- After a five or six year absence, Strasburg Rail Road's Plymouth #1 locomotive is back on the main line! To celebrate the 60th anniversary of tourist operations on the railroad, the railroad fixed up their 1926 original gasoline-powered locomotive and ran it for a photo charter on Friday, October 16, 2020 - just like it would have been doing on tourist trains 60 years ago. Enjoy the "Return of the Plymouth"!!
Watching The Plymouth pull those coaches gives me a calm relaxing feeling.
Absolutely - even though it's straining pretty hard and going slow, it definitely would be a nice, relaxing ride.
Great video... that light at 8:25 is just absolutely incredible, easily the best shot of the day!
Thanks!! I know, we wished we had that kind of light/sun all day!!!
Yay Strasburg finally ran their Plymouth since a Looong time
It's hard to believe that preservation already something worth preserving.

I know it does - but that's actually the day's rain moving away, it was the only sunny shot we got all day :D
😮wow that little engine was strasburgs first
Their first one when they started running tourist trains. The railroad was around long before this and had various steam locomotives in the late 1800s/early 1900s.
😮
i think they have a V8 plymouth now.
Either then yard switching, does there 10-ton switcher ever pull excursions?
no, its not allowed on the mainline
@@MIkey2008g6 damit
Not that it's not allowed on the mainline - but they don't have a need for it unless it's an emergency.
@@Bigjimvideo ok, good to know!
its prolly not up to pulling heavyweights up grades.
Salty look just like him 0:01
i'm thinking rusty
@@tommurphy4307 rusty right
Looks like a space ship
it kinda looks like a speeder with a hood on the front end.
The Plymouth hasn’t carried passengers since 2013?
Generally speaking, it hasn't run much since 2013.
@@Bigjimvideo ohhh ok
I grew up riding on a 1928 11 ton narrow gauge Plymouth (in addition to our steamer). It looks nothing like it's original configuration but it's a very useful and cool locomotive to have around. They pack a punch for a little locomotive!
