    I am on my second Fisakrs. Love it. However this mower was way out of adjustment out of the box. Also, it was shipped bone dry with zero lube including the chain. Plan on spending about 30 minutes with your Fiskars out of the box.

    I bought one used off CL and it needed sharpening and adjusting, it’s easy to push and cuts well. I have run into a few problems though, my mower was well used and one of the blades is ever so slightly bent and the knife bed adjusting screws are stripped in spots making precise adjustments impossible. I’ve tried to contact Fiskars about getting parts but I’ve had no luck. It may end up in the trash heap as it doesn’t cut as well as it should.

      I have same issue. Thinking of going to home depot/lowes and try to get new bolts and lock nuts before I toss in trash to make better adjustments. That's what i get for trying to buy 2nd hand I guess. Let me know what you ended up doing, giving up or did you come up with anything.

      @@jenniferbmendezful I tried the box store route too, I wasn’t able to find anything. The adjustment bolts are unique to Fiskars. I was able to get them to send me some, but the female threads had been worn to the point that they wouldn’t hold the bolts. The mower was taken to the dump.

    I sharpened and adjusted the mower (actually did the sharpening several times) and was never able to get it to cut paper in the center area, just the ends. Do you have any suggestions?

    My mower is getting harder to push and it doesn’t seem that the blades are rotating as fast as they once did. I wanted to know if it’s possible to release whatever safety mechanism stops/slows the blades from rotating when stop/slow. My yard is very small and I’m having a difficult time getting the edges cut without having to cut my grass multiple times in different directions so that the blades are always moving on each section around the edges. It’s very frustrating and I’ve been a happy owner for many years. Probably at least 10-12. I am not concerned about spinning blades in safety as I’m the only one that uses the motor and there are no children in my home. Prior to buying my Fiskars Eversharp, I had a 1901 Toro reel mower… That spun and cut at max speed even the very edges of my yard when I stopped. I literally had the rubber on the wheels fall off… When it was 112 years old. (Dry rot.) I tried for other mowers before I settled on the Fiskars. At 65yo I enjoy cutting my grass… But the mower feels like it’s moving slower than I am and I’m still moving pretty fast.

    Can the blade height be adjusted lower than 25mm, if yes, how low can we go?

  • @hagbard72
    @hagbard72 Před 2 lety

    Fact chance getting it to cut like described. On the second one (took the first one back the first year) now no matter how I try to adjust it either connects on one side and cuts and doesn't on the other. No amount of adjusting fixes this.

    No matter what I do, the front wheels remained locked and the blade catches on the bottom metal piece. I really love this mower but my frustration is about at its peak now.

    Does Fiskars have a vid on sharpening the mower blades? Lots of others do, but it would be best to get that info from the manufacturer

    They don't mention that the adjustment screws have a left handed thread, so tightening the jam nut on the bottom will be backward. Also the "Locking Bolts" shown in the instructions are 10mm on mine, not 11mm.
    Shouldn't let the summer interns write the manual.

    This mower has proven to be less maneuverable, less maintainable, less storable, generally less usable, and much more expensive than my American Lawnmower branded mower. I’m so glad it took so long to arrive so I had to go buy the other because I am convinced that the designers of this mower didn’t use any competing reel mowers. It feels like they thought they were competing with rotary mowers. I will forever be steering people away from this one the best I can.

      In fact, I hate it so much it’s going out with the garbage. They make good scissors, garbage mowers.

  • @CrueLoaf

    Whoah! Just spent two hours adjusting this thing after it started making a clanking sound. Not my kind of this! Fine adjustment is time wasted for actually cutting the grass!
    I also have no idea why you loosen the lower nuts to adjust the blade distance. You don’t say on the video.
    Now my mower is just about cutting paper and the clanking has gone.
