One minute, you're on the road, looking at the scenery. Next thing you know, you're in the scenery looking at the road. Good times. Good times.
You got that right lol
@Smokin Monkey Damn good video. Just got my 14 Ruby stuck like hell last weekend. I live in NC and the mud here is insane!!!
Thanks man! Ya it’s gonna be a mess here soon too with the warm weather coming through
@@SmokinMonkeyOG post more. I love videos like this.
Or.....just don't go driving in the ice...problem solved.
The essence of offroading beautifully captured in a visual symphony of mud, trails, and joy
I love when stock cars or trucks go off roading they actually do pretty good for not being a off road vehicle, I love it more plzz
Check out whistling diesel gwagon that thing is tough. 😅
That little Honda is tough.
Love watching that thing send it lol
Thank God it's a Honda 😄
It’s all in the tires come winter
SICK! Kudos to the Rav and Honda, getter done boys!
What people commonly don't realize is that the tires have virtually EVERYTHING to do with how well any vehicle does in that terrain. As long as the vehicles have excellent snow tires, they will all do relatively well.
The AWD system in Honda and Toyota is relatively good, though not as good as Subaru's symmetrical AWD. Toyota's big weakness is that the AWD disengages after 25 mph and then is front-wheel drive only, and Honda has a "slip-and-then-grip" type of system, whereas Subaru has a full-time AWD system at all speeds.
Finally someone that knows their stuff!
Hey, I really enjoyed this. You edited it down to the important and informative parts, with little fat. You're the man. Thank you.
Thanks man! Appreciate the feedback, I try to keep it interesting
That’s ballsy taking a rental through. Great video love it.
That last part goin downhill looked real fun, the CR-V sent it too that was impressive. The Sahara's were badass too the modified one & the rental both did great.
That mud pit full of rocks and ice is insane!
Ya it was lol
I absolutely loved this video! Excellent job guys!
Thanks!
Really slick stuff,! Ice mud and snow!
Amazing guys!!! I enjoyed this video very much.
This is Where I am not a shame to use a winch or tire chains or anything else that might work 🤔 🤷 It's alot more fun , When nobody breaks things 😅 THANKS for sharing your video 😊
This is better than a Netflix movie. Awesome video. Thank you for the action. Subscribed.
Thanks man!
Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed the footage.
Thanks man
my dream 😍😍😍 i cant wait to get a JL and a old TJ in my backyard .
I hear that!
Gosh I wish I was out there with all of you guys having that much fun come get me
I'm an FJ Cruiser guy, but My stepdad had an old WILLYS from the 50s and I want to buy one for myself. That WILLYS was so badass.
Which one are you referring too not sure we had a Willys with us?
Just found your channel today. I'm sitting down here in central Texas in 107+ degree weather (42°C) on the 27th of August watching this wishing it was cold outside right now. This was great.
Finally wheeling that is more than just driving down some dirt/gravel road & calling that off-roading. Or off-roading in some lifted/customized $100K+ rig riding on 44s that just drives through anything with ease. The CRV & RAV did better than I thought they would but like the saying goes - Don't bring a knife to a gun fight - Of course the Jeeps pretty much killed it as they usually do (even without lockers).
i take my rig cross country no roads this is nothing for my 70 high boy Childs play to me
@jeffrey4547 let’s see the video or it didn’t happen
@@SmokinMonkeyOG u would not say this if u ever owned a 70 high boy with dana 60/80 lockers how about we do a pulling test in the mud i live in oregon
@jeffrey4547 no problem. Let me know when you’re coming up here.
I get it you love your truck and I’m not saying that your truck can’t do it I’m just saying that everybody and their grandmother says that their vehicle can do better so unless you can come down and show me or send a video
I was riding my dirt bike and just taking a quick ride to check everything out real slow before hitting it hard. There was a guy riding out in the pit climbing some of the hills I ride on in a bone stock Jeep Wrangler. This thing had tiny tires, probably the cheapest one they made and he was doing impressive things with it. He must have been a good driver but it still speaks to the build and capabilities of the Jeep. I was also very impressed on several occasions by Jeep Cherokee Sports or as you Jeepers call them XJ's.
