      Def do not run a heater, they like cooler temp with max I would say 72, 75 would be pushing it and above that is dangerous (ask me how I know lol). Also I have no issues with these guys jumping. BUT, I would think any fish will jump...I’ve had rummy nose, SAE, ottos jump on me before.

    3:16, I believe properly outcrossed fish live the longest. The same can be said for fish that survive overwintering and the heat of summer. The long fin varieties ware out quicker and are more inbred.

  • @ejbrinegar
    @ejbrinegar Před 2 lety +2

    Dear Sir:
    I’ve kept white clouds for a few years, now (though I previously had them for a while, years ago). This time I’ve given special attention to breeding them. Don of NYGOLD had great success starting the fry on pulverized, flake food, so I tried that. I had very limited success. But, once I began culturing vinegar eels (Turbatrix aceti), getting fry large enough to consume live brine shrimp nauplii is easy (if I can catch them before the adults). Though this species will often ignore the fry, I feed mine live brine shrimp often, so the adults have become accustomed to live food.
    Thank you for producing this, informative, interesting video. I really appreciate you sharing the history of this, terrific fish.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,

    I love my little minnow but absolutely cannot stand people who sell them saying they are going to be happy in a small 5 gallon tank.
    the place I got mine from asked size of my tank I told them its 15 but filter can handle a bigger bioload they said that was perfect for the amount I had ordered which was 12. 3 months on they couldn't be happier and recently got joined by 6 shrimp

    • @someguy3167
      @someguy3167 Před rokem

      Why? A small group of 6 would be fine, they don't get much bigger than an inch and they aren't aggressive. This idea of each fish needs it's own person gallon per inch is just bs. You can't keep a 10 inch pleco in a 10 gallon, but you sure can keep more than 10 nano fish in a 10 gallon.
      I think anything smaller than a 5 gallon shouldn't have any fish as even nano fish should have a minimum swimming space, but that doesn't mean each fish needs it's own personal 2 gallons of space. That really only applies to large territorial fish.
      Before you call me defense, I have 6 in a 15 gallon indoor pond. I don't keep any fish in my 5 gallon, but I don't think it's wrong to keep a small group of small fish in one. Just like any tank as long as it's full of plants hiding spots and a minimum swinging length it's fine.
