Welcome to the official CZcams channel of The Monkees, home of 60s chart-topping hits âLast Train To Clarksville,â âIâm A Believerâ and âDaydream Believer,â as well as multi-platinum, #1 albums âThe Monkees,â âMore of the Monkees,â âHeadquartersâ and âPisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.â
Monkee-mania began in Los Angeles in 1965 when Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, the late Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones were cast in the eponymous television series about a struggling rock band inspired by The Beatlesâ A Hard Dayâs Night. The quartet brought a singular mix of pop, rock, psychedelia, Broadway and country to their resulting music. By the time the series aired its final episode on March 25, 1968, The Monkees had sold 16 million albums and 7.5 million singles. Few could have predicted the impact The Monkees would have on music and pop culture at large, one that still reverberates more than 50 years later.

Put them in the Hall Of Fame! Now! While one of them is still alive!
Rest In Peace, Peter and Davy!! We love you both and will miss your humor, great voices and personalities! You made growing up a lot more fun! đđđ
I will unapologetically love these three and Papa Nez forever. Thank you for all of the memories and love. No other group has touched my life they way they have.
Peace, love and The Monkees
So glad the Monkees stayed true to who they were...I loved their comedy along with the music...Great song and brings back so many happy memories...RIP Davy...In my mind you will never die
This song was not staying true. It was God awful and is an embarrassment
I never liked that Michael wanted to distance himself from the "Monkees" for so long. It wasn't until Davy and Peter died that he reunited with Mickey. Now there is just Mickey and may he be here for a VERY long time. â€ïž
He reunited with them soon after this video was shot. He also participated in the Monkees revival in the 90s as well as the movie shot during that time period.
Yeah, Mike should have embraced that 'once a Monkee, always a Monkee ' sooner. I think he finally did realize it. I hope they all knew how much they meant to us. I love this video, and they were just as cute as they ever were!
There's an old saying, when it's all said and done you don't wish you had a few more hours of overtime! You wish you spend more time with your loved ones... These guys were Brothers
its unfortunate mike wasn't in this with them but GOD is this one of the funniest music videos ever. there are other songs in the album i prefer but this music video is AMAZING i love it
â€â€â€ Pool It and I will never apologize for it!
I never saw this video before. It's a riot!!!!
Rock music with such humor is SO RARE! Oh when Peter takes a bite of Davy's carrot microphone...and Micky pulls a carrot out of the saxophone, SO funny!
this is one cool video, i still miss davy everday, i wish that we could turn back time to when things were. easier, nicer, kinder, gentler. im so glad that i grew up with the guys, i love them all so much. forever and always i will be a monkees fan.
They look like they are having such fun making this! Great song too! Love the Monkees!
I think "Pool It!" is a really underrated record. It is one of my all time favorites.
The epilogues always crack me up in this video. :)
you all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Cain Connor instablaster :)
@Maximilian Kaysen i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Maximilian Kaysen It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
@Cain Connor Happy to help =)
Omg 80's Monkees r so cute
Great song. Davy, so dreamy.
I actually knew Davy. He & I actually duetted together once.
Encantadores, fantåsticos talentosos, grandes estrellas!!! Inolvidables i love†the monkees!!! Forever!!!
I love the Monkees! grew up to their albums and shows. saw them twice in concert! weird Al Yankovic opened for them. they are nostalgic
I used to rewind Davy singing "I asked around until I found your name" so many times! I just loved how he sang it!
+Melissa Poe I love the "I want you (YA YOU!)"
I love the "Do ya wanna do ya wanna" part. *swoon*
Yeah, but he still just calls her YOU. LOL Davy makes my heart pitter patter, too.
Their performance was played straight like an average rock video up to the point where Micky's lips suddenly became stuck and I just lost it! LOL Love this song, love the guys. Man I miss them.
Peter looks SO GOOD here. Omg. đđđđ
Madeline H. Peter always looks good
Now he looks like an old hippy.
They all do.
@@Bigbadwhitecracker he's perfection at any age xxx
@@ncb6487 OMG, yes!!! If there is any afterlife, lordy he'll be in it for me :)
RIP Davy and Peter đą Forever in my heart â€
This is probably my favorite song from "Pool It!". Or maybe "Heart and Soul".
Rip Davy Jones and Peter Tork đąđąđąđąđąđąđąđžđžđžđžđžđž
i love this song.Micky & I dated years ago, before he met his lovely wife. really amazing guy, & still in touch, spoke after davy, really sad. r.i.p.
"I'll even show you how to strut one day" I love it how this is a satire of rock music.
"Pool It!" has to be my 3rd or 4th favorite album the Monkees recorded. It's so unique - I love it. This is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite song on the album. Love It! This video is hilarious - I haven't seen it forever.
Yes I am. In fact I loved Nesmith's songs probably the most. I like this album just because it sounds cool, and the fact it's funny to picture and hear the Monkees performing in that "trademark" 80s sound... which of course this album was released in 1987. Sure it may not have anything from Michael, but the songs on here are still great. At least he came back (for a while) for both "Justus" and "Good Times!" Unfortunately, he has retired though.
