Best of luck with the competition, Morgan. It's been super-informative seeing this whole process and I hope it all goes well!
Thank you!
@@morgandrinkscoffee Thanks for the content. Suggestion/tip: A few moments of breathing room/negative space/silence are totally fine. The dialog doesn't have to be a sprint/marathon. The editing doesn't allow for any few seconds of down time.
No questions. I'm a recreational coffee drinker and love to learn more about the craft. Thank you and love your energy
if you are new and want to dive deeper into specialty coffe watch videos from James Hoffmann
I used to work for an Egyptian woman and she’d make me a cup of Arabic coffee with a spoonful of sugar but also a spoonful of ginger. I was really hesitant about the idea of ginger in coffee but it was delicious
Actually i am amazed by your USBC series hence i also wonder are there are more competitions like these... Like for teas... wines... Milkshakes... Slushies.... etc......... Even like for ingredients like milk, butter, sugar, rice,....etc....
Google the item ex: tea barista competition and you obtain your answer. As for tea, they do exist.
On the world level, there are more event for coffee like tasters cup and brewers cup
There's a fair bit for coffee tho. There's the USBC but the people who run that also do brewed coffee, latte art, etc. Also, look up Aeropress Championship
more cat pls
will do
I was so surprised and excited to see you working with Onyx!! I used to live in NW Arkansas and Onyx was my go to local coffee shop. Their coffee is so flipping good, and it’s so neat to see them getting more and more national recognition.
Just looks up the eugenioides coffee.... wow. A luxury coffee. I would love to get a coffee by Morgan. You seem like such a passionate barista and I am here for it. I have learned so much about coffee since I started watching you. Thank you!
Posh coffee stuff is so expensive so I channel my coffee pørn through these videos. Great videos as always 😻
I love love love this series, I’m learning a lot and having the competition as a framework really helps contextualizing all the new info. Good luck!

You have some wicked courage to make a presentation to some (probably) stone-faced judges. Total admiration here, and best of luck!
Best of luck, Morgan! Thanks for educating me on coffees and their appropriate preparations. Go Girl!
Good luck during the competition! I've learned new things and am now looking up a lot about Eugenioides coffee 😊
It's a nice touch to lead us through your preparation for the competition. Best of luck! I wish I could taste this
Good luck, Morgan! You’re going to do GREAT and wow the judges with your compelling story!
I need that spring plunger tamp, it looks SO COOL. Also really interesting talk!
i had lavender cream coffee for the first time today, and i am OBSESSED
This is the most interesting video you've done in my opinion. Love Onyx, keep these coming!
finally, more specialty coffee content please. i love watching in depth
I love these types of videos! All about the beans themselves, and a great way to discover new types of coffee!

APPLYING FOR MY 1ST JOB WHICH IS A BARISTA JOB
Have you tried adding powdered milk to milk rather than freeze distilling?
This should theoretically be as good as freeze distilling, as the process of powdering has very minimal impact on the flavor.
I honestly think this should be considered as freezing, thawing, and throwing away half of the diluted milk (I mean what else are you going to do with bad tasting milk?), is incredibly wasteful.
In my testing, 45g of milk powder dissolved well in 1L of cold milk with heavy shaking.
@@Hames8 ooh imma use this
@@Luckycatzassosiation Be sure to purchase powdered whole milk.
There are plenty of products that doesn't use whole milk (non-fat, other non-dairy products mixed in, etc). Those, I imagine, will taste horribly.
In video ad … automatic thumbs down and never sub. I pay for premium to avoid ads CZcamsrs will learn one day
Nothing like a Morgan video to skip class with ❤️
What a blast. Fantastic ideas for coffees. You should do well. Good luck on everything!
this is ridiculously fascinating. thanks so much for sharing this
I love your energy sm 🧍🏾♀️
I love that you partnered with Onyx. Their coffee is so good.
Good luck to you! I will be rooting for you.
This whole process of documenting your preparation is fascinating! I wonder if any other contestants have done this before, and whether it affected how they did in competition.
What a coincidence! I just sat down with my cup of coffee and I see you uploaded four minutes ago.
Congrats on the win!
Well I learned something today. Never heard of that type of coffee specie. Good luck at the USBC. It must be nice having Lance on your team.
He’s a boss 💪
@@morgandrinkscoffee very well done. First America, now the world!