Ya driving skill plays a big role too
finally someone that knows how to use a rental
Dope video JL
Such a good time 🔥
Great video..From America 🇺🇸
Thanks! Greeting from Canada 🇨🇦
Off roading 101 - when in the mud or snow turn off traction control 😊
I am impressed with the CRV in the mud soup -- Great job -- Hope you did not get any scratches on the rental Jeep....
Y’all are crazy. Love watching though. Wouldn’t do it myself.
Haha that’s why we’re here lol
Chingon video saludo y bendiciones ✌✌✌✌👍🎄
Tire size/type plus technique 😎 love ❤️ those TJ's
Great vid... awesome accomplishment for you all
Hey, the rav4 needs different tires, I have that one with the v6 and 4x4 2008, for what it is, it is a beast! ITs not a wrangler, or a 4 runner, but it needed some different tires for sure. Nice video.
Thanks man!
That s cool hard terrain
First time viewer, subd.
2 things:
1 - axle locks are no joke. Presumably only the Rubi had them?
2 - Mud tires are worthless on the snow/ice. An aggressive A/T is far better.
Thanks man! Lockers will definitely help a lot but they do only come on the Rubicon models and now Willy’s models. Unfortunately I don’t have them at the moment till I upgrade. I also agree about the mud tires, but we’re just out here to have a fun time in the snow in our trail rigs. None of us are going to buy a separate set of tires for the winter because it too expensive, most of us don’t use the jeeps as daily vehicles so we keep them how they’re set up in the summer and just play with them in the winter here and there.
Me and the wife plan on running it tomorrow good friday wheeling
people bash these cars but they still got it
So glad I found this video this just solidifies my decision to get the Rubicon. Now the hard part Wrangler or Gladiator 😅😅😅
Personally I love my gladiator but if you want more off road capability then wrangler beats it. But if you want to have the bed and the other things the gladiator offers for everyday use then I’d get the gladiator. I drive mine mostly on the road and for adventures like off roading, camping, touring etc. So I love having mine.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG thank you for that. I really have had no direction for what does better for wheeling or not
@@BlackEyeSRT I don't know if it's too late or not but according to Jeep's own internal scoring system the 2 door Wrangler Rubicon is rated 10, the 4 door a nine and the Gladiator is 8. The Renegade Trailhawk is rated 4 just as a comparison. There is no 1 rated vehicle and the new electric Wrangler team is going for a score of 11 so...IMHO the whole 1-10 thing is meaningless anyway but there you have it. There is a method to the madness but the marketing team likes to screw things up for good measure every chance they get.
Bro, that hill was the big boy hill. It seems to me the difference here is tires, would love to know what tires you have and also the other beast that was getting through there easily. I learned a lot from this video. You’re a funny dude too, will subscribe.
Thanks man! I’m running 33 inch interco trxus MT (super swampers). Basically a road friendly version of a super swamper. Other guy is running 35 inch Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. I have those on my gladiator in 37 and I love em
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Man, I knew the super swampers can get the job done but I didn’t know the Mickey Thompson all-terrain bosses could do that. Good info, thanks man.
I’m running BFGoodrich at’s, but because I want to challenge my rig in more challenging terrain and environments I’m going to consider upgrading to those bosses soon🤙
Ya they’re quiet on road and so far they’ve impressed me off road so I would say they’re a good option for sure
Intense!!!!!!!!!!
Redlined for primetime!!
Question 🙋🏻♂️ did any of those trucks live to see tomorrow? Doesn’t water get in the engine and all that
Wish I was able to take my TJ out on those trails they look super fun, all we have down here is sand
I say the same thing when I see guy take their Jeeps in the desert or on the trails at Moab lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG for me it's the Florida woods, just sand, clay, and cake batter mud
I hear that, we all get tired of our local trails I feel
My TJ leaks on the passenger's side floorboard during rainfall too. Apparently there is a weatherstripping problem somewhere.
