against colored ppl), and how this further translated into countries like the Domonican Republic in the Caribbean which are probably more than 90% Afro descended, yet still they refuse to identify as such. It explains the encomienda system and why they were all so zesty bout dat and how they were able to decimate the indigenous culture so totally and so quickly (within a matter of 30-50 years), from Mexico all the way to Peru and the Caribbean.
Now I understand just a little bit more. Now I know where to plant my feet. Slowly I'm learning, just like a tree, how to hold up the sky.