Very cool, I so want to taste that first coffee it sounds amazing... Good luck on the competition👍☕
This was so interesting. I've never heard of this coffee bean. Good luck in the competition. Also going to get a pair of Vessi shoes. They'll be great for travel and camping!
This is a fantastic video Morgan. I've learned a lot and now you have me intrigued. Thanks! Can you also increase temperature to get more extraction out of the eugenioides or does that make things go bad? All the best for the USBC!
Excited to one day try some Eugenoides
Oh man I’d really like to try Eugenoides!! Good luck with the competition. Awesome
How fascinating to hear you're using a 'resurrected' species of coffee! I look forward to trying it some day. Good luck with the competition!
This video ! I’m 2 hours away from Onyx . It’s been 2 years … 2 years to long ! Time to jump in the Jeep for a crazy long coffee run lol! Good luck at the competition!
I think one of the first coffees I got on my Trade subscription was a eugenioides variety (Gimme! Angel BBs). I was surprised by the tiny beans, I the espresso I got out of it was very sweet. I think it's my favorite coffee so far from my subscription. Best of luck at competition, Morgan!
Good luck Morgan! You have the chops to win!
This bean sounds amazing. At an amazing price and very limited quantities. Maybe I’ll get a bag for my birthday! Certainly for special occasions only.
That hoodie though!!! Love it!
the slide will never get old
Awesome to see you are using eugenoides. As always Colombian coffee representing the best coffee in the world.
Good luck!! Hope everything goes as planned 😎
I waited to watch this video like buying a special expensive truffle and waiting to eat it 🤣 thank you for this!!!! I was really wanting this exact video from you!!! I bought a Mexican coffee you recommended once and it quickly became my favorite!!!!! I can’t wait to try these. I love onyx , never tried the one here but I’m about to!!! Ugh love you
I'm digging that Powell Peralta Mike McGill art behind you at Black Rabbit. That was the art on the first skateboard deck I ever owned. It was the 1980's.
Good luck! Really excited for htis.
Love onyx coffee! Got their Columbia Jose Salazar COE #6, it was amazing!
I‘ve learned so much today 🤯 thx! ☺️
I hope you win! I know it's not just about winning, but this is an opportunity to display all your awesome skills and techniques to the world, and I think you definitely will make some impact there. Good luck!
Really informative, as I only knew of Arabica and Columbia beans. If this third type of coffee is as you described, I surely would love to try it! The closest I come to doing anything espresso, is through my moka pot, which I just got a few months ago. I’m buying most of my beans through a beanery coffee shop, where they create wonderful coffee blends, and have expanded their operations. Until recently, was content to buy the popular commercial brands of coffee. But after trying a couple of different brands and blends, I have found that the commercial heavyweights are too bitter, sometimes rancid, and just unpleasant. Now I strive to grind my own beans (which I just did before watching your video) and select better coffees. Since finding your channel, I keep coming back to see what else I may have been missing! I’m rooting for you in the competition!
Go well and enjoy the competition Morgan
That was a really cool passionnate and interresting video !
Very cool and informative video. Fascinating. Thanks.
So glad you're sharing all this information with us. Really interesting learning about the eugenoides. Hopefully one day an opportunity will arise to taste some. It sounds so interesting!
Really work your work. Keep it up 👍. Love from India.
Do you feel that Eugenoides is going to be so on trend that you'll see a lot of your competitors using it? Or do you expect to stand out? When you were planning your routine was it more about what matters to you, or do you also take into account what you might be up against?
These are great questions I was tempted to try to answer. Bump, bump.
Isn’t it great that Morgan won the US Barista Championship today in Boston? The program was awesome all 3 days. Morgan is on the way to compete in the World Championship later this year! Onyx coffee, Andrea and Lance were a great team helping Morgan.
@@kathleenu4461 Woah, I just got back to Boston today from being in London for a week so I missed all of this! So exciting.
This is quite an expensive variety, with a really high quality score. hoping I could taste it someday.
This sounds like a coffee brag I’d enjoy!
I went to Onyx in Bentonville last September and it was pretty bomb! I love the space that they have. If ever you're in Milwaukee, we have some pretty great roasteries for you to check out.
Whoo a new video!!! Also you got this!!!
I someway somehow Need to try this Drink. It sounds Exactly like what I am looking for
Crossing fingers that you will win dear Morgan. The best of luck 🤞😎
9:31 haven't seen a spring-loaded tamp like that one before... cool!
