Cooter not Skeeter!
Breaker one, breaker one, I might be crazy but I ain't dumb.
I got a 4 car set when I was a kid which included the General Lee, Daisy's Jeep, Boss Hogg's Cadillac and Rosco's Police Car. They're all still in mint condition because, well... I looked after my stuff when I was a kid.
Thanks for the tip on fixing the bull horns. I've still have my Boss Hogg caddy in near mint shape except for one broken horn. I'm going to give it a try and fix it up. Great vids. 👍
“Get those Duke boys!” This is awesome!! I had the whole set.
Beautiful mate well done
Ah! memories awakened. Great restoration
Great restoration
It looks great! Thanks for sharing this restoration.
Excellent job. I love the Dukes Of Hazzard.
I bought 2 sets of cars . 1 set I played with as a kid. Other never touched. 40 years later still have both sets
Great job. Love the horns !!!
Good job . It looks very nice .
Great job!
Great job I love it
Great JOB! Thanks for a great video!
Very nice !
Excellent restoration! Brings back memories
Crisp and clean. Love the horns!
Awesome love it ❤️
I remember seeing the set in 83. Classics!!!
My favourite show!
I have one in cars box
Cool you work great
Wow I had one of those back in the day , happy memories .
favourite ERTL would have to be the Tim Burton bat mobile, took that car everywhere as a kid. great content thanks for sharing.
Super video et très belle Cadillac bien refaite👍❤👏🚘🚖🚚🇫🇷
Those horns were definitely pointed on the TV show. This was a good restoration. Great job. Regards, Solomon
Love it. I've been thinking of doing an Abraham Lincoln Hogg Caddy from an extra one I have
This was a nice resto,I have many of these ertl die casts and they were always kinda crued diecasts, but i'm a very big fan of the dukes of hazzard and have collected all of them over the years even cooters pickup truck. I even have a ertl hardees race team pickup trailer and stock car set. The pick up is the same casting as cooters gold pickup only in white
The Dukes of Hazzard is an awesome show and I have Boss Hogg's car and the General Lee. Nice restoration bud, I look forward to seeing you do the rest one day from the Dukes.
Great job Danny, probably looks better now than it did brand new.
Good on ya for making one out of two. Aannnd now you has a Zombie Apocalypse caddy shell for a future build...
Fun fact Sorrell Booke (the actor who played Boss Hogg) was a cousin of Max Yasger (of Woodstock fame) and a CIA operative for a spell.
Curious as to why Sheriff Coltrane would even bother chasing the Duke Boys. Not like he didn't know where they lived. Oh, well... television logic...
Sorrell Brooke. lol
Sorrell Booke
Chez Snailez 👌😄
Yee-Haw!!!!... Awesome work Danny, nice bull horns👍
Looks pretty good Danny
Awesome.
Nice one Danny looks great ,it was a rough old casting though.
All the best.
It's different version of a same car. The one you're working on is a Hong Kong version, while the other one was made in U.S. Still a great work! That U.S. version can be done with something like a customization!
Great job!!!!
Yeah, GOTTA see Roscoe's/Cletus's police car next!
you should put a little figure of Boss Hogg and Rosco in the Cadillac
Top job Danny! I spent many an hour watching the show as a kid too, there were 3 different packs from memory, two 3 car packs and one 5 car pack (plus individual cars) from 2 different casting runs. From memory the packs were as follows.
First pack was the General Lee, Boss Hogg's Caddy, and Sheriff Rosco's police car.
Second pack was the General Lee, Daisy's Jeep and Deputy Enos' police car.
The 5 pack was the General Lee, Boss Hogg's Caddy, Rosco's police car, Uncle Jesse's F100 and (final season) Daisy's 1972? Plymouth Roadrunner. I picked up a near mint individual version of Boss Hogg's Caddy still in the packaging about 10 years ago I have tucked away for the future, weighs nothing even with the packaging lol.
Great!
The end result looks good. You could use a gundam marker (or similar) for the rims, it's easier. You can also use this for window trims and such (if you've got a steady hand that is)
You also have the General Lee and Rosco's police car :)
i have these cars
@@ReneVIDEOcenter I have Rosco's cop car :)
hola saludos d.d,col. danny mui buena restauración los 2 son vintage uno de ee,uu. y hong kong de warner bros .paga restaurar los 2 son joyas buen video felicitaciones exitos y bendiciones 🖖👍👏
Ok I have to add to my last comment. I just found one of these in the wild and bought it because it was in better shape than the one I had, and it did have those silly little knobs on the end of those wire like horns. Inserting foot in mouth. Lol.
Haha yes I haver had a few people comment thatthe balls wern't on there, but I looked at a lot of pictures and they seemed to be there. Maybe some were made without them. My end knobs are a little bigger than original I think but fiddly enough still
Decent. I had this until I disassembled it. Now it's a metal body waiting to be turned into something
Knife Craze 2.0 I couldn’t tell you how many wheels, bodies, frames and any other junk just waiting to be something one day.
