You had one heck of a grandpa made 3 or 4 generations happy with his music including a lot of scooby doo fans but I know how you feel my second cousin was Jim nabors I'm always looking for his songs or vids of him saying shazam or golly because my dad told me when I was little he would say them and start laughing like crazy I was just an infant and when Jimmy was on gomer Pyle or the Andy Griffith show he would say that on there because he knew my dad had me watching and I would just start cackling

He had exactly 60 days left when this interview was held. Yes we never know what the future holds from one day to the next and really should try to value and embrace every minute of every day. Davy seemed to be a good example of a person who enjoyed life and tried to do just that. One of my favorite all-time rock performers. God bless him and may he continue to RIP.

It was such a shock hearing when he passed, especially afterwards when it was reported this arteries were so badly blocked. A little guy with never any real excess weight on him his entire life, he wasn't even afforded the 'warning' heart attack prior. I'm wondering if early heart disease existed in either side of his family.

He was lovely, although he didn't talk like he's talking here, he reverted back to Mancunian. I can always tell when English entertainers have become Americanised by the way they say The Beatles. I just got some, and held one out the window for him to take. He ran to my truck !!!!! We ended up sitting on his porch, drinking a few more, and shooting the bull for about an hour and a half. And like they say, the rest is history. We became good friends because of that day. And yes, he did admire firemen. I told him i was a fireman at that time ( now i hung up my hèlmet . @@jeffthewhiff It was because my best friend was well acquainted with his mother-in-law, Phyllis, who had a dress shop on Ventura Bl. and had made clothes for her. She pretended we weren't fans, so silly. We were dying after she spoke into the intercom at the gate, to have Davy suddenly come open it saying, "Hi! I'm David!" We'd been fans since age 13 and at 17 we tried hard to be "cool." It was a challenge!!! Davy led us up the long steps to the house and I followed his black boots in disbelief, then we sat talking to Phyllis down the hall from a little party Micky had going on and Davy and I made eye contact constantly from where we each sat. I looked like the lady who became his first wife, so I guess I was his type (!) but I was still too young to think of him as a real person and not my crush from the TV show. I have regretted that ever since! Thanks so much for responding, Jeff....it's a delight to share my little tale! Both times I met Davy he was incredibly sweet and polite.

After the show Davey came out to speak with our class and had a Q&A for about 30 minutes. He wasn’t much older than any of us kids and was extremely nice to everyone and actually seemed very excited to meet us. He passed away way to young.
