- Coffee grown on the slopes of Hualalai is known commercially as "Kona coffee." Kona coffee is some of the priciest and most delicious coffees available.
Kona coffee is grown and produced primarily on the big island of Hawaii. Coffee can grow well in areas with weather like bright mornings, clouds or rain in the afternoon, minimal wind, and temperate evenings paired with volcanic soil that is permeable and rich in minerals. The Kona belt provides all of this, which is why Kona coffee thrives there!
One of the best gourmet coffees in the world, Kona has flavors of chocolate, fruit, hazelnut, and caramel. It also has a distinctive flavor that is completely different from any other coffee in the world, with a rich, nutty, and slightly earthy aftertaste.

Believe me, it is! There was a period of time in the 90s when it was not hard to find. I regularly drank it at a coffee shop in London, Ontario called Beantown. It's harder to find these days and I'm quite sure there are few coffee shops that offer it today although I could be wrong. I did manage to find bags of it here and there, periodically over the years. I don't drink coffee any longer, but I can tell you that Kona is THE best coffee EVER!!!!!!
My local coffee bean supplier, Kaladi Bros, has kona beans. I was wondering why they were 3 times the price of the Trieste beans I usually buy. I’m going to try them out later this week.
Because they are special :) as you see in this video. Thank you for watching.