Very nice job Danny. Skeeter....Hahahaha! Its Cooter.lol. Unfortunately Ertl owned the licensing for most tv show and movie cars back then. They were so cheaply made. But that's all we had back then. I have a big collection of the ertl entertainment vehicle's from that era.some still in the packaging
Yes they are not well made, you have to be really careful not to just break them taking them apart. I don't remember the bad quality as a kid tho I would have just been super stoked to have the toys.
@@DannysDiecastDisasters i had the dukes, fall guy, and smokey and the bandit T/A, i replaced that with a hot bird since it looked better when playing Smokey and the bandit
Rob from Matchbox Garage was given all three cars from the series recently. Think there were five vehicles in the set or run!
Ertl did a good job recreating them all. Watched the show because of Daisy Duke😛, but the crazy car chase antics were an extra bonus to me.😎
What is with the steer horns having round balls on the end? They come to a point and face forward at those tips!🐮🐂 Nice restore for Ertl!
Nice , very cool . I customized the cop car , with the top cut off, id you see that one . Awesome , Mike Espo...
Not quite such of a silk purse from a sows' ear but, pretty close. Good job as ever.
I’ve replaced a wheel on one of these, it already had the horn but there were a lot of chips, different windshield though and print
Ya no se llamará el auto de Boss Hogg... ahora su nombre será "cuernos chuecos" 🤣
Es un chiste... Admiro tu trabajo y las horas que le dedicas, felicitaciones!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Saludos desde México 🇲🇽
Nice job. Sometime, I can't remember when, Ertl reissued the sets. I picked them up kind of cheap, maybe 2010 was the year.
Yeah I noticed new ones for sale on Amazon or somewhere like that
Looks better when new. Love to see one with custom real rider tires.
MR. BOSS HOGG WOW
WHEN I WAS WATCHING THIS BACK IN THE DAY I REMEMBER BOSS HOGG HAS AN TWIN BROTHER
AND THE FUNNY PART HIS TWIN BROTHER IS A GOOD GUY IN ONE EPISODE
Boss Hogg was Jefferson Davis Hogg (J.D.) and His Brother (also Played By Sorrell Booke) was Abraham Lincoln Hogg.
@@ronaldcowan9321 awesome
I love this casting. I like how the old ERTL cars are kind of crude. The only thing I don't like about this casting is that stupid windshield, it sits down too low into the cowl and is leaned back too far. I have this car with chipped paint and left it like that and gave it a flat clear coat, filled the hole in the hood where the horns were and gave it Hot Wheels steelies painted Silver leaf and lowered it. I also repositioned the windshield so it looks right. Looks sweet now.
Yeah the windscreen doesn't really fit properly it has the wrong curve on it.I guess the riveted version forced it up more but even that looked low.
I had this as a kid
Plus police car
Daisy's jeep
Uncle Jesse's truck
And Gen. Lee
Awesome video . Maybe you could Make a replica with a Better casting one with a metal base etc.
Breaker one, breaker one, Craaaaaazy Cooter comin atcha!
Great job, im wonder if your second car might be a newer remake
I. My. Self. Looking. At. The. Work. An. It. Is. Very. Sweet 😊. My. Brother. As. Always. I. Do. All. You're. Videos. Brother. Never. Stop. Lee
I would glue the other interior and would make a regular ‘69 Cadillac convertible out of the other one!
Roscoe’s police car in this series was a (1980-ish?) Pontiac Bonneville. Totally incorrect for the show, but it was a decent model by Ertl’s standards, and had a nice scale to it. Ertl also had a pretty good Chevrolet Caprice from the same era. Not sure if it was ever a police unit, but it did turn up as various stock race cars and as the Hawaiian Tropic racer in Ertl’s Cannonball Run line (which was overall rather dire beyond that vehicle).
The brown pick up without the decals on it ,is cooter's truck missing the cooter's garage decal on the doors. The other brown pick up is the fall guy from the TV show. Love your videos. Just saying hey from Albany NY.
I have the exact same car including the actual orange charger
Rosco p Coltrane liked this video
🔥🤘🏻
I have one of these and I don't remember the horns having those knobs on the end. Could you include the pictures you are referencing in the video. Also I would have swapped the front and rear axles, as the ones on the rear looked to be the best, and you can hide the other ones behind those skirted fenders.
Honestly I never believed Ertl ever took their diecast division seriously. The quality was only about as good as any of the other second rate brands like Yatming or Zee. I believe they were trying to capitolize on the popularity of this scale, and also get licensing deals from The Dukes of Hazard and other TV shows. I remember The Fall Guy, (GMC 4x4) and Knight Rider (KITT) as well as the movie The Cannonball Run. Ertl's bread and butter were larger trucks and farm equipment which I believe they still make to this day. I would say they should have stuck with that but then this video would never have gotten made. I love the finish with the car sitting in front of the out of focus picture, it looks perfect. RIP Sorrel Booke.
it was Cooter not skeeter just to let you know .... nice resto of hoggs car
turn that extra Boss Hogg Cadillac into a post apocalyptic car, steel cage in place of windows, wire barbed wire fence for the windows, etc.
