I like to watch these classical games many times over. Thank you again for helping us to better understand them.

Its obvious that the public loves these game reviews judging by the number of views. :) Thank you very much for them Michael. I hope we will see many more of them in the future. Personally I love to hear your commentary on classical games, your own games and on contemporary games at the top level.

Outstanding commentary on a game I have played through at least a couple of times in the past.
That early ladder is ideal for one of those "is it a ladder" problems! :))

Imagine you're just playing war on the Goban, minding your own business, and then some lunatic decides to play war in real life and drops a bomb on you.

    Great analysis as always!
Go Seigen truly is like "the Michael Jordan of Go" . Everytime I see someone analyse his games he plays some loose looking moves to build influence at a pace that no one could keep up with.
Also considering the actual speed at which he played his moves in comparison to his contemporaries..
Machine learning AI's basically came to copy his style to shake up modern Go theory (and keep in mind that AlphaGo had to play millions of games to achieve that level of play).

Go Seigen had tremendous intuition.his calculations were top but it was his intuition that got him to the top . This is why he was playing AI like opening.Imagine if he also had Dosaku analytical power

Fantastic, waiting eagerly for the rest of the jubango. Also would be great if you could do the commentaries of more legendary rivalries, of all ages and countries, but that would take a while hehe

I’ve yet to watch this - definitely will - but thought I’d add a comment for Michael about Go AIs.. "why do Go AIs start a key move in one place and then switch to another part of the board?" I’ve been watching David Silver's lectures on Reinforcement Learning and also been trying out KataGo on my iPad. Many moves have similar probabilities of winning. The mechanics of RL are to focus on places that have the highest values, but also to try out some random ideas. What I believe is happening is the algorithm stumbles across a new move (further in the tree) with a slightly higher chance of winning in another part of the board and of course switches to that. A couple of moves later it stumbles across a new move in the original area and switches back. It makes no sense to human players but perfect sense when you consider RL algorithms. Hope this helps.

Michael, in the film The Master I think they recreated that event of Kitani Minoru getting ill while playing this game. There is a small clip of the film here on CZcams

I would love to see a cosmic style AI. Maybe training by itself after takemia training with a different counting method would work, for example all intersections on the side: (1. X) (Y, 1) would be counted as 1/2 a point and force it to be sufficiently territory greedy to compensate for bad counting.

If you use Katago with ancient chinese rules (stone scoring, group-tax), it won't invade the 3-3 points and might be playing more of that kind of outside style you're after.

Hi Michael, thanx 4 ALL your work! Because you always ask about the sound: it is quiet when you dont speak (which is good) and the pegel seems ok (not an easy thing to get that). Hoever, *always* when you speak there is some additional sound ( a plugin? your sound card? your mic) I am not sure , however as an (technically in) Audio interested guy I trust my ears ...
