I love your videos and books Dr. Mark. Iâm down 30 pounds by eating real food. And Iâm never hungry.
Did you do the young forever meal.plan?
@@marineolvr I didnât really do a plan, other than stick to real food. I did a lot of fasting the first several months though.
Lack of sleep will cause weight gain. Most people do not get enough QUALITY sleep
And if you're dealing with chronic, never ending pain; you can't sleep well, which puts you in a bad downward spiral.
I work night shift and Iâm sure it affects me the same as lack of sleep
This channel and it's exploratory teaching has been a major drive for me as I give back 50% of my weekly earning ($22,000) to the sick old ones in my neighborhood. God bless America đșđž

I'm genuinely curious to know how you earn that much monthly

Her top notch guidance and expertise on digital market changed the game for me
I was on a 1200 cal a day diet and couldn't lose weight, I was hungry and obsessing over tracking. Now I probably eat double that of wholefoods, meat, fish, eggs, veggies and little fruit with some carbs (quinoa or sweet potatoes) before my period and I also fast. I lost a lot of belly fat and I'm at my best shape - I'm close to 40 years old.

Thank you thank you thank you Dr. Hyman!! This was exceptional! Your work has changed my life for the better. Owe you one, brah. MAHALO!!
I think post menopause weight is a completely different animal. There is almost too much information out there. My head is on a swivel.
Check out Dr.Mary Clare Halver, she wrote the Galveston diet
Iâm 63, post-menopausal for 13 years, generally healthy, no HRT. Hereâs what works for me: Intermittent fasting (16/8 or 18/6), minimal processed food, high protein (100+gm/day), high-ish healthy fat, fiber (20+gm/day), lower carb (

This video is (by FAR) the most information-dense video I've ever watched on CZcams!
THANK YOU!
I recall joining a gym to get lean, lose 10 pounds. They gave me a meal plan that was so much food I was almost sick eating it all. Sure enough the first week I lost a pound a day. There was a lot of exercise too, but for me it was different activity (instead of riding my bike, I was in the gym).
Same with the diabetes menu. Spent a weekend with two friends with Type 2 and my goodness their meal consumption was way too much. I had to call them out on it and skipped out on three of our planned meals just to get a break.
Thanks for the information Dr. Hyman! Its a lot to take in but very helpful!
Thanks so much for your help explaining this and shedding light to this issue! You are awesome đ
Great information! Thank you â€

Great review
Dump the Ultra-Processed Food , 2 years ago I felt 75 + years old, nowđź, I feel more like 45, I'm actually 60, I'm feeling better each and Every month, in a years time, I'll probably be 40 again . â€
100% Mark! You have got to look at the whole picture and not just calories in and out and not just carbohydrate intake. I am not a doctor but a coach that helps people UNdiet to lose weight & gain health the way you talk about and addressing all of the weight loss aspects you talk about.
Great content as always, thank you! I will add though, most people counting calories have NO CLUE what they're consuming... they think they're smearing 1 tablespoon of peanut butter onto their apple and it's actually 2 tablespoons (+100 cal)... or think those healthy looking vegetables at the restaurant are low cal, but they're swimming in 200 calories of oil... or that 1/3 cup of tuna or chicken salad loaded with 300 calories of mayo. ;)
Love this
Thank you for this information
Im a slim person trying to lose enough weight for my summer sixpack, eating the same food every day that will make you lose weight only worked shortly for me, because your body is intelligent and it starts using the same food more effectively and starts storing fat even thou that same food were making you lose weight the previous week.
Reading Young Forever, very impressed with the research and all the content for the latest science. Everyone should read this. Thanks!
We are trying really hard to complicate this. The people who claim to be in a calorie deficit, yet not seeing weight loss, are NOT in a calorie deficit. When speaking of nutrients and how it may affect your health, no not every calorie is the same obviously, when speaking of energy they are all the same.
Definitely disagree with this conclusion. If I eat a piece of cake, I feel like crap and my energy tanks and I want to lay down and do nothing. If I eat an apple I feel energized and want to go for a walk or move around in some way. So even if they had the same number of calories, I would much more easily and readily (without trying) burn more calories from the healthier more nutrient dense food. I am certain my non exercise energy thermogenesis changes drastically based on the type of food I eat.
@@Rosemari753 Sure, certain foods are definitely going to affect your energy levels, sugar is a quick up and a quicker down; however, energy expenditure is completely up to you regardless of how you feel or what you eat.
The most effective tool for me, by far, was walking several miles a day...........combined with intermittent fasting.
How many is several?
@@darkkstar5647 I'm guessing it's five miles (same route). Takes an hour and a half. I will starting rucking with a weighted vest in a couple of days. My last meal is by noon at the latest.
I have the same question.â@@darkkstar5647

