- Here are some top tips for getting the best performance out of your mountain bike when riding somewhere steep, dusty and rocky. In many places, like the UK, wet and loamy trails are your only choice and the only way to ride dry and rocky trails is by going on holiday. If you have your MTB dialled in on your local conditions it's not going to feel as great when you take it somewhere new. Blake Samson and Anna Cipullo share some of the changes they make to their rigs to get peak performance on foreign trails.

Sooo, I need to replace my tyres, wheels, cranks, chainring, rotors, pads, mech, shock, etc, every time I switch between alpine & desert?
How about this: tyre pressure, maybe sag & rebound a bit -> send it!
5:46 don't we all know it the famous J-Pull spoke not to be confused with the straight bend... 😉😜
I’m so jealous that y’all are on holiday!!!
Thanks so much, really interesting as I ride a lot of rocky tracks and some really long ones. My fav!!!!
Glad we could help! 🫡 Where in the world are you riding? 🤙
I live in Melbourne Vic Australia so there are a few places, one is a place called You Yang's and another is called La Larr Ba Gauwa near Bendigo. Both very rocky. And then there is Maydena and Derby in Tasmania. 😊
Golves, gloves gloves on rocky trails!
,a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…….
Thanks for watching! 👀
@@gmbntech Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
I am here in Sierra Nevada, Spain. The terrain eats tyres. Would not run a soft maxxis here.
I like the look of the Vittoria sideknobs. Do thet wear out slower than a maxxis?
Definitely a blocky threadpattern like the dhf or mazza is the way to get grip here.
Hii yall, in this freezing weather we're getting in the UK I'm having issues with my dropper post locking, is it just because the cold ?
It could be because of the cold, rubber seals harden in the cold and might be grabbing the stanchion! But it could be something else, what dropper post do you have?
#AskGMBNTech Can you swap from resin to cintered pads on the same disc? I thought you cannot without changing the disc?
Ideally you might not so set of pads match the rotors
Last I checked, it's stil January, a bit early to talk about summer
Summer in many places one might travel to!
Come To aus, it's a balmy 30 odd degrees everyday and all the trails are bone dry, and rocky as hell. 😂 These set up tips are actually great for us all year round 🤣
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail 😉
@@gmbntech plan to fail, fail to plan?
Half of the world is in middle of summer season, so maybe the world isn't only north america and Europe...
Get damn good insurance, with a good emergency assistance partner, that covers mtb fully, for ur mtb holiday...
My first ride in a hot dry SA led to a v badly broken clavicle, punctured lung & cracked ribs.
I'm covered, but the assistance company the insurer uses are awful (erv assistance).
And carry ur insurance details on u where they can be found.
ouch, you recovered now?
Oh yeah, a DH grip makes ALL the difference compared to an Enduro grip! 😀😁😂
Dry trails will get the finest dust imaginable in your bearings, your stanchions, your *everything* on the bike. 😝 Make sure you clean it out studiously.
Never tried carbon wheels, I usually buy the best aluminum with good hubs. People keep whining about 10k bikes. Stop buying the most expensive components and manufacturers will stop making them that expensive. It's not the manufacturers fault.
