Pioneer was already a combo format they've banned so many
I can't remember a time when Pioneer wasn't a combo format.
Definitely worse now than before. I've lost a lot of interest in the format because of how much janky combo is floating around.

What is lci?
IMPORTANT:
Crumbling vestige with spelunking as you fifth land gives you enough mana to play scapeshift, float 2 normal mana for spellpierce, fetch World Tree + 4 Sunken Citadel/Echoing deeps and win if there is no spellpierce. if there is a spellpierce, the next Crumbling vestige will add 2 colored mana thanks to World tree.
is Golos even that good? especially compared to bring to light.
Moritte of the Frost is another god to find
diabolic intent might be a good wishboard addition

This combo deck is so cool! It reminds me of the old Dragonstorm deck back in Time Spiral standard.
This is one of the weirdest and most creative combo decks you’ve played in a while. Cant believe it was winning like it was. 10/10.
After reviewing the log of videos my favorite bit is the gradual degradation of “going into game 2 were swapping this for this and with that it’s on to game 2” to “fnnnaogjd kskbdem grm 2”. Love you daddy.

No fetches makes it feel far more accessible, and so many cards having interesting alternate artworks makes it slightly more appealing.
Theres going to be a new format from dominaria United onward rumor has it. So yes very much modern successor. Pioneer plays a lot like modern was in 2016 too
It definitely feels like the worst of the 3 (or 4?) combo decks to have been crapped out by LCI.

This combo is so sick, seems like itll even work im Modern thanks to Amulet of Vigor
It is quite interesting! Amulet in modern is pretty hard to top given how fast and consistent it is. With Rakdos Scam needed by the Furry ban, Amulet has been really strong lately!
Normal scapeshift is much better because your lands and valukut already do damage by themselves. No reason to have cumbersome gods

Wow, who'd thought that LCI would be a combo-tastic set?
This seems like it could end up being a Historic deck, since Titan is legal there, you've got access to an additional 1-mana Grazer-style creature in Kami of the Bamboo Groves, and it seems like the sort of thing that Crucias might end up doing a good job of smoothing out (he can't tutor for scapeshift, but he ramps and can always pitch a god in hand for a Golos/Titan or go down off a Grazer/Kami to find a land).
Or even just grazer itself?

You're missing the damage purphoros on arena. I suppose you could have impact tremors instead. Or play more gods and add the sneak attack purphoros for the haste.
@@simonchi5372 Ah, didn't realize that. We'll probably get him in an explorer anthology eventually even if this deck doesn't take off though, since he's popular in commander and therefore a way to separate brawl players from some wild cards. I think this probably needs a package of gods that kills on the spot off a World Tree activation to be worth it.
@@wudgethenumbers I really hope they put him in an anothology or something along with the other theros gods! Check out mono black magic tho i saw today he did a combo video around the same idea but with locust god and the god that triples token and bontu instead.

Swap out the Wish for Fire Prophecy and you can put Gods stranded in your hand back into your library AND get some much needed early removal.
You did well against the Fires deck and the Izzet deck, but then got out-comboed by the combo decks. You might need to make a format-breaker soon.
Scapeshift found a way to backdoor Valakut by using The World Tree instead.

Bontu would be great at drawing cards to make a bunch insects! Adding those two cards would certainly help for when our gods are stuck in hand! We could even replace 1 Ojer and 1 Purphorous. Good thinking!

Guttural response is from shadowmoor, so it ain't legal in Pioneer, sadly. Otherwise, it would work great in the deck!

So when is the next 69k special?
If instead of red you add black and add Urborg to the manabase to fix, Beseech the Mirror can find both Spelunking and Scapeshift which would help a lot for consistency. Issue is creating the Bargain material, so maybe a red splash for Fable is necessary, which also helps you unclog your hand of the gods and find your combo pieces.
The only thing I can think in pioneer is Gingerbread Cabin since it would enter untapped with Spelunking it would make the food token. Though losing red means losing Wish, which almost fills the same role.
As someone who plays MSF it pains me how dishonest their ads are in terms of synergy lmao.

I think the idea of this deck is good but the execution feels off. Wish feels to expensive and solemn feels really slow, golos as well. I’d for sure slam fable and crumbling vestige in here, maybe even gruul terf.

Gee whiz Wizards, you let Pioneer turn into a combo slop orgy fest....Surely you'll find it in your hearts (the employees that weren't fired) and correctly ban all of the annoying combo cards that are forcing this "play combo or lose" atmosphere.
i'm very sure this is a reupload. This "combo wombo" has been a thing since the "THE WORLD TREE" land has been made available. It's just that now with Caverns of Ixalon we have "more" god creatures. However, i'd argue until there's another god creature that gives haste to all other creatures you control or actually lets you do some other combo through ETB or "dies" your entire deck can be "shut down" if that one "god" creature "disappears" before hitting play or before you get to "Declare attackers."
