Welcome to the official CZcams channel of The Monkees, home of 60s chart-topping hits “Last Train To Clarksville,” “I’m A Believer” and “Daydream Believer,” as well as multi-platinum, #1 albums ‘The Monkees,’ ‘More of the Monkees,’ ‘Headquarters’ and ‘Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.’
Monkee-mania began in Los Angeles in 1965 when Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, the late Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones were cast in the eponymous television series about a struggling rock band inspired by The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night. The quartet brought a singular mix of pop, rock, psychedelia, Broadway and country to their resulting music. By the time the series aired its final episode on March 25, 1968, The Monkees had sold 16 million albums and 7.5 million singles. Few could have predicted the impact The Monkees would have on music and pop culture at large, one that still reverberates more than 50 years later.

Heart and Soul did not get the respect and credit it deserved. In 1986, The Monkees had the highest grossing tour of any band touring that year. Avenues that had been booked were sold out and many avenues were changed to larger capacity venues, including stadium arenas. They also had to book additional dates. The Pool It album is amazing. I couldn’t even tell how many times I have listened to it. A couple of hours ago, I was enjoying Davy singing , “Every Step of the Way “ . So quintessentially eighties to perfection! RIP Manchester Cowboy

They're doing great getting a big push from MTV and truly making a comeback. I even got to go see them touring line. But then came a problem they were already booked for New Year's Eve and MTV wanted them. When they refuse the MTV gig they were immediately blacklisted. It was such a shame they were so talented. They did cut some music on their own you can find it one is called just us

The album and the single bombed, and that's a shame because there's some great music there. I saw them twice in the 80s and I remember them ending one of the shows with this song. That was the first time I had ever heard it. I thought for sure it would have been a hit.

21 years after Freddie Mercury died in November of 1991. I'd rather like Queen better because they're more all British Rock Royalty! Imagine I would plan a Queen spoof with Roger Taylor, Brian May, along with John Deacon coming out from retirement to reunite and finally Freddie rises from his cremated ashes remains recombined and back to life. I would do a Queen version and it would have been better!

The Monkees did a great job of remaking themselves for the 80's, Kind of funny to see them walking around in 80's garb, but I'm glad they came back. Would have been great if Mike could be there too, but it's still fun to see the other three.

+Michael Maloney We can thank MTV executives for this stalling on the charts. They refused to air the video because the Monkees didn't appear at a MTV Super Bowl show in January of '87. David Fishof (the Monkees manager at the time) had committed Micky, Davy and Peter to appear on the show without their knowledge. Davy had a family function he had to attend at the time, so they weren't there. MTV execs had a fit and banned all future Monkees videos.

No offense to the Monkees but they fucked up with both Pool It and Justus. They fundamentally misunderstood what people liked about their music, which is evident in the fact that they “updated” and “modernized” their music to fit in with the times. Nobody wanted to hear what the Monkees sounded like as a 80s or 90s band. That’s why Good Times was so great. It accepted and celebrated that they are a product of the 1960s. I’m glad they eventually got it together!

I've heard many times Mike Nesmith told them to get over it. Sometimes I think he thought he was above it all.
I admire the other three for carrying the Monkee torch.
    Excellent idea for this video,
I'll always love the monkees no matter what age.

Don't care WHO you are, how much older the Monkees got, what time period it is, how you're dressed or what's hip NOW, you just don't throw the Monkees out of somewhere. Literally and figuratively.
They were groovy! Peter was pretty funny doing somersaults in the air. They looked better being Sixties groovy. Awesome cameo by Mike!! But if he took the time to be in their video, why didn't he just rejoin them? I guess he's just independent like that. This really reminds me of an episode!

Micky's face was so funny when the boys glared at him for singing instead of washing up. This is just like them before except the time's changed;they're older; and Mike's not there. Actually, Mike and Davy were sometimes missing from episodes. Micky and Peter were the only ones in all of the episodes.

Mike missed the most episodes. Davy only missed one episode because he had to fly back to England to attend his sister's wedding. Mike's reasons were he had a tonsilectomy. He got seasick in another episode. And I think creative differences. And it's true that Micky and Peter were in every episode of The Monkees.

Love in a vacuum, love in a space,
Love without even the little hint of a trace,
Love in confusion then love doesn't show on your face.
Love is a stranger, love is a box,
Love is the key that fits a million locks,
Love is a mystery when love is the devil you call.
Put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can think they're mine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can see them shine.
Love at a distance, love at a walk,
Love at the limit if only people could talk,
Love for the moment it takes to its wings like a hawk.
Love for tomorrow, love for today,
Love for the hour it could be coming your way,
Love for a puzzle you need a solution to play.
Put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can think they're mine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can think they're mine.
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can think they're mine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can think they're mine,
I wish you'd put your heart and soul where I can see them shine,
