Thanks so much to Rik and the RunPlayBack team for linking up and putting together this video. It's such a fair and thorough introduction to our bikes, and incredibly well crafted. Really hope we get to link up again soon. To all RunPlayBack viewers - feel free to ask us questions by responding to this comment or on any of our social media channels.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! It was an absolute blast getting a chance to test the Chimera. We're all about keeping it real and fair here at RunPlayBack and TBH the bike speaks for itself. For anyone in SoCal, I definitely encourage you to do a test ride. There's nothing like getting hands-on with innovative rides and sharing that experience with our community.
@chimerabmx Interested to know why torque sensor PAS was not included? It's fairly easy to add. I can understand that the bike is light enough for almost normal pedaling, however, IMO folks love PAS when it comes to e-bikes.
@ai Good question! We occasionally get questions like this about PAS, brake sensors, gearsets, display, headlights, taillights, suspension, horn, and all the other stuff found on many high-power ebikes these days. Those parts have their purpose on other sorts of vehicles, but from a BMX perspective they just add clutter, extra weight, and more stuff that can break. We add only what you need and nothing else for an e-bmx experience. If a few riders want to add PAS after they get their bikes, they can definitely do it, though. Our BAC855 controller allows it, and the Kilowatt app can be used to program it.
@@chimerabmx Thanks for the response. And thanks for providing your reasons for not including it. It’s good that you will allow mods like this, perhaps in the future you could provide this as a separate addon accessory, that would be PNP.
@@mrdanlaiMods are awesome and we tend to be very mod friendly. If enough riders asked for it, we'd design snd sell a kit for sure.
That titanium frame i say is the real feature and that powertrain design.
Man if rather save up money for these.
It's a spectacular looking bike and definitely the best BMX or ebike I have seen. The only other BMX that has my attention is that full suspension We the People BMX, but it's not electric. This one looks super fun though because I could drive long distances, have a spare battery, drive some more, pedal home if needed, whatever. I don't see any reason for e-bikes to be full-sized bicycles, they might as well get an E-motorcycle. So the next logical step for me to choose an e-BMX.
Also just keeping it as a minimalistic looking BMX but not trying to hide the obviously needed components making them accessible and customizable on top of having regular sized tires on the bicycle is brilliant.
Always great to encounter a rider who understands the design principles of the brand. Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great video man! I can't wait to get back on the Chimera tomorrow
Hey brother! Yeah that thing is too much fun
Great overview and appreciate the ride clips.
Thanks for watching!
8:51 lol. Looks fun
🔥🔥
Will chimerabmx ever produce a cheap BMX bike with direct drive, pedal assist single gear that does about 50mph for around 2-2.5k? The bike they make now is too expensive. I get it it's hand crafted and higher quality than the junk on the market. But what about the economy buyers?
Bad ass
I'mma get a steel one
good choice!
When will the steel bikes ship?
@@peregrintook24007 months time order now for next years batch
When’s someone going to ride one of these like a proper bmx. I want to see some mad powered manuals
Head to their homepage...a few clips of BMX Riders: chimerabmx.com/
Does it charge when your peddling
Not stock, but it can pretty easily be setup that way. Unfortunately, regenerative pedaling is extremely tiring and an inefficient way to charge 🙃
I simply cannot believe the price......
4,600 for a 45lb BMX bike and that's the lightest version yeah I'm allset 😂
You are mistaken. $2890 for the 45lb bike. The more expensive bike in the video is made entirely of titanium and weighs 37lbs. It's extremely expensive to make.
How reliable is your titanium model?
I read online that not all titanium processes are the same.
@@Mash3OH3 Good question! Our titanium welding process is careful tig welding with heavy argon purge. It's the highest quality ti frame manufacturing available. If you're just a regular rider it'll last a lifetime. However, because of the flex of grade 9 ti, the 4130 heat-treated steel frame is ultimately a stronger, stiffer, more durable frame. That goes for all frame manufacturing - not just ours. Properly welded 4130 heat treated steel tubing is stronger than properly welded grade 9 titanium tubing. There's just no way around it. So if you're a rider who's going to push the limits of your frame, the steel is always a better choice.
@chimerabmx
Thats interesting. So the titanium flexes more but the steel doesn and offers a stiffer ride.
I have one personal important question. Is your 4130 molydenum steel process,
The SAME or SUPERIOUR when compared to a vintage 1998 Kona Cindercone 4130 steel frame?
Because if i already have a steel bike thats equivalnt to your 4130 steel frame. In terms of lifetime, durability and stiffness.
Then i figured id save up for your titanium chimera instead. (Also that unique power train set up)
@@Mash3OH3 Correct. The primary advantage of the titanium is that it's drastically lighter and nearly as strong as the steel.

Stop asking for pre-order money, put the product up or shut up.
Overpriced & unreliable
How so for a custim frame itll cost me what the steel bike is worth ive built high end motorcycles and bikes cor a cyc motor and batt id be looking at over £2000 easy my titanium bmx frame was silly money so this is not at all overpriced my cake kalk was overpriced
@@0141star I just plunked down 4k on p51 love the frame, life long platform for me. Like yours too but I'm 6three so it's too small and soft and I'd be butthurt if dented for over 5k. Plus I'm 58 but reminds me of Rodger Decoster bike in like 76, chromemoly was new. Plus I need more range, want to put a grintech motor on front wheel for hills and 72v after warranty expires.
How is it unreliable?
