ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE
A new video every Monday! Visit Jay Leno's Garage, the Emmy-winning series where Jay Leno gives car reviews, motorcycle reviews, compares cars, and shares his passion and expertise on anything that rolls, explodes, and makes noise. Classic cars, restomods, super cars like the McLaren P1, sports cars like Porsche 918 Spyder and Camaro Z28, cafe racers, vintage cars, and much, much more. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Amazing and not just the cars. Pininfarina was infamous for the designers within the corporate name of being "nameless" at times in their history. The fact they brought Dave Amantea in to talk about the design work he did -- I think it is just incredible. Glad to see it!!!
Pininfarina has been famous I thought from the 1950s for beautiful vehicle designs. Didn’t know it was from the 1930s!
from mazda to chevrolet, from volvo to hyundai, from testarossa to even vinfast, they have had their design all over the world literally.
@@JohnSmith-pn2vlThe headlights on the car they’re driving has sort of the same proportions as the 2005 C6 Corvette.
@@JohnSmith-pn2vl Yes. And what I like about Pininfarina is that they designed beautiful cars in all segments as well. Incredible, unattainable supercars but good looking affordable cars as well (Alfa Romeo, Peugeot, etc.)
@@JohnSmith-pn2vlthey also design appliances like fridges, washers, & dryers, and the soda machines that Burger King uses.
The interior of that white prototype was beautiful. All 3 cars were objects of art. One can see why they are the premier car designers for the last 90+ years. Thanks for the look at these vehicles.
*The family truckster isn't a work of art. It's a middle-finger to art.*
The advanced EV tech remains Hybrid Plug-in PHEV evolving to PHEV+H combustible hydrogen. Tesla 'S' BEV road lizard sedans are a cliche. Tesla BEV Trucks an inexcusable waste of battery resources. PHEV for long haul trucking a no-brainer. Divest Daimler
@@artlewellan2294 *For those of you looking at dumb acronyms, he means "hybrids," "hydrogen cars," and the regular electric car.* Then hybrid semis.
@@hulkhatepunybanner
Are you seriously about to call the Purosangue ugly?
@@artlewellan2294
Gases spewed out by the exhaust are no longer useful. Batteries have another half life as energy storage before being recycled. Nearly all of the raw materials is recovered. Hybrids makes sense now in areas without a proper charging infrastructure, but it won't make sense for long. Energy density continues to increase while prices are coming down. And don't get me started on hydrogen. Most of the hydrogen would be produced the cheap, dirty way using natural gas if it was the fuel that took over. The hydrogen is also kept at immense pressure, corroding the tanks. To maintain pressure and temperature, there is also a wait time between fuelling at each pump. It is a lot less expensive to install charging stations. Much better getting electricity directly from renewable sources, and power grids worldwide are getting cleaner every year.
Yes, it's Rimac Nevera, but looks much better. Styling isn't the strongest side of Nevera and Pininfarina fixed this.
true, what's the coefficient of drag on this ?
@@taseenjubair6972 0.3.
You call this styling and claim it looks better than the Nevera? 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed rimac also sounds like a brand of Dildo, aswell as being ugly af!
Yeah but the CEO doesnt mention that is a NEVERA...he talks like they created the car...they just redesigned it a little bit
The shot at 25:20 of him pulling out of the garage truly shows how beautiful this car is. Best looking mirrors I’ve ever seen on a car
That turn signal sound is outrageous! 🤣🤣
At least the light and the sound is in sync... Even GM doesn't bother with that detail
I thought the radio turned on haha
When I buy one of these (in my dreams!), that noise must not be incorporated into my car. It's bloody obnoxious.
Haha Doubles as a boom box.
you can always bet for an Italian car to have something wacky with it
The way that the spoiler retracts to match the body lines looks amazing. It also looks great extended.
All three cars are stunning and spectacular. The future is bright indeed.
This is probably the first electric car that i actually like. Thank you Pininfarina!
Gorgeous body work and as you would expect from Pininfarina designs. The technology is awesome in Carbon fibre construction. Thanks for sharing Jay .
I have now watched all 44 minutes. And have heard the word emotion a thousand times. I haven't heard any explanation as to why this car arouse such emotion.
At the end of the day it's an electric car.
Well, there's the anger of the ICE enthusiasts. There's the sadness of those Africans that Jay says can legally import the thing but who do not have the roads to support it. There's my passionate laughter at those who want to spend 2 large (I mean million) for a Plaid/Taycan in an Italian suit! Don't get me wrong, I love EVs. My Model 3 with a suspension upgrade, that allows it handle well, is faster than the vast majority of cars in history and cost me 65K and less that 10 bucks for each full charge while I sleep. Joy!