I’ve tried hunting it down but no luck
The little crv that could haha
The Rav4 needs a driver mod 😂 he can't drive for crap....the Honda thou 😏💪 good driving skills 💯
For the water getting in in the rain, check the bottom window seal it can look sealed but be leaking not from where the rubber attaches to the window but where it attaches to the window frame
Okay I’ll take a look at that too, thanks for the advice
@@SmokinMonkeyOG yeah no worries love to help a fellow tj owner out lol
i have a 70 high boy with dana 60/80 lockers roller 390 on 36.5 military tires with a 12,000 lb. dead lift pto winch only problem with it is i end up getting called all the time to pull people out a lot of new rigs . it don't have any lift all stock but engine
Lockers sure do help. Wouldn't want to buy that rental when it goes up for sale, but I guess you have to expect that it was used off road, it is a Jeep after all lol...
If you wouldn't want to buy the rental...why would you do it in your personal vehicle... unless the circumstances arise but not dog it for no reason just for fun
Because after I run in deep water, I immediately check all my drivetrain fluids for contamination and change the fluids accordingly. Seiously doubt that was done in the rental... @donharrus9994
One of my friends girlfriends got way too drunk at a bonfire and I drove her CRV back to her house, and being a dude that drives a miata and a 4.0 ranger thinking those were the slowest most torqueless vehicles made, the CRV was so incredibly slow and gutless i was sure something was wrong with it lol
we had a rav4 that was a tank in the snow and ice with winter tires on it. WAY better then the highlander of it's time. so surprised to see it have such a hard time.
It did well but I think the traction control was limiting it. It keeps kicking back on
Yeah you just need a old rav4 thats too old to have traction control and winter tires.
Your leak may be from the drain under your cowl being blocked. I had that issue. When it rains, my drivers side and passenger side would get water on the floor matts. You have to take the wipers off and then there is 7 screws you undo. You can find a youtube video. Just vacuum out under that cowl and you should be good. Mine was full of small leaves and oak pollen
Okay I’ll check it! Thanks for the tip
Good video brother. You Canucks do a different kind of wheeling.
Hey guys, you have some great episodes, great cars and locations..but I wonder why you don't have any Grand Cherokees from 1993-1998? It's made for these roads... I have a 1994 and they haven't released a car like this yet.. It's an American classic..
Thanks! To be honest I’m not sure why but they’re not that popular as off road rigs here. I think I know one guy that has one
This is why you never buy a rental lol. Great video man
Thanks lol
Damn dude you make some of the most enjoyable offroad adventure videos on CZcams. I thought you had over 100k subs. Keep it up you're going to be big one day. Most people just can't make the videos fun. Too much talking, too much cinematic b/s. With your videos it feels like we're right there with you enjoying the challenge.
p.s I LOVE iced up mud/snow pools. Some of the most fun you can have.
Thanks man really appreciate that!
Some Falken or Yokohama Geolanders would help the CRV
I drive a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 6-speed
The trail looks like 😁fun
The one thing I noticed is that a lot of guys have heavy driving off-road. I say make yourself comfortable take your coats off. Turn the heat up a little bit not a lot. Because these guys you get going I’m sweating your ass off. Next thing you know you get stuck you get out now you’re freezing. No way to have a good time. Get stuck. Put your coat on then go out. Trouble with people today they don’t know how to regulate the heat in their vehicle. Either turn it on high or they turn it off. They do the same with wipers. They’ll have variable speed, but they’ll either have it on high when it’s misting out or low when it’s down pouring.