If you look again at the bases, one was made in the USA, and one was made in Hong Kong, so that's likely the reason why they're different.
I just realised the ertl Dukes of Hazard sets are the same ones my mother has still in packaging (except a General Lee which she gave to me)
Once you get all your dukes vehicles you should do either a duke farm diorama and or a boars nest diorama and maybe a scooters garage diorama
I loved these cars as a kid but I swear Ertl's stuff was practically disposable.
Crrrrazy Skeeter Comin at cha....
Cooter
@@rockettcustoms6266 Then whos Skeeter? Or Roscoe Strate? Or Enos P Coaltrane??
Very nice - didn't realise there were two versions, was one longer than the other? You're right that ERTL castings are very low quality, a shame as they had a lot of good releases, especially TV cars.
Rich Secker - Have you seen The Fall Guy truck? Horrendous casting!! Looks nothing like the original truck. Yet, Ertl makes great castings for 1/64, and 1/16 scale farm tractors. I guess that's what they specialize in.
great job... have you ever customized cooter's gmc wrecker from tv show the dukes of hazzard
i love the duke's of hazzard I have a general lee ertl
Great car, the horns are pointed on the ends. The only reason I know is because I am looking at one right now.
funny, I am looking at my 100% original 1981 Boss Hogg Cadillac. and they aren't pointed.
@@bandittweintraub funny im looking at a still pic from the tv show and the horns are pointed
@@Lfd-225 I was talking about the 1:64 scale replica
Cooter was the mechanic and he had the tow truck
The Car Chases were the Best things I'd like about the Dukes of Hazzard Rosco chases the Dukes and ends up crashing his car which was kind of a thing in the 1970's and 1980's where the Cops chases the main character and ends up wreaking their cop car.
Is there some kind of low bass tone playing in the background of these videos?
4:25 I'm gonna use some... POISON!
Can't believe he didn't think the horns didn't look like bull horns but insects antenna
i love the Dukes of Hazzard ! fun Facts 1) Boss Hogg was Never really that fat ! Sorrell Booke the acter who played County Commissioner and Hazzard county Mayor Jefferson Davis Hogg aka JD Hogg or more widley known as Boss Hogg had padding to make his stomach look bigger then it really was ! although Sorrell Booke did have a Chubby face his body wasn't as bad as seen as Boss Hogg ! 2) in the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie Boss Hogg's Cadillac had the addtion of Gun Pistols as Door handels ! 3) Boss Hogg had a Wife called Lulu Hogg ! and Lulu was related to the Sheriff Rosco P.Coltraine ! being his sister ! so Boss and Rosco are brothers though marriage ! Crazy ! :) 4) in the end Credits in the early seasons end when the Wanner Bros logo showed up you here Boss saying " Them Dukes ! Them Dukes ! " it was later Replaced by Rosco's " Tee Hee Hee ! " laugh in the later seasons . 5) the P. in Sheriff Rosco P.Coltraine stands for Purvis. and i do belive it was a play on Elvis and Perverted hence Purvis .
I have one, excellent shape, just some tiny chips in paint and horns missing ,otherwise perfect all around .
Hey Danny YEE HAA Now Hit Rob up for the rest, If you haven't see his latest haul video yet. Nice resto considering what they are.
you're knocking out quick Danny, third one in a week?turned out fine, but i couldn't stand that series at any price.
A have the General Lee
I think it's very likely that the one that said Made in the USA was earlier than the one from Hong Kong.
I have the original version from this show the General Lee to the two police cars to Daisy Jeep boss Hoggs and cooters
Nice job Danny poor casting Brian Thailand
That duke hazer
The windsheild is much lower than before
I don't think I've ever seen one with intact horns but I always assumed they were pointed like a bull
I've got one with the original bullhorns, they're quite thin and fragile.
@@walesaudit2771 cool I might find one one day but I'll probably have to Shell out some dough for an intact one.
I'll ship those ertl diecasts including Daisy's Jeep and the hardcastle and McCormick coyote car
Nice job Danny. Have you found an Ertl General Lee yet?
No, i saw a Daisy's Jeep the other day but they wanted like $20 for it so I passed. Hopefully i score some more of the set in a bulk lot.
Well let me have your address and I’ll send you a general lee. I’ll post it from Sydney on Monday morning.
@@nathanobrien6875 Thanks a mil for the offer mate, I am currently in the process of getting a PO Box that I'll post in public, but you can also email me in the about section (need to look on a browser rather than the app) 👍
I remember I brought that Caddy but I sold to person who restore the diecast car
No clear coat for shine?
Yes it has a clear coat 👍