@@lawrencesiskind3554 electric cars have no charm
Italian outside, Croatian inside! 😉
That turn signal sound! It's like my old Casio VL-Tone mini keyboard! :D
I'm curious how fast this accelerates compared to the Lotus Evija. I drove the Evija in the GRID Legends videogame and it scared the crap out of me!
The Evija just GOES! Like it's going to lightspeed! It's unbelievable! Electric hypercars are completely bonkers!
Thanks for showing this car. It’s out of every normal persons price point. It was beautiful! 💯👍
how much? im sure my piggybank can handle the amount
We can't all have it, but we can all dream
Great episode I literally live a few miles from Jay's garage. So funny to see that car driving the streets of Burbank and Sun Valley. Thanks for sharing. Miss Bernard wish he could jump into one of these videos next time.
you lucky cat!
Do you know the 0 to 60 time
I live in Sunland, and I've spotted him in the neighborhood once or twice. I also used to see Singers doing shakedown runs when they were in Sun Valley.
Know that area well, keep waiting to see a Big Jims sign
normally I skip your electric episodes, but Pininfarina is my favorite automobile designer. I was not disappointed--this is an incredibly beautiful sewing machine--likely the most beautiful electric appliance ever built. Unfortunately a battery has no soul
People were saying the same thing about missing the smell of horseshit from riding around on a horse when internal combustion cars were coming about. These cars are more efficient and dont release toxic fumes as well.
@@TotallyJoelBut there's no Audio, no listening pleasure, Fuel Cars, are still better from an imotive stand point.
The acceleration of that thing is crazy! It's just gone! Very nice looking car, and it's crazy fast, but I really miss an engine note. Call me a Luddite, but it's like it's missing an emotional context. Given that, it's still an incredible car. Thanks Paolo, Dave, and Jay and crew for another great episode!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
I love how unfazed that guy is when Jay is really getting into it and pushing it a little, lol. Just like it's a normal thing that happens, lol.
Call him a Luddite.
I agree. They are works of art, but feels like its unfinished when there's no exhaust note.
Stunning
Every door, latch, hinge, etc sounds like music. Bravo!
Mikel
The shoes squeaking on the floor say a lot about the level that Jay keeps his shop.
The car is undoubtedly beautiful,but... I don't like the talk as they developed and engineered the car alone from ground up. Everybody knows it's just a Rimac Nevera with their body. Nothing wrong with that, but give credit where credit is due
A distinct triumph for the house of Pininfarina! Anyone who knows of the great Ferrari autos of the 70's and 80's, will know that those incredible body designs were all by Pininfarina. Being visually impaired most of my life, I will never know the joy of driving any car. I can however, enjoy looking at an ingenious, world class, automobile. I now digress, because I've reminded myself of the impact retinitis has crippled my life. This was exciting, yet all together depressive to me.
Jay, I have loved you since your first appearance on the Tonight
show. I have held my tongue until now. We are both 'getting up there'. But this test drive it seemed you spent more time outside on on the lines than between them. Love you man. Stay between the lines, the lines are OUR friends.
Mister Leno I want to thank you for presenting those beautiful cars, and although for history and the story's behind. Keep on going 👍 greetings from Germany
I'm so glad Jay got to share these beautiful cars with the world. It says something when design companies want show their new products on a popular utube channel
Thanks Bill. I, for one, enjoyed the airplane review even though my airplane knowledge begins and ends with knowing that they fly through the air haha. I hope you will occasionally do some more reviews of things other than cars and trucks. Maybe a Cigarette boat? Helicopter? Military tank? Fancy airboat? Whatever you find I'm sure I will watch 😊
hyped for the electric future
Thanks Jay
You are a very good CZcamsr, I love your videos. ❤
These are incredible cars! Very beautiful and I’m sure they’re impressive to drive. Theres just something that you miss with an electric car, driving a car that you can rev to the moon and control by shifting manually gives you so much more theater. Some soul is lost without an engine or transmission.
Yes. The cultural component is what we are conditioned to expect - just as ‘we’ might have the ability to learn to appreciate a fine carriage and excellent team if we could be transported back 150 years, it won’t be our ingrained culture, our ‘natural’ response at the depth of emotions. Which is nearly the same as us driving a pandering electric car.
That’s how I view it.
That's just some imaginary BS. "Some soul is lost" lmfao
some soul and meat also, it will need hours to recharge you cant just fill up and go
@@fidelcatsro6948 range and charge times for EVs are a non-issue at this point.
Agreed.

