The Oyster Perpetual range received a dramatic update in 2020. Rolex retired the 39mm size for the entire range, and also introduced quite a few new lively dial executions. Five new notable colours being, candy pink, yellow, green, coral red, and turquoise. Today we have a look at the OP in 36mm with the Turquoise dial.

Great video! I am genuinely impressed. I have the previous gen op36 and I like it more than the new ones because of the wider lugs. It is more masculine in my opinion. But I guess that helps on the “sporty” side. There is probably more “dressy” upside in the new updated gen

Really exceptional work, great quality video. I like the inclusion of the extension on the clasp for this new model. I have the previous generation OP36 and the only thing I would change about it is the lack of on the fly adjustment

Great review. This Tiffany Blue dial is my favour colour out of all the available colours. 36mm looks just right on your wrist.

I agree, if I only had one Rolex. It wouldn't be the coloured dial. Living in New Mexico with all the native Americans making jewelry. The turquoise blue would fit in fine. With my Rolex GMT, day date, along with my oyster 126000 with the black dial.i would buy one on the spot.
Honestly I'm leaning back towards 36mm as the perfect size for a watch, anything bigger always seems sort of clunky for me. 40-44mm is too easy to smack on things, and weighs a little too much to be comfortable.
Agreed dj 41 is a wall clock size
For me it’s especially the OP because it is a simple watch and simple watch dial so no reason for it to be big. Big OP is like these huge air intakes on an electric car.

Spot on review. I agree with everything you said. My favorite dial color is yellow. I think 36mm OP Stellas going to be more collectible than 41mm. I heard that Rolex produced 4 times less of 36mm compared to 41mm.
But the 36mm is currently available so that is irrelevant seeing the 41mm production was halted.

The light blue "Tiffany" one is the most expensive right now cause of the grey market thing. It's left to be seen which color dial will be the most valuable in the future

39mm is now only possible in steel for the Explorer. I wonder what that means.. doubling down on 39mm for the (I suppose soon to be) updated Explorer? Or will that also get upsized/downsized?

@@yasarmo it’s a watch that can be worn by both men and women so to classify it feminine does it a disservice. I personally feel if you like something wear the hell out of it regardless what other people think.
Yes true. I’m just a bit conscience like that.... saying that, I’ve had a look on Chrono24, they’re going for nearly 3 times the retail so there must be a huge demand for them.

Thanks! Despite a small 3mm difference, the 39mm explorer to me wears considerably larger 🤷♂️ the 36 feels super compact whereas the 39 has some extra room to breathe

Your video is one of the better made video on 2020 Rolex OP. Close up of rehaut confirmed my inquisitiveness that the serial # has been etched by laser on rehaut at 6 o'clock. Turquoise? Rolex fans call it Tiffany blue. One watch pundit declared the Red Coral dial will command highest premium; too garish 4 me, tho. Tif blue is good; black dial is always in style

hah :-D Thank you for the nice words! It is similar in construction and materials to the other retro styled shirt which appears in the other videos. As this is a more elaborate print, been testing how well the print holds up after a few washes. It is sized MEDIUM by the way :-D
I just picked up the OP31 on turquoise for my wife and the colour is absolutely stunning. Even more striking in person, it’s probably the only ladies watch I’ve ever been excited about lol..
It is interesting to me that on the Rolex website they have the 36 mm listed as a women’s size but they have 36 mm Datejust listed as a men’s size
Agreed! Not too long ago, my AD also thought I was mad asking for a 36mm… Surely I had to go up a size for the men’s watches…

Great watch but already they are not available anywhere. The AD I called won't even let me order one. And you have these grey market ripoff price-gouging flippers now charging up to THREE TIMES the retail cost. It's insane. I mean seriously? It used to be just the sports watches that were unattainable but now even the basic OP's have fallen into this silly Rolex marketing supply and demand black hole. A person who wants to buy a Rolex at MSRP should be able to find and buy one without bending over for these greedy flippers.