Same here but for me, it's closer to number 2 or 3. I think the singles should have been Midnight, Don't let me down, or Secret Heart. Micky at his best. Every Step of the Way is Davy's best vocal ever. Peter's two offerings are great too.
Davy recorded I'll love you forever several times. I'm not that fond of it. However I just discovered a version he did just before he died in 2012. That's the keeper. For some reason, it's really powerful.
Saw Davy and the guys do this twice a night for a week in Tahoe. Front table. It was GREAT!
How I wish they could still do that ! I miss them
FAVORITE SONG NOTHING CAN TOP THIS!!!
I think this song is David's best vocal performance. He should have done more things like this.
Peter's biceps đȘ.....Damn!!!
Enough said, so glad they kept making music and gave us more of the Monkees !
David was so confident here .. part of his charisma
Frigging AWESOME!!!! 80s Monkees just as amazing as the 60s. Thanks for this!!!
RIP, Davy! Thank you for years of enjoyment!!!
Love this, they all look hot. x
Who would have ever thought that the Monkeys could do such a great cover of great Ian Hunter tune? Great stuff!
anyone going to complain theyre not 'really playing' their own brooms and trashcans? no? GOOD :P
Don't you like ""Clean", " Trashy" Tunes"??
You know they're not actually playing their own brooms and trash cans, right? Their carrots aren't even turned on, probably.
@@sfpincchicago Well, clearly the carrots aren't. Peter took a bite out of one.
@@sfpincchicago Good one! I love how Peter takes a bite from Davy's carrot. They all look and sound so good here! Wish they were still around.
@@lindas.5191 Yes. Caught the tail end of The Mike and Micky Show in Chicago and went to another suburb to see Micky's solo show.
Really, none of them were very old. Mid 70s isn't really "old" given the average lifespan, but of course, none died of natural causes. It's sad. Definitely see your favourite artists when you can. As a favourite broadcaster of ours would say, "Folks, our tomorrows are not guaranteed".
Davy looks extremely fit and tough in this video. The hair, the black denim, the chains. Wish he'd kept this look into the 2000s.
The 2000s are over
I LOVE THIS SONG AND ITS GREAT!! I'D GIVE ANYTHING TO HAVE DAVY BACK!!!
This is one of the best things I have ever seen! Great music, excellent ( and sooo cute) singers with just the right touch of humor...terrific video!!!
Peter looks good on this video!
Eleanor Andrews When didn't he?
@@lindas.5191 Very true - he always looked great!

Thank you so much !!
I love this song and the video!!!! so cheese ball 80's!! I
This is guilty pleasure. Avonyouuuu
i remember this on MTV in the 80s, holy shit, they're still so cute! the forks and buns pmsl...the whole video brings back great memories!
This is so bad it's good I love it
+Kate Sherman Good spoofy take on all those ego music vids of the mid-80's.
love hw Davy can rock that mullett.
Never told my first hubby, but I encouraged him to have the same Davy mullet. LOL
@@davemills7030 Never told my hubby, but I would have left him for Peter Tork in a hot second. LOL!
@@bluestmarble9934 That would have been a given, had you gotten the chance! (I mean, really, who wouldn't ??)
the monkees had 80s down it's awesome counting davy
Only mickey is left. Loved their show and music
R.I.P Davy and Peter
RIP DAVY!!! :( We will miss your awesome talent, your cool accent and great dancing moves. You were one of a kind and be truely missed. Being 27 and enjoying them for years was awesome and i as happy to see the monkees play near chicago this past summer! :)
I actually performed w/ Davy a couple times -- in Downtown Buffalo & in EPCOT
The greatest band â€ïž
They were so cool in the 60s and 80's
The TV series should have been brought back in the 80s. 3 members of a 60s group going 80s music to fit in. I would have watched TV in the 80s if this had been done.
Would've been far more entertaining than the New Monkees, that's for sure.
we try to forget the New Monkees :^(
rfb3011 that would have been great if it had been brought back
I agree.
Well I read The Monkees were offered to reboot their series but they wern't interested. So the producers auditioned hundreds of kids just like how The Monkees got the job. Hence New Monkees came on the scene. But that was short lived. All I have to say is that New Monkees are like New Coke. They both sucked and they both faded into obscurity.
Very different monkees. Love it. see you in the future guys.
80s monkees is an encapsulation of pure joy
â€â€â€â€they look really good in this video
This is so cool !!
Classic monkees!
Do you wanna Do you wanna Do you wanna DANCE
The Monkees do rock !
Love this song!!! Davy is hot!!!!!!!!hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grew up with Monkees and still love them. It is not the same without Davy, but he is in good hands now. The boys will do a wonderful tribute in November and next March.
A pretty good cover version of an Ian Hunter song. Fun to see/hear their interpretation.
Love it!!! R.I.P
Oh my god.... This is priceless
rip davy and peter
They look great here especially Peter. But where's Mike?