The turn signal sounds like a heart beat probably designed that way, the Italian just go that step further, it makes the car into a living entity fantastic or should I say Fantastico. Thanks Jay
Yeah the only thing I would rip out if I could afford one. That would be grinding after a while IMHO
@@jaykay8779 There's has to be a way of turning it down. Or what about matching earplugs just for corners at about £10000.
@@jaykay8779 Hi I forgot about this, years ago I had a Morris minor car on the end of indicator/trafficator stalk was a bulb with a green cover ( standard factory fitment ) the buld popped one day, new bulb but wrong wattage. Was OK in day but at night when indicating you could see the reflection of your face flashing on the windscreen, you look like the Hulk or a green ghost. My lad use to nearly wet himself laughing, partner stuck a sticker on it but some little hands use to take it off.
Always nice to see folks who have a passion for their work. That’s something that is often missing here where accounting folks decide who to build things - from cars to houses - which always leaves something missing.
Great job❤❤❤❤
its a RIMAC underneath,
RIMAC did All the tech development

Not true, rimac c2 chassis, motors battery etc. Pininfarina designed the whole body, suspension tuning, brakes, interior etc.

Well thought out design.
The transitions on the forms and the details are second to none. This is a sculpture of the modern era on par with anything from the past.

Got my 1st one a year ago. Hotwheels, but still. I never thought I'd see the real car. I wonder if you can choose a different drum kit for the turn signal sound; at over $2 million you'd think you'd get a better sound than 80s TR-808. So it's a German based company with roots in Italian design Pininfarina using a Croatian battery pack from Rimac. My Hotwheels is all Malaysian and is very quiet and quick, too. 👀
Tr-808 is legendary so idk how that’s an insult
German based? Where do they come into the picture, there's nothing German about this.
From Germany, we manage and coordinate projects of our German customers for the entire Pininfarina Group

design, engieering, business, crafting, etc in italy. hq of the automobili pininfarina in germany and both automobili pininfarina (started in 2018 as the pininfarina branded manufacturer) and the parent pininfarina spa (designer since 1930) are both owned by indian giant mahindra (if they had not bought it would have gone bankrupt)
Cool, a stylish rolling battery pack
“Cool, a soulless noisy smoke maker.” Horse owner, probably, 1910.
@@jstogdill Faulty comparison. Massive advantage to owning a relatively simple, relatively inexpensive automobile vs. boarding and care for a horse, caused rapid, nearly universal, and willing adoption of the motorcar. None of these comparative advantages exist for evs vs. ICE in September 2023. In fact, the market is highly manipulated and regulated by governments with tax incentives to consumer and producer and punitive disincentives for petroleum automobile producers.
There will eventually be simpler and more efficient tech to generate and store electricity to power vehicles. In September 2023 it's not yet available, they're giant battery packs on wheels, the equivalent of the steam powered automobile phase before ICE development.
@@nmatthew7469 it seems like you are suggesting they are selling only because of market manipulation. That is patently untrue.
@@jstogdill they're not selling, everyone who wants one has one, mostly Tesla. Ford for example can't sell the mustang Mach e or lightning, piling up on dealer lots.
Jay you Italians are the epitome of style and finesse!
wow those are SICK. cutting edge while still timeless in the proportions and curves. Some really neat design details in all of them. Pininarina and Ferrari should get back together. It's just the firey on and off again relationship that would make the ultimate car. Imagine if those were red and had screaming V12s in them
Even if I could afford one I think that indicator/turn signal noise would put me off.
Thank you, Mr. Leno, for another amazing electric car review🙏🏽
It would have been a perfect interview if you would have brought up the range of any of them.
The most beautiful new car out there today. Period.
Beautiful and fast cars.
I'm just happy that the era of stupid fast, great handling cars didn't die in the 70s or 80s. Like most car fans, I have other places my money needs to go, but I love the way technology and clever engineering has kept the dream alive. It's been my experience that cutting edge toys always, eventually, filter down to reasonably affordable over time. This gives me hope.
modern cars are faster and handle better than 70's/80's cars.........
Can it drive from LA to Vegas in one charge at flow of traffic speeds?
Don’t count on it.
Can any exotic of a similar character with ice do that? Ice version of this would get 10mpg hwy if even that! 😀
Yes 👍
The passion that has gone into that Battista... now I want one! (Let me dream!)
The car literally jumps out of the frame of the shot when Jay nails it!
The front end "face" of the two concept cars are very similar, like a great big smile, while the Battista seems a little more aggressive, but why not. 1900 HP is a lot of get up and go. Holy smokes! I didn't hear a specific number on the range, I guess that depends on which driving mode you are in, plus the regen helps. I guess you could easily do a couple hundred miles or so. Look very very nice as well.
Incredible assortment of car-exotica. Also have to agree with Jay regarding the Italian ‘passion’ in the design and build. At one time I owned just about every brand of motorcycle out there - my Moto Guzzi always had the most of that ineffable ‘soul’ and character. (And sheesh, I even like that guys BELT for God’s sakes!) Another great one Jay - thank you again!!
Belisimo!

