    Pledge floor cleaner... Don't. It will yellow and crack! Polycrylic ages well. Drain any excess by placing them upside down in cups. Allow the medium to set apx 3 minutes _BEFORE_ adding your glitter. These are important steps. Allow 24 hr drying time before capping.

I also went to Walmart and bought ketchup bottles not sure if that’s what they are called that I put my glitter in to pour into the ornaments and I also put a garbage bag on my work surface and it catches any loose glitter and is not all over! I uses the polyacrylic but it was still wet and runny even a week later leaving clear spots. I tried to redo the process for a second layer and it all just ran. What am i doing wrong?

      Same thing is happening to me. I put the Polycrylic in the ball, coated it well, let it drip for 2 or 3 min, then poured glitter and dumped excess.. It's been 2 days and it's not dry. I tested it, to see if it was dry, by gently placing my finger on the side and it moved. It's still wet. Have you found a solution yet?

      @@mandijones4995 Hey guys! I just made some last night with poly, I let mine sit upside down on an old pill bottle for like 10 min then added the glitter. and shook it around. I just checked on them about 24 hours later and they are all dry. hope this helps. :)

      I've made baubles as gifts for last 10 years for sick children...blue glitter or acrylic with Superman logo and red ones also. Found 2 old ones in my craftroom from 4 years ago and they are still perfectly fine. I used modge podge gloss lustre or sparkle (thinned down a little) just tried another one 1 week ago using Craftmill polyurethane craft varnish clear gloss same consistency as Minwax £3.10 for 250ml as opposed to Minwax over £30 for us in the UK 😳. Just checked their website out of stock atm 🙊...just found the little craftybugs company and creativ company online...both have demo of glitter baubles made with transparent glass glue....hope this helps 👍

    i’ve always used the super gloss mod podge, but watered down! it works so much better than just using mod podge as is. it dries much clearer and i’ve never had issues with this method.

    We used the pledge floor cleaner because it was a last minute idea to have a fun craft to do with my family. We loved how easy and fun it was! And we all loved our creations! UNTIL... the next morning when all our ornaments were clear again. That was very disappointing. Oh well, lesson learned - stick to polyacrylic.

      I don’t know how to make a comment on my own, sorry for adding to this .... Tanner, how do you ‘PAINT’ the inside of ornaments? I used polycrylic mixed with chalk paint and also tried it mixed with acrylic paint... both keep chipping. I do use plastic bulbs. I have many orders coming in and I am scared to paint these bulbs again bc last years didn’t hold up for most. I am so sad!

    We have found that Pledge and other floor polishes did not hold up well for ornaments you want to keep. Is disheartening for anyone who has spent time making these ornaments, whether a child or adult, to have the glitter not stick well, ornaments yellow, etc.

  • @margarettadusz143
    @margarettadusz143 Před 3 lety +1

    I prefer only using polyurethane and waiting 30 mins before putting in the glitter to ensure all excess poly is drained out and tacky NOT wet, glitter sticks beautiful and you absolutely have to let them dry 48 hours before putting the tops back on or you risk scratching the glitter off with those crazy little prongs

  • @marias7318
    @marias7318 Před rokem

  • @evelynquinones7683

      But it’s not clear. I tried it out and it clouded my fine glitter 😩 wasn’t happy with the result so I ended up rinsing it out and using clear Elmer’s glue, it really makes it sparkle ✨
