“So you came in this way and looking for a way out”. Matt doesn’t seem pleased that this guy took a Jeep onto MTN bike trails. I mean these trails are clearly single track in the video. Actions like this get the trails closed for everybody. Kudos for MORR getting that Jeep out with a minimum of trail damage.
It’s tough when you get lost. I must say trail apps like OnX do help this. It’s easy to get in trouble even on a trail that is designed for vehicles, but it’s washed out or destroyed in a way where you have no options to get out easily.
Not making excuses for the Jeep owner, however, I live right near this area and two track and single track trails make up this area and some of them do crisscross. It's not too difficult to make a wrong turn and and up on the wrong trail that starts out wide and narrows quickly. Don't know if that's what happened here, just adding some first hand experience.
@@Rubiflake I hear ya as I have done a lot of trails in UT but in the beginning when the customer wanted Matt to drive into the trailhead that had the dividers clearly there for single track only and Matt would not go that way was kind of a red flag for me of the Jeep driver.

Because they tolerate them being closed. Don't let sugar daddy tell you how you use your public land.
@@wakejoe The tragedy of the commons is a real thing. Treat the places with respect if you want them to still exist.
I'm glad Matt has the ability to not ask "How stupid are you?" to some of his customers. I know I'd struggle with that part. As my mom would say "some people have more money than brains".
In this morons case he could be to broke to write a i o u and still have some money left over compared to brains
I’d definitely have ended up asking him who the hell helped you get dressed this morning because you sure the hell ain’t smart enough to do it alone
No matter what a customer does, he pays the bill . Why would you chew out a person that’s paying you good money?
This "driver"( not 19:02 ) is the perfect example of more money (entitled) than brains.... you're a good guy, Matt.... Ida probly hooked to it and drug it up while it was still in its top...
This guy should be fined AND banned from the trails...
"some people have more money than brains" the sad part about that statement is that a lot of those people doesn't even have all that much money.
I just don't understand why I can watch Matt's videos without skipping. All the jobs are similar, yet so different from each other. I have to say good editing, whoever did it.
Good job to Matt & his crew recovering the Jeep. The Jeep owner is a perfect example of why off road vehicle trails are being closed, especially in Utah. This Jeep owner should be fined for his own ignorance & stupidity🇺🇸

Ron Howard: "They couldn't."
You sir, just won the comments
Matt, ...at least You were able to remove all the scratches with this recovery finesse, as you gently rolled it onto its wheels.
Need another articulation setup on the wrecker to adjust the camber in or out 45 degrees. Then it can straddle more, and fit on narrower trails.
This is one instance where we miss Lizzy. The only time she ever looked scared (Matt did too) was the time she had to freewheel that truck down that steep hill. Otherwise she never questioned or complained about what was asked of her no matter how dodgy. She is sorely missed.
Where did she go?
That was scary to watch let alone be there but she took it in her stride and I have done some sketchy stuff.
Got married and moved to their farm which is always what she wanted to do. She is a cowgirl at heart and her husband is very farm/horsey as well. Great couple.

A bunch of people mad that a dude actually went off-roading.

When the trail signs say two wheels only that is what it means! He was lucky it started and was drivable! Great job with Matts crew!
He’s also lucky Matt didn’t call the authorities and refuse to do the job because he can’t access it legally (even though I think Matt has some leeway with accessing trails)

Thought Matt was going to explode when the customer told him just go through this gate which was a restricted access Matt wasn’t happy at all. But once again he was professional and got em 😂
I thought he didn't get through it because his truck is so wide
When I was a rookie off roader, I made a lot of mistakes. I learned quickly that my vehicle was not indestructible and couldn’t go just anywhere. I think that people just getting into off roading should only go out with off road clubs until they gain some experience. That’s what I should have done. It would have saved me a lot of money and I wouldn’t have had to spend the night in my vehicle in the middle of nowhere more than once.

Matt seems super pissed at that customer for being on a single track trail and just doing his best to hold his composure…
Absolutely! It's not legal in most areas and actually causes folks to complain and then trail closures start.
Not only did it make the rescue take forever finding him, it forced Matt off the trail. And this is the sort of thoughtless entitled behavior that gets off roading banned. There are groups constantly lobbying and suing the government to shut down trails. Going off the trail, dumping trash, driving drunk, that all gives them fuel to get trails shut down. And you can tell the customer was off trail on purpose, trying to play dumb like he didn't know.
I'm calling it off trail, I know technically he was on a trail. But not a trail Jeeps are allowed on so that's off trail in my book.
ESPECIALLY with all the trail closures in Utah
As he should be, it’s idiots like that guy that get trails closed along with the people that litter
Yes every right to be p***** off because these are the kinds of people that are ruining it for all the others when the number one looks like he drove on private property to get down there and the other thing that he did wrong was go down way to narrow trail .
This type of Jeep owner should sell that vehicle and get something to drive on the street only .
"We don't encourage this, but we have to do it."
Solid quote from Rhett
Matt is the best at holding his composure. He’s seriously the example of how to be a man. Always lending out a hand, awesome husband, father, & friend. The dude is just cool
I agree. Matt is a model for a real man and stays under control in the face of adversity.
I agree but I also don’t think they would upload videos of him bitching about stupid customers. 😂

The area where you dropped the wrecker off the rollback is the Cove Wash area. There are a lot of bike trails there and rolling along the bottom of the mesas headed east from there. But further out in the desert more towards the Jeep,I don't think people use that much for mountain biking. That seems more for motorcycles.
Lately the biggest threat to the bike trails has just been urban sprawl in that area.

Had something similar happened outside of Rowher Flats OHV in California. Guy went on a bike trail, slid down 200 ft into brushes, fortunately didn't roll, but was riding on bike trails where he shouldn't have been there. We did some volunteer work for the BLM and Parks service on trail cleanup and maintenance and had a office call us to get the guy pulled out, took an old Hummer with a warn winch and a good day to get buddy pulled out. He showed up wearing flip flops and we were like "man you got to climb through all that brush to get to your truck and you are here with flip flops?" he did get fined as well .
"Yeah, I'm not worried about that." Matt's comment about hitting the rock probably as snarky as Matt gets, and totally called for in this case.

@rjtumble I can't really answer for this case but in Sweden and I assume also US when someone gets stranded somewhere illegal it's the authorities or landowner who calls a towtruck/rescue vehicle. If it's the owner who calls then those above are still going to be involved.

At my work handling huge sheets of glass and lots of laminated too, cutting the glass into all manner of shapes and sizes, my point being were I to drive that or any vehicle after a collision that has a laminated or broken windscreen I would definitely wear eye protection.