Nice 1 Jay yellow and black is my color just like my Hudson stinger
Around 1974, i was working as a mechanic at a gas station in Los Gatos. The owner had more than one gas station. The guy that was running another station in San Jose had just quit and I was put in his place.
The guy who quit was working on one of our good customers 1966(?) Ferrari 500 Superfasts. The clutch had gone out and he replaced the clutch with one from Rover (apparently the same clutch).
He had gotten the clutch installed but that was as far as he'd gotten. None of the linkage, etc, had been reassembled.
I knew the customer and had put gas in the car several times. The car owner was apparently beside himself when he learned his car was sitting in a gas station still disassembled. Since I was familiar with the car owner, i was entrusted to put it back together.
Great! Not!
Well, I actually figured it out in short order. The car owner was often out of town and left instructions for the car to be driven while he was gone and to give it a tune-up and full service.
Did you know there are a bazillion grease fittings on a Ferrari??? 😅
I was happy to drive the car a few miles everyday and would use it to go pick up my lunch from a local fast food joint.
Los Gatos has a lot of monied customers. While returning from Jack in the Box one day, another customer I was friendly with pulled up beside me at a light in his dragster 68 Road Runner with a 440.
So, of course, the light changes to green and we both nail it for about a 1/8th mile. I'm happy to report my tune-up seemed to have worked well as I had a good half car length on my friend.
Ah, memories. I'm so glad no one ever found that out or the numerous other things that went on while the boss was away!

As my father would have said she's a corker. I am curious what is the price what is the range and how long does it take to charge. Thanks Jay you always bring us the best stuff old and new.
They start at 2 million USD onwards based on how you spec it. If you want unpainted perfectly symmetrical exposed carbon it'll be another 250k more. If I remember correctly, they offer a track pack in the form of their _Anniversario_ model which has a bit more aero elements n a fixed wing. It's capable of doin 0-62mph in under 1.9 seconds n achieves a 222mph top speed. It supposedly can do upto 300 miles from one full charge under "normal" driving, so under real world conditions you can expect about 220-250 miles. If you purchase their fast charger setup, you supposedly can get it charged from zero to 80% in under 40mins or 20-80% in 25 mins. It's technically a Rimac Nevera that's been rebodied n dressed up by Pininfarina. The Nevera is one of the most capable road going EVs out there, so they definitely chose a great platform to build upon.
I still think I'd rather own a Miata long term than this.
Somehow “long term” ownership and 1900 HP seem incongruous.
But at least they’ll die rich.
That is not a exclusive choice for people who can afford the car. They could have a new Fiata 124 Spider just a play car for hooning. The cost would barely register to them. Actually that is part of my dream garage.