That was awesome, but just out of curiosity, why do all those strap extensions instead of using trees for anchoring? Would have been much faster and safer, IMHO
If the guy bing pulled has no winch and the guy with the winch doesn’t want to come back any further to sink himself in the deep stuff then you use extensions to get the job done
The honda😮😮😮
What year is your TJ? I had a ‘97 and water would leak onto the passenger floor from the cowl vent in the hood. It was a common problem with the 97’s. From ‘98 on they shortened the vent. I assume that solved the problem because my ‘05 doesn’t have that problem.
2001 and I tried to clean that cowl vent out but it didn’t help much
A bone stock SAHARA!! BaBEEEE, Yall got me feelin’ like I wanna go kick up some DUST!!!🤔
Get me in their with my 2023 Kubota 1100C diesel and I'll pull anything out with ease. 😁
Looks awesome. Where’s this at?
Ontario Canada
Put=some decent tires on the RAV, such as Bridgestone Blizzaks.
Driving that rental Fort Frances Style
North West Bay, 'Eh? 😘
It was around this time here that my wife and I went to bring our son some fuel when he ran out on the trail. (He was on his quad and dumbass didnt check his fuel before taking off) We did it in a stock kia seltos- the ultimate "mom mobile". We got in about 2 k away from him before we had to turn around. I walked the jerry can the rest of the way .
Should have had him WALK to you for his gas can was his mistake....
I'm kinda surprised that there wasn't a Subaru Outback in there for some added fun.. lol
Ice is always sketchy. Just need one guy willing to chain up even on two to tow everybody out.
Never buy a rental jeep. Lol great video
Never buy a rental.
I have a JK Rubicon now, but my 2005 Ford Escape Limited would of done them trails as well.
Ya this one is a dirt road basically in the summer but it’s a good time when it’s covered in snow and ice. Definitely would be a good time for you
Instead of a monster winch, get lockers 😂
I gotta ask... why "gun it" on the hills? Doesn't slow and steady win the race? (4-low)
In snow and mud if you start to slip you’re not going to catch traction again on the hill and you’ll have to go all the way down backwards hoping not to slide off into the trees. We try to carry as much speed as we can to keep our momentum up so that once it does start to slip you can keep moving forward hopefully
Jeezzz ,Where are you located??? I want a have fun with you guys!!!
Ontario Canada
There is a drain whole where the windshield wiper motor is under the gril. That gets plugged up you can use a metal coat hanger to unplug it. Then rinse with clean water. It leaks from blower fan
Sweet I’ll check it! Thanks for the tip
@Smokin Monkey i only know because i had the same problem took me along time to figure it out. lol
Ya mines been like this for years lol
3:45 he'll my fuel gage is always on because I drive a 2001 dodge ram that has been getting a avg mph of 9mpg
Mice chewed through my sending unit wiring so no more fuel gauge for me lol
Tire chains make that kind traction much easier to get around.
We don’t really use them here where I live. Not even sure they are legal on the roads here so I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person that owns a set lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG They would have made a night and day difference. The RAV4 may have made it up the first hill with a pair.
We go out there to be stupid have fun and spin tires and slide around tire chains. Just sounds like a pain in the ass and it will ruin our fun.
I surprised how that little CRV did lol. It absolutely decimated the RAV4 hahaha
Ya man it surprises me every time but it actually does well out there for what it is
Are you guys airing down about eight pounds will help tremendously
I run 7psi in snow and 10psi on rocks. Definitely helps a ton
I have a Rubicon Recon and won't do this lol. .He's my prince 🤠
That’s why we do the crazy stuff so you don’t have to lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG fun to watch Lol
Lockers!
Tree savers, check. trees, check. winch, check. Did someone forget about the trees?