Yes the bright color does add some visual “size” to it all 👍
I always liked the minimalist design of the OP, however, the double markers at the 3, 6 and 9 should return to singles as the previous models were. It just looks better that way. Other than that small dislike, it's a fine piece. Aso, basic black would be the way to go.

I think only the 39mm OP had the single batons didn't it? I'm pretty sure the previous OP 36mm had double batons.

@@valengreymoon5623 I got curious and went back and looked at some pics I had of the previous OP's. The 34mm had single batons, the 36mm had doubles and the 39mm singles. Not sure why they weren't all the same. I wish the new one still came in white though. That color looked classy and more of an every day color. .

Omega has a lot to learn when it comes to the size and shape of the case styling.
I have an OP 36 and an Omega AT 38mm - quite close on the wrist size-wise. The Omega appears to be the better-built watch, with the more detailing on the case and dial, with possibly a better movement as COSC+Metas certified and 15,000 gauss anti-magnetic too. The Rolex has the edge on the bracelet.
@@Televisiontechnology I have the latest aqua terra and love it. But yeah the bracelet is crap, especially the lack of adjustability.
There is something badass about smaller watches. I’m wearing 36mm on my 7.25 wrist everyday.

I think it’s a sunburst metallic turquoise dial that they use for platinum only. I’m rather surprised Tiffany’s were ok with it 😉
Notwithstanding what everyone calls it, it's not the same shade as Tiffany Blue.
@Yorkiepoocharlie the platinum versions have a sunburst dial, the others a flat turquoise (OP 41 and 36 etc)

I'm probably on my own, but I don't get the new colours - very strong and bold, nothing classic or understated - fine for some, but not all. I have the previous generation with the starburst blue dial with the explorer typeface, 3, 6 9 markers - which for me, the colour is a little more classy and goes with more. Guess they are trying something different or to appeal to a different audience. I would not have bought one with these colours.
Thanks for the insight! I don't think you are on your own at all here. These are definitely polarizing colors (some say not fitting to the brand for example). I think, as you say, the aim could be that this would (hopefully) appeal to a different OP audience than the one they already captured. The starburst blue dial you have, especially with the 369, is an absolute winner - great choice.

@M m I must have missed that...never having seen these colours on any Rolex in my lifetime! In fact i’ve never seen a vintage one with those colours. Must be quite rare.
@M m It is mentioned somewhere in the vid. These colors are new to OP as far as I know, these were reserved for precious metal Rolex watches in the past. I couldn’t find any use of these dials on stainless steel in the past

The only good thing about this watch is that it is available in 34 + 36mm cases.
Hopefully the horrendous colours now being offered will age as badly as a Conservative politician talking about honesty.
Thankfully Rolex are still producing the 36mm Explorer for those insisting on a Rolex.
When they eventually offer better dials hopefully they will reintroduce the brilliant 3,6,9 indices.
That is *definitely* not the jacket to pair with this dial color...
41mm is ridiculous, it's massive for a dressy watch.
Man rolex has some serious issues. I contacted the largest rolex AD in our country a couple weeks ago asking for a black 36mm OP. They phoned me a couple days later saying that it is possible to put me on a 1 year waitlist if i deposited 20%. Remember this is strictly for a black dial. They dont put anyones name in for a different colour. So they asked me to drop by and leave a deposit. I went there a a few days later. The salesman wasted half hour (+1 hour trip) of my time just to tell me he would take my details and then contact their HQ and see if they can put me on a waitlist estimated to be 1.5 years. If HQ approves he would phone me in a few days so I could come back another time to pay a deposit of 25%. Have not heard a word since. We are talking about a black 36mm entry level watch. I can count the number of people talking about this exact configuration on one hand!
Even for the 36mm OP now? In Belgium that is still more or less ok (more or less). Nobody should ever have to go on a waiting list for an OP, let alone a year! This is getting really crazy, I do wonder if this is a good long term strategy for the crown... Surely this is upsetting a fair amount of potential customers. Thanks for sharing your experience, fascinating to hear. May I ask which region of the world you are in?

It is absolutely insane and unsustainable. Talk to your local AD, with a tiny bit of patience these should never go for anything above retail.