Cover of a song by Ian Hunter, of all people! So 80's! In my Monkees playlist with the original version. Thanks for the upload~
Status Quo in 86 did a cover of Ian Hunterâs Speechless , which was from the same album as Every Step of the Way! Itâs it even as if itâs a well known album!!
Peter looked so hot in the 80's X)
He sure does. They are all fantastic looking.
Damn right! Peter looks HOT anytime
@@ashleyschilla2542 omg typical female response!! Any Peter looks good
Peter Tork...as I live and breathe heavily. RIP.
They all looked gorgeous!!â€â€â€â€
R I P Davy ! Ill LOve you forever !
80's Monkees in 2020? I think so!
Davy showed us in this clip that he worked out. And yet, he died of a heart attack. May he rest in peace.
And I remember right after he died apparently he had had a complete physical because they were getting ready to tour again and the insurance company required it. And they said he had the heart of a 17 year old. I still donât understand.đ€·đ»ââïž
@@maryannlockwood7806 Me either. I was in middle school when that happened, and I still can't believe it
I USED TO SEE YOU ON THE AHVINYUU!
God bless The Monkees! YEAH YOU!!!!!
Awesome room
Love the mullet on Davy lol.
Great album! I used to have the vhs with the pool it music videos.
Wow! I never heard of this song before and never seen this video.. I LOVE IT!!! :)
I didn't even know they were still making music in the 80s. Hell, in the 80s I was just watching their original TV show for the first time here in Britain.
Yeah the documentation says this album was released summer 1987 but I remember hearing their songs that were brand new in 1986 and in 1986 there was this monkey's Revival that lasted into 1987 for all the fans who knew about them during the '60s to early seventies it was something from the past that was coming back that was very welcomed that's what was occurring in 1986 and 1987 but MTV refused to play their videos because they didn't show up for a Super Bowl concert
wish the album had sold better so they could have done another one without having to wait 10 years....but yeah i loved pool it!
It's still a fantastic album.
33 years ago this came out
I woke up with this song in my head this morning no Idea why and it has been such on repeat so had to play it haha
hot!
I have been a
monkey fan since I was 10 ... And never heard this song or saw this video!!! đł
I used to see you on the avenue
You were the girl that let me follow you
You used to hang out in the alleyway
You sewed a button on my shirt one day
I asked around until I found your name
Then underneath the arches in the pouring rain
I said - You (yeah, you) I want you
Every step of the way
I know that things are gettin' better
I know it's gonna be OK
So baby don't go - I ain't gonna let ya
I wanna be with you every step of the way
Every step of the way
Do ya wanna, do ya wanna, do ya wanna dance?
Take a chance, baby, take a chance
I'll be with you every of the way
I'll even show you how to strut one day
Ain't got a girl and it's a crying shame
'Cos I can't figure out who's to blame
I want you (yeah, you) I want you
Every step of the way
I know that things are gettin' better
I know things will be OK
So baby don't go - I ain't gonna let ya
I wanna be with you every step of the way
Yeah, every step of the way
I know that things are gettin' better
I know things will be OK
So baby don't go - I ain't gonna let ya
I wanna be with you every step of the way
Every step of the way
The lyrics are so cliched and bad .. yet I can't stop listening!
I never understood the line âyou sewed a button on my shirt one day.â Did this girl work at the dry cleaners? Does she have a little sewing business under the arches? Does she just randomly sew buttons on shirts without introducing herself so that he was forced to ask around to find out her name? Surely there could have been a much better way to make that rhyme.
That one line aside, I love this song. Itâs just fun.
@@IJustWantToUseMyName I love that line, it's so right -- just like teenagers hanging around together...and you know how you can be around someone just enough that it's embarrassing to ask their name, because you should already know it.
After finally learning her name, he still just calls her YOU. LOL When this song first came out, I made a black vest that looked just like Davy's. Loved them for 50 yrs.
They did the 80's very well with their humour, hot looks and talent.
Twenty years past their peak of youthful fame and still looking and sounding fantastic. Hats off!
Also into the 90s
I have ''Pool It'', and I agree that ''Every Step of the Way'' is one of the better cuts.
the monkees sound, just,as,good today as they did then rest davy, and peter
One of their better songs after Mike,
great new songs
The Monkees should have ended up on MTV
Omg, 80s monkees is so weird to međđ I'm so used to them in their 60s version
Yes!
Davy Jones had the hottest mullet and unibrow in the game! No jk! RIP!!
Yes he did!
It's Tali I love the Monkees that was so funny where is Mike? Cool video đâ€đčđ¶
These guys were such a natural at whatever they did. They were a huge part of my childhood on the TV!
I fucken love this song
Remembering Mike, Pete and Davy Today.... Man.. this year blows.. Mike and Micky just came off a tour....
Nothing like these guys I tell you I'm a Mexican American. nothing like these dudes
Dance axl dance!!! Oh wait that davey!!! đ I love this!! Met you in an alleyway ... You sewed a button on my shirt one day.. Lyrical genius!!! Genius!!!
