I am starting reconstruction in a couple of weeks. After breast cancer I got an infection and had to have the tissue expanders removed. I have a problem I have not heard addressed. I have scoliosis with the most curve in my upper back. This affects how my breasts look. I am concerned that one breast will appear larger than the other and/or one lower than the other. Please any advice would be appreciated. Is there a type of doctor who would be best to advise me. I have a great plastic surgeon but I still fear that the outcome will be less than desired due to my special needs. Thank you!
Thank you for all the great information. Regarding implant placement, will one of the determinations be how much upper breast volume has been lost? Also, I have concern about possible mammogram interference. Does implant placement matter?
I almost always place implants submuscular. It lowers the rate of capsular contracture significantly. In addition, it looks much more natural because the muscle provides covering over the implant so its not as round on the top. I've also noticed the implants drop less over time when they are protected under the muscle.
Omg thank you sooo much! You are so super educated, well spoken, this has helped me so much!!
THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE dr.B!!!!,do you have any tips for mtf patients?