It’s been so fun learning from everything you’ve done in the past few years! I hope you do incredibly well at USBC and have the BEST time! What espresso machine/etc would you recommend? I don’t have a lot of hands on experience but I have been learning so much and plan on doing a lot more with coffee in the future. I think it would be so cool to use coffee as a way to bring people together and just bless others in general! My husband and I have been planning on this for awhile and should be able to afford most of the stuff we need, soon! I would LOVE any advice if you have any!! ❤️
Everyone and their mom seems to start with a gaggia classic or ranchilio silvia. I'm currently on the hunt for a used one to clean up and refurbish
Winning combination for milk course: Eugenoides and Unicorn Milk.
Liked this so fast upon seeing the cat!
I know pretty much nothing about coffee, don't even drink coffee, but I love every second of your videos
Thanks for the awesome content!!
I really like this video! Best of luck at the competition. If there is a way to watch the USBC live, please let me know! I want to watch it super bad! 😃
I saw one of your videos a year or so ago and today I am so stunned by your advance in coffee... how on earth did you accumulate so much coffee knowledge? Any tips for how to learn more about coffee?
Awwww your cat looks just like my old family cat Tigger. I miss her. So cute!
The thing I loved the most about your tik toks is the way you push the drink and you did it to the camera man and I laughed
I wonder if a blend of Eugenioides beans with either Arabica or Robusta would be something good to try. Maybe there is a way to get both the bolder flavors from typical espresso along with the sweet fruitiness from the Eugenioides. I think this would be something fun to experiment with.
Good luck from a fellow Portland resident ☔️☘️
I am here for your future Coffee History Nerd that will come around eventually. Show me all the ways coffee is
I want some of this coffee now!!!
We are pulling for you in Maryland!
Those beans look similar to Puerto Rico’s coffee plantations. I love the low acidity in the coffee it tastes sweet even without milk or oat milk.
This was a very fun video, thanks for making it!
Beyond competition coffees, what are your favorites when it comes to day to day coffee drinking?
Do you have recommendations for roasters/suppliers that you think folks should know about and be trying?
Are there national/international brands (the kind you can find in grocery stores), local/regional brands (single store/few locations. preferably that sell online too so we can get it), and online only operations that you have tried that you think we might enjoy exploring?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Keep up the kickass work!!
The McGill graphic on the wall is the bomb
Good Luck and Best Wishes from Canada
Good luck at the competition!!
Also,
Please do one on tea and on cocoa at some point!!
By a tea lover (and a coffee sensitive thus hater-it destroying my gut each time)
greatest content of all time
I hope one day you’ll make a video tasting different chain coffee shop espressos and picking out their tasting notes. As a Starbucks barista, I think it would be really interesting
Yes! Start with my favorite..Coava
The Eugenioides coffee sounds like it would be amazing to use to make a coffee beer.
I thought the exact same thing!
@@TomRAFC I checked out their website to see about getting some and it was already sold out. I hope more comes available again the future cause it sounded awesome!
that cortado looks delicious, coffee species aside yummy, if its my preffered milk drink
Ooooo... those glasses❤
As soon as you mentioned Eugeniodes... That's some interesting thing you're doing there. Can't wait for the performance and best of Luck at the competition
I'm considering flying across the ocean to try this milk beverage of yours
Looks super delicious 😋
I'm just a home barista but I'm surprised you store the coffee in a simple bag for a couple of weeks. Do you find the vacuum storage over-rated?
i want to try this SO bad now
I wonder if starting with a milk course is a disadvantage because dairy can mute your taste buds for the other rounds. Awesome video!
i want to drink the milk beverage you made SO bad. the Eugenoides sounds perfect for me
Lol as someone allergic to coffee/caffeine, I enjoy this channel way too much💀
Good luck Morgan after the competition could you do a mocha pot demo or a comparison on different coffees in the mocha pot….
Don't have anything to contribute really, being a beginner with this sort of thing, so I'll just wish you the very best of luck for the competition!
That coffee sounds yummy. If I were to get my hands on Eugenioides coffee, could I use it in pour over? I don’t have a home espresso machine (yet…?)
Absolutely! It’s delicious as brewed coffee as well as espresso
So many good coffees, so little time to drink them all 😆