All over, muskoka, Halliburton, perry sound, bobcageon, barrie, Whitby, angus, Milton, shelbourbe lol anywhere we can find a place we go. If you wana come out message me on Instagram
@@SmokinMonkeyOG gotcha will dm u there! just subscribed! thanks again
Tire chains would be a wonderful addition. Just sayin
I am new to the Jeep community, I recently bought a 2019 jeep unlimited sport altitude, I came with 255/70R18 all-season tires, I would like to put a little more aggressive tires on it, I am not into rock crawling, only light trails is the plan for now. If I put spacers 1.5 or 2" high, I understand could fit bigger tires, but would I lose comfort when driving on the road? If this is the case, will Fox 2.0 or the Bilstein 5100 shocks help me get a smoother ride on the route? New subscriber here....
The spacer lift will definitely get you the clearance for larger tires but the ride will be the same if not a bit more harsh because of the heavier wheels and tires. If you can I would get a lift because the new shocks and springs will ride a lot better than stock on road and of course off road. Even my 2022 Gladiator Rubicon I’m planning to do a lift because of the ride quality over a spacer lift and I already have fox shocks from factory. Check out the mopar lift or anything that runs the fox shocks or possibly falcons. Bilstein is also a very good brand and I would run them myself if I got em for a good price too.
For tires the BF Goodrich KO2 will be perfect for light trails, snow and mud. But they’re great on road with lighter weight than most other all terrain tires to save on fuel. My other option would be a falcon wildpeak I have them on my gladiator and I love them on road and off road
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Thank you for your recommendation.
I was thinking of a leveling kit not much maybe 1.5 to 2" and changing the shocks for better ones. I just want to maybe be able to fit 33".
Will this work and still give me a better ride on the pave that the stock shock?
The Mopar kit is out of my budget at the moment, this is the reason I am trying to save a little bit by not going with a complete lift kit but a leveling kit and new shocks.
Ya that would give you a better ride than stock if you go that route
I have a 14' 2dr Rubicon stock still and the tire choice is key to wheeling for me. If I lift mine it will be a max 2" because jeep did all the R&D to make it good. When you build your jeep up,bigger this and that, is when things break, not going that route I have a winch to get me out,up, over what ever stops me. "Lockers before lightbars"✌😆
For a good comfort feel. 4.5 inches and 33s feels pretty darn good. And is pretty darn good when youre not rock crawling.
Is there a Pub at the top.
Not that I know of lmao
did that rav4 have its transfer case locked?
Not sure
OMG ya'll got a Rav4 out there too?! Somebody's brain isn't firing on all pistons!🤣
on my jeep the leak was the seal under the windshield of you flip the windshield down you'll see it simple fix...
Definitely could be that, my windshield frame is old and most likely rusting too
People don't realize the importance of tires. I think the Rav4 would had done much better with better tires.
I'm new to the group, What's up with the Leprechaun or Irish named Jeep???. Can't exactly remember the name.
I’ll have to ask him next time why he named it shamrock but it is green so maybe that’s why lol
Rav4 just needs some better tires
Were you in 4low on that final hill climb?
Yup
at 31:35 if I had to guess what the smell was I would say the oil cooler was leaking from him being hard on the gas the oil cooler on the 3.6 is garbage the rubber O-rings will start leaking from all the oil that is force through I'm pressing the Accelerator too fast add this happened to me in Moab
Good observation and I’m sorry to hear you had that experience man
BLD makes a BIG difference. That's what I keep seeing over and over again. I mean we kind of already knew that.
I'm just curious why they are not using tire chains?😅
Chains are illegal on our roads and nobody’s gonna buy them just to go off road and make it through the trail. We like to go out there and have a good time. Our rigs are built for rock crawling when it snows we just go out to play around and if we slide around the more fun, it is.
hook the vehicle thats winching to a tree as its pulling the other vehicle. that way you have a stable point to hold the main vehicle pulling ad it doesnt get pulled down and cause a accident.
just to learn more, you where in 4Lo right all the time ?
Yes it give you better control and less strain on the engine
@@SmokinMonkeyOG thanks 🙌
I wonder how my Power Wagon would fair. Probably wouldn’t even fit 😂.
You would do fine my buddy was there with his AT4 and it fit perfectly
