We need more of this. Us two stroke fanatics have been subscribed to this channel for years in hopes of seeing this project come along. Absolutely wonderful!! I'm 37 years old and when I was about 20 I always said that I wanted to use an Evinrude 2T powerhead and set it in a small car and then years later I found your motor videos. Good job my friend I look forward to seeing more.

Over 550 lbs of torque with out a turbo, just make it a DFI with exhaust trapping valve and slight boost and it would put out over 800 ft-lbs of torque. This thing make more power and torque than poppet valved big block conversions and my 8v92 2 stroke detroit diesel. this Evinrude small block was the best american small block ever made, nothing else compares and wont hold up
This guy has one of the sweetest rides I know of and yet he will hardly ever privilege us with videos of it.

Wow! I had a dream last night of building a 1/2 scale 1979 Malibu wagon and using an outboard v8 for the motor, trying to keep it scale. It was done in a pro touring style with a 5 or 6 speed transmission. This car is awesome, I am glad you followed through with it.
Do it, except use a T-6070 from a C7, maybe the IFS too...they sell cheap because they aren't able to be readily used bolted to the back of an engine. Your welcome. 7 speeds would be useful keeping that 2 stroke up to steam.

I know the sound of an Evinrude XP300 when I hear it. I had one of these beasts. Amazing torque.
4.0 litre 8 cylinder 300 hp stock
easy to get 375 hp and 400 ft pounds out of it.

expansions on 2 stroke are the best way to increase power, normally on outboards there is no place to put it so they are really underpowered. A fine tuned 2 stroke can make 200 cv/litre, the last 2stroke racing motorbikes 500cc was on 180/200 cv.
I think this monster of 4 liters with expansion could easily reach 500/600 cv and much more

It's an outboard boat engine, I think Evenrude and Johnson made some V8 2 strokes, under the company OMC

As far as I can work it out they did put a fiberglass front end, windows,head and taillights and a drag racing"spoiler" on it. The engine is an Evinrude unit with originally 3.6 liters they enlarged it to 4.0 and raised the power output to over 400hp.the car has an automatic transmission and it weights just under 690kg Could be wrong tho their Facebook page is entirely in swedish and neither I with my poor knowledge of swedish nor the translator are always correct.

That's a very good effort for a V8 engine,building one that's 2 stroke.
I picked up an old Victa 2 stroke lawn mower last night & I was wondering if there's any way to get them to match the exhaust emissions of a 4 stroke engine (i.e. no smoke).
I have seen an Evinrude 2 stroke outboard motor on here in a boat getting run with a fuel to oil mixture of 100:1 which means that it doesn't blow any smoke.
That's a 1979 model engine & they typically run a 50:1 fuel to oil mixture.
The mower is an old powertorque engine & it sounds like it needs new crankshaft bearings as they sound rough & pitted.
While it's apart, it makes sense to fit new piston rings because I can get the parts & fix that one up for $40 AUD if it's just the motor & not the carb,etc that needs a service.
The base needs repairing,nothing that a patch of sheet metal,clean up,prime & a coat of paint won't fix.
Low emission 2 stroke is called an optimax or an E-TEC

I've been a huge fan the minute I saw this thing run. But I wish it was a little more of a walk around to check out the body it was put in. I would make some type of collector for the exhaust if possible but that would mess up the tuning. Great piece though.

I would imagine that even a 4 litre 2-stroke is relatively light. The original Volvo engine weighed about 340 lbs.and gave 100 bhp stock. If the V8 is @ 400 lbs. and puts out 250 bhp it should be a very quick car.
The stock engine before any tuning was 275-300hp (evinrude 300) I'd presume with the custom expansion chambers and fuel injection this engine puts out at least 400hp
