    Thanks for sharing! Great work! Awesome ideal! I work clear into the night and only time I can use light to find my tools is when the truck is on. This really can come in handy thank you!

    Get a small solar panel for trickle charging the battery, you could even ditch the trailer breakaway switch battery and wire it into the new battery. That way the truck can charge the battery.

    Great job, I agree with the other comment recommend solar panel. just remember Solar panels always produce power when exposed to light.

    If you hook the battery to the factory light power wire it will charge when you connect your truck or drive the trailer.

      This is what I’m wanting to do, but can’t seem to figure out the right way about it. I have the same wall light he had, and want to run LED strips along each side of the roof with a switch, but like you said, I’m trying to figure out what wires I’d use and how to connect it to the battery to charge it while it’s connected to the truck

    I'm looking to add these same lights to my enclosed trailer, except I have a 28ft trailer and would like to run 2 sets if not 3 in it. My question is instead of the twist connect fittings it comes with could i cut and put my own ends on ?

      im not sure to be honest I don't know what the wires look like on the inside you may want to get individual lights with a positive and ground on each one with exposed ends the wire everything together on your own.

    I'm not going to lie when you first spoke of the battery I thought that was a dumb idea. But you crushed that very quickly lol. I know in my trailer we have the same size by the way that I have two interior lights that run off of the tow vehicle. It did not dawn on me that was out the vehicle there's no lights. We only use the trailer for the most part to go to far away motorcycle events. And normally we load up during the day. Once we get on the road whenever we stop the first thing I do is to check on all the bikes. And I have two of those overhead lights like you have on the side. And they really do not light up a lot. It's just enough so I can check the bikes make adjustments when needed.
    Since the virus really have not gone anywhere for the past year and so far this year isn't looking promising. So I decided to take the time to add some features to the trailer. The very first project that I'm going to tackle is hooking a camera up inside the trailer. When we are hauling our bikes and we hit potholes or have to quick stop we always worry about our bikes. And just the incident was bad enough we will pull over on the beltway to check the bikes which is not very safe.
    Now after watching your video I'm going to take the time to run LED lights throughout the trailer.
    Thank you for sharing your video I love watching people with different ideas on how to do things and to bring up things that you don't even think about.

    Hello! Thanks for the video. I have my led lights wired up but I'm about to let my electrician go. I like how you have the lights hooked to a battery. Could you explain how to hook it up along with the switch?

    • @TheFrost7092
      @TheFrost7092  Před 2 lety +1

      the switch is hooked up inline with the hot side that goes to the battery. so the very end of the wire hooks to the battery, then goes a couple feet and goes through the switch which can cut the power depending on if its in the off or on position. Then coming out of the far side of the switch the power runs to each light, which are also linked together with connectors.

  • @willakins221
    @willakins221 Před rokem

    How do you go about doing the wiring for the lights?

    • @TheFrost7092
      @TheFrost7092  Před rokem

      The power wire(red) just goes to the positive side of the battery and the ground side (black) goes to the negative side of the battery.

  • @enhancehomeimprovementstoo1802

    • @TheFrost7092
      @TheFrost7092  Před 3 lety

      It depends on the battery but I would say they should be able to be on for a couple hours without killing the battery they are led so they don’t draw much power

    Why not put opaque panels in the roof to allow natural light inside during the day. Easy-peasy.

    • @TheFrost7092

  • @perillopropertymaintenance8600

    • @TheFrost7092
      @TheFrost7092  Před 3 lety

      It’s a larger marine battery don’t remember the exact specs. And solar chargers would work. Just would take a lot longer. But if you don’t use the lights all the time I imagine it would work well.

    Which wires did you connect to to be able to turn the lights on when it's not connected to the truck? I want to do exactly what you did I just don't know what wire. I don't want to connect to the wire that also turns on the outside trailer lights. I only want this inside ones. Thanks

    • @brandonroach2370
      @brandonroach2370 Před 3 lety

      Yeah I want to run it off a stand alone battery. Is there any of the trailer wire you hooked it up to or completely separate?

    • @brandonroach2370
      @brandonroach2370 Před 3 lety

      I do see what you are talking about. I'll just have to run a separate wire to the leds. I have them wired off the wire coming from the trailer wiring. The brown wire is for the outside lights and that's what om hooked into. I'll just switch to just one coming from the battery. Thanks!
