  • We decided to compare the performance between these two bikes that have a HUGE difference in pricing and the results shocked us! Matty Cranmer did 5 different tricks on each of these bikes and to our surprise he rode the much cheaper bike better than his own custom bike! This just goes to prove that the technology and quality of modern day BMX bikes has come a long way!

      @neonnerd1364 not for this price nerd. (Jk only cause ur name u picked) A buddy paid 600 for a WTP that only had top tube and down tube 4130. The rest hi-ten and it snapped. Subrosa charges over 600, I think 675 for this type of complete. Cult charges almost 600 and single wall in the front as well. Kink and Sunday are the only ones that do bikes this cheap but they are single wall rims in front with non sealed bearings. My point being, mongoose is doing it properly for the price. You can't beat it

    21” TT and the uncut Bars, give you a more stable roomier and more comfortable feeling bike.
    It makes bar spins a little harder but everything else feel smoother.
    Also the big spongy tires help dampen the impact through the bars, however maybe just jump up to like a 2.2 tire and bigger frame. Really think Matt might look even more comfortable and smooth with that setup.

    The difference always being the parts package that comes on stock bikes. Usually cheaper hubs, wheels, unsealed bearings, partial Chromoly tubing instead of full in the frame, etc. You can for sure get a great stock bike nowadays especially depending on how much you want to dish out as alot you premium parts at added cost of course.

    Really interesting video, BMX completes have come on so much now. My first three completes was Haro in the early 2000’s but it just shows how far and affordable manufacturing a bike has become yet also scary that a “complete” is just as good and as strong as a custom built BMX. As for Matty, I think you need to up to a 21” TT, the back ends are so short now it makes up for the rest of the geometry! The bars on the complete remind me of the Fly Bikes bars but Thinner tyres and that thing would be dialed!

    Long tip tubes and short backends you spin so nicely. It’s smooth and steezy…
    Matty should get a 21.25 top tube bike and get the smallest possible rear end.
    This makes the back end twitchy for tech tricks but in the air it’s smooth.
    I have run that style frame as long as I can remember, they are so much more fun to ride.
    When you are over the back it’s twitchy and over the front it flows, so you can do all your tech stuff without issues but you don’t lose out on airs. Plus there is so much more room for tricks

    I have Mongoose L500 is that good? Thicker tyres compared to that L100 and the weight is very light that i can lift it with one finger.

    I have a complete different brand cro mo front triangle, in 3 years I've broken cranks and bars. 3 pegs and no brakes it's 26.4 lbs. I put on demolition momentum tires unaware of the weight and a 28 tooth sprocket. Every time i look at a replacement its heavier or doesn't ride the way i like

    It’s like this for almost everything now. Like I play guitar and before you really had to spend money to get a good guitar but now days you can get some really really god stuff for cheap

    It's hard to explain, but I sometimes switch back and forth between first person shooter games and almost every time I do I get better mechanically even tho games are all different.. but then it fades. Something about the switch makes you more aware or less prepared in a way.

    Sometimes the dimensions of a bike suit a rider better but it's not what the rider wants so maybe in this case Matty needs to swap his parts onto that frame and see how he feels riding those dimensons

    id say getting the practice attempts on his bike prepared him for the L100 so maybe do another where he switches witch bike he uses first for each trick he does

    I think the reason the complete bike was easier is because he got to warm up on his custom bike

    I remember a few times where I could land a trick on a friend's bike but not on mine. Some set-ups just make certain tricks a bit easier to land. So if you are struggling on a trick next time try it on someone else's bike and see what changes!

    Bros got mad skills but still got the nerves. Only human! I love how he's questioning his BMX existence after landing everything easier on the new bike 😂 "I gotta talk to the design team" lol

    its top tube length, look at his feet when he misses his pedals on his bike after the whips, his feet naturally went to where the complete bike would be

    Moral of the story: Matty coulda saved $1500!! LOL Seriously though, I appreciate this video. I plan to get back into BMX riding after 37 years (Yeah I'm old!) Last time I owned/rode my own BMX was back around 1986 or so when dinosaurs had just gone extinct. This video gives some reassurance that I don't need to spend too much to get something of decent quality for mainly just cruising around with my daughter, and to eventually give to her when she commits me to an old age home! 😉🤣

    I feel that he was rotating better because the tires on the complete had a bit of give to them if you watch when he rotated you can see them slightly fold acting like an elastic when he spins

    the custombike had frame geometry chosen by another rider, your arms and legs are unlikely to be the same dimensions. Looking forward to you having your own frame designed for you and seeing how that helps your riding.

  • @trentcastle6922

    Possibly that the custom is all set up for how he’s become comfortable. But the complete was set up to what works better for him but he’s just never known (as far as bike geometry)

  • @deadb0yy
    @deadb0yy Před 10 měsíci +1

    I think Matty had more leverage on the complete because of it being longer. Maybe he should switch to a 21" top tube..
    Also, I can't believe he runs 2.1" tires!?!!

  • @rk702
    @rk702 Před 11 měsíci +3

    I just started the video and I think I am not going to be surprised with the results. Matty is going to ride the less expensive bike as well as the expensive one. Maybe a little easier to perform tricks on a custom or high quality after market build but the skill is what really counts. Now lets see….

  • @Dylanwill8920
    @Dylanwill8920 Před 10 měsíci

    You should really repeat the test but this time do it L200 the custom as the order to do each trick. For each trick the custom bike was probably just warming him up. Which probably makes more difference than slight geometry changes

  • @dinodouche
    @dinodouche Před 11 měsíci +1

    Maybe Matt needs to change his geometry again and he should also ride bigger tires they look so much better
