In this performance, my man Josh gave it all.
Really loved his backing vocals and everythng else.
The only problem with this being live is that Flea’s tone is much more shallow and “slappy” when the studio version is deeper and richer. I think the more rich tone works better with this song, personally.

Its the kick drowning the bass guitar, not there fault. Its the engineer. Kick was way to over powering.
Propably in the recording he is using the real thing (MM Stingray). I read few years back that Musicman refused to make him a signature stringray model (company policy, not only for Flea) so he is since using Stringray copies from Modulus and now Fender at least in live situations.
No need for it to be that way either. Still sounds great, mind.
@@GeorgeVrachliotis he used his 1960s pink jazz bass to record all of the getaway. The bass isn't the issue here, it's definitely the mixing

I hear ya but Frusciante had to come back. But Josh’s solo stuff with Pluralone is great. I love it so much. Worth a listen. Give it two listens and you’ll love it forever.
I agree, looking forward to the new album coming out but I felt that Josh was totally coming into his own as a chili pepp. I felt there was still so much to be done with him. Been wondering about whether they will play anything from the Josh era live now, especially after Flea's Rick Rubin interview where he said playing John's songs with Josh felt like they were a cover band. Presumably he would feel the same way with John playing Josh's songs.

nfh08 i think it his his style to go all out really, just like every other pepper. They keep it simple in studios, and when they go all out in live shows they become 100% more badass. And thats why the fans love it. Many bands nowadays perform the way they do in studio. The Peppers are definitely the most energetic rock band to perform live on stage