100 miles đł
That helped me go from 250 lbs to 200lbs in a matter of 4 months. Also stopped eating fast food. This along with some exercise makes me feel better about myself
Btw. Thank you. Another great one.
Thanks for posting this. ABC News recently reported on a research paper that hasnât been peer reviewed yet, that says that counting calories and intermittent fasting give the same result. Why would ABC News report on a paper that hasnât been peer reviewed yet?
News network sponsors are pharmaceutical companies. Therefore, they promote illogical info supporting their sponsors and even get paid for promoting nonsense.
The food industry has them in their corner
â@JonathanNielsen-bd1bxI was thinking the same thing.
I donât understand why he says over the last decade our calorie count has gone down but our weight has gone up. With the SAD diet that is highly palatable and full of calories which create increase consumption would lead to increase calories not less. đ
I was thinking the same thing. It seems to me that most Americans nowadays are consuming ULTRA-PROCESSED JUNK like there's no tomorrow!!!!!!
This is wayyyyy too much information in one video! It never takes a pause and whatâs up with the constant edits?? Couldnât the good doctor break this down to a simplified 30 minute video or even part one and part two ? This is insane!!
AGREE, He was talking so fast , like he had too much to say and not enough time to say it.
Im doing what works for me....I count calories,,,,eat low carb, no sugar and work out 5 days a week i lost 8 pounds,,,, thats all i needed to lose...
Because you are eating in a way that doesnât provoke insulin spikes, it works!
â@@pepenergynope its because hes in a calorie deficit. I start every day with a boston cream donut and get 50 percent of my calories from carbs. Youre delusional
@@CM-ou4zrnope! You are projecting your delusion. Many people donât lose weight if they eat donuts, even if they eat less calories! Dr. Jason Fung speaks about this!

I try low card, being a carb - aholic , most veggies i love are carbs......broccoli...peas....corn, cruciferous veggies are not so gut friendly for me? I try asparagus , carrots, beets, lettuce. Quinoa instead of rice but found out same difference.
Typical Mark Hyman - word salad, trail mixed of diets, facts soap.
I love it.
Full disclosure - I bought one of Markâs book, highly recommended.
Every body is different, while knowing the science is a part, it is not the full knowledge. Carb flexing may be an option for I have been stuck at the same weight for far too long. You cannot maintain twenty carbs a day, well I can't. Short spurts of exercise many times a week is also what I am trying to not make too much cortisol.
Letâs not forget time and patience
Hypothyroidism is slowing my metabolism down.
Moi aussi
"Indigestibility" is the word. When I eat nuts and seeds at least 30-40% of them come out the other end completely undigested, so that obviously isn't effecting my weight gain. However, highly refined foods digest and are absorbed completely. Anything made of sugar and or flour, powdered foods, is quick and easy to absorb and store as fat. Fat and high quality (animal) protein also dissolves and absorbs fast. The difference is the excess carbs can't do anything but become fat. Dietary fat and amino acids can be used as building blocks for every cell in the body, not just fat cells. Building things has the side effect of using more energy, raising metabolism. Imagine that.
Dr. Human, I have a brother who has been sick for about 2 years now. The doctors have tested all sorts of things and almost all test come back normal with the exception of polyps that were found in his stomach. He is unable to eat much. Almost everything cause him to feel extremely fatigue. He eats mostly chickpeas, sweet potatoes and now broccoli. The problem is that he is located in the Caribbean, St. Lucia to be exact. How do we get access to your testing services. Is there anyway to do this remotely?.
Which Cortisol test to get? Blood, urine, saliva, AM PM both, 2 specimens or 4? Labcorp has 9 to choose from. Thanks.
When you use the term "belly fat," are you SPECIFICALLY referring to visceral fat OR the subcutaneous fat between your abdominal skin and the abdominal muscles?đ€

Love you and your podcasts and books. I am watching this podcast now and am finding you are talking so fast it is hard to follow and grasp the information. You have such great information but you are going so fast....it looks like you may be reading some of it...maybe that is why it is easy to talk so fast. Just a suggestion..... love all the things you are doing and the fact that you do the podcasts etc. Thank you for all you do.

Functional med is very expensive !!!
Will you be doing a review of the new Ornish study for Alzheimer's??
So what do we do to lose weight. I think that should be emphasised. The so what?????
43:50 - Iâm sure you meant 1g/# of ideal body weight
Low carb causes water weight loss and thatâs the difference in my opinion.
SOOO tell us how we do eatting better and intermittent fasting? I.F. is starving our body and we dont ant to do that?
Not starving... switches our energy from glucose to fat.
Not starving at all...limiting insulin spikes so your blood sugar levels out and your body will start to release fat instead of storing. IF also heals many sick systems in your bidy
Guys. Track your calories religiously for 1 month. You will lose weight. Eat high protein, workout 2-3 times a week, and walk daily. If you're a fat slob, like i was, the fat will disintegrate.
Thanks for showing that good old calorie counting works. You just have to be religious about it. The good news is that then you can enjoy the tropical fruits, the starches. The treat I'm moderation...You gotta enjoy life...His diet sounds joyless.
Even with counting your calories Iâm sure youâve eliminated highly processed foods which are very high calorie dense.
Iâve never counted a calorie in my life. Iâve lost 80lbs by eating real food.
Period.
@@user-hk9zg2jy1u Good job! That's what happens when you eat foods that aren't caloricly dense. You're put into a deficit without even noticing.
Talking is too fast. No time to âdigestâ the information. Listen to Shawn Stevenson as an example of an effective and pleasant way of delivering the information. I want this information, but itâs hard to listen to,

I lost 18 kgs / 39 lbs doing OMAD.
NEAT, with resistance training and no specific cardio was done.
It worked for me - but there is no guarantee it would work for anyone else.
When tracked which was rare - my intake comprised of 60% fat and 20% each from carbs and Protein.
Did I lose fat and muscle - no doubt - only a DEXA would have confirmed it.
That said - having less fat covering the muscle I had, made the reflection very pleasing to the eye.
OMAD... may not be ideal, but I guess trying that approach for fat loss and NOT neglecting resistance training would be more favourable than opting for a quick fix, pharma injectable, pill. lotion or powder approach.
My bottom line is, which ever path one decides to take, ideally not via pharma, make it so it can be done with consistency and does not end up being a chore.
As always - thank you for uploading and sharing.
