I am 80 and started plant based food and have really more energy than before, I love guys
You are very helpful
I am will be 76 in 2 months and I to went plant based 1 month ago and I am already starting to feel better and have lost 10 pounds! It is never to late to start, I did it because of the suggestion of my primary doctor, I am not a diabetic but my cholesterol is a bit high (LDL) so I took his advise and I am loving it!!!
I don’t have to imagine it, I was a bedridden convalescent. Slowly turned it around. Eventually went totally plant based and finally conquered chronic pain, too. Lost 175 lbs and got off a dozen medications, got out of a walker, reversed Diabetes 2. I’m 65 now and have kept the weight off for almost 7 years. I feel invincible! Now my eye is on amateur Natural Senior Vegan Bodybuilding, if that exists. I want to replace lost muscle from wasting while I was a convalescent and add some for bone strength and more health resilience for my later years. Planning on getting to 100.
Excellent ! I can’t move and want to go on pb. I’m on my way
Wise!
Great I love your success story I am on my way I am trying very hard sometimes I sleep back into eating regular foods but I am continuing the journey to get out of the medication by going full plant base so there you go thanks for your encouragement keep up the good work
Awesome, great job.
I agree Cherry...plant based with very little meats is the way to go...I also eat hardly any carbs...but now n then i cheat by making biscuits, lol.
But when i changed my diet no SUGAR only frankmust sugar drops...n now have lots of energy...but now its cold n i am slow moving.
Yay!
Gentlemen: there are millions of people suffering from the effects of poor nutrition. Glad to see what you are doing and one big THANKS AND BLESSINGS TO YOU TWO.
He’s right when he says there is no age at which a plant-based diet will not benefit us. in the last few years of her life, my 80 year old mother was bedbound. She was diabetic with sores on her feet that would not heal. Her doctor believe that amputation would be the only possibility. I took over the responsibility of being her full-time, live-in caregiver and I cooked for her the way I cook for myself; lots and lots of whole, gorgeous plant foods. As her nurses Debrided the black necrotic tissue on her feet, they began to see soft pink flesh underneath! Her feet had begun to heal themselves and it was no longer necessary for her to have them amputated. Her doctor was stunned and, reluctantly, attributed the success to the improvements in her nutrition.
Also, Hyberbaric Oxygen Chamber treatments save extremities, kills viruses and bacteria, and prevents amputation.
You are a beautiful person, what you have done for your mum. Wish you all the best.😊
Amazing testimony! Thank you!
Really thank Dr Barnard and everyone in physicians committee. I lost 6kg and my husband lost 9kg. I hope our bodies get better and better each day. Thanks for your hard works to help people around the world.
Ó
Great job by both of you. Thank you so much! I have been vegan for over 40 years and my wife has been vegan for 73 years.
Thank you for hosting Dr. Cyrus so that he can share his knowledge! Understanding an issue is the first step to beating it! Hope to hear him more!
OMG! This is just the information I needed. Thank you , thank you, thank you!
Great show...everyone that has the reversible types of diabetes should watch this. 😀
More energy than a puppy. That's adorable! Also, that's what I need! I'm overweight, but I don't have blood glucose issues. I've had my doctor check multiple times over the last few years, just because of my weight, but I'm not even close, according to my last labs. However, like your patient, Cyrus, I have very little energy, and it's been that way for years! I'm only 43, too. Way too young to be done living life! I'm vegan, but I don't consistently eat low fat. What you said about your patient improving over 3-4 months clicked with me, though. I've never eaten low fat for more than 4-6 weeks at a time. I'm going to give it a good 3-6 months try, and see how I feel after that! Thank you!
Check your fasting insulin, that would be high and is causing the tiredness
Morning watching here from Bacolod city Philippines. Love watching Dr khambatta explain what to eat and avoid. Am in my 70s and been eating veggies for weeks now. Feels great! Love you guys!
Thank you for the the knowledge and positivity!
Thank you for having Dr. Cyrus on the program. He’s made it so much easier to understand the relationship between food and your body as it relates to blood sugar. I’m very intrigued and now feel very hopeful that there’s a way to lower blood sugar naturally. I’m making plant strong my new way of life. Thank you!
Tnx so much for the nice and important info.. i am diabetic for 10 years already and hopefully i can reverse my diabetics...
listening and watching from Toronto Canada. I have been eating plant based diet since I was 21 yrs old, now I'm 75 and never been to any hospital or serious illness.
Amazing
Cyrus is very good about explaining diabetes and the optimal diet.
So I have been following this guy and the likes of Neil Bernard for about 18 month and I can tell you everything he is saying is true and it works! I tried everything to beat symptoms of diabetes including a balance diet, keto diet and the carnival diet non of which worked! Keto diet seem to work for a few month but I noticed it was masking the issue coz if I accidentally had something that had alot of carbs my sugar would shoot up and my symptoms would instantly come back as if I hadn't been working hard for month to keep it down! Eventually I got sick of it turned to a plant based low fat diet and within 4 days all my symptoms disappeared! Since then I gradually increased my carbs and now I can't believe how many carbs I eat and I don't have any issue at all! I can't even believe I ever ate animal products !
I really like this doctor. I am doing low carb diet but now after hearing these discussions I will follow this show and specially doctor Cyrus.

Great information! Thank you!
Thank you for this video.
I love this show. So much info
A few questions:
1️⃣lentil pasta and the others you mentioned as a better option to grain pastas, are they not undergoing the same process? They too would be dried, milled, reconstituted and shaped. My question is that just like the grain pastas would these not lose nutrients by the time they come to the table?
2️⃣The increase in insulin at dawn, how does it affect your hunger? Does it get you hungry?
3️⃣If you are doing intermittent fasting the increased production of insulin and the other hormone does it affect your hunger?
4️⃣Is a breakfast made of beans in different forms like whole or soaked and ground into a batter to make a savoury pancake or steamed batter, fruits and yogurt a good choice or should a breakfast be all carbs.
5️⃣A lot of people skip breakfast, is it a better choice or does it cause harm in the long run.
For 56 years I have eaten breakfast. I cannot think of going without breakfast. My last meal is a bowl of fresh homemade yoghurt at 8 pm. Breakfast at 9am, lunch at 1.30 pm, fruit at 5 pm, yogurt at 8 pm. I walk 5-7 km everyday.
6️⃣ I was told that I had gestational diabetes in my final month of pregnancy, though on the day of the test I had gorged on mangoes and Idlis ( a steamed preparation made of pulses and rice soaked, ground into batter and fermented overnight before steaming). Wondering if it could have affected the readings. It was just on that one day that my readings weren’t great.
My readings have since then always been bang in the middle of the range.(4.5).
But again in 2019, I had an anaphylactic attack due to inhaling of wheat flour while making bread.
Though I did not eat wheat, I cooked with it for family and friends. I had increased my handling of wheat flour, plain flour etc over 3 months before the attack.
I was given medications that increased my blood sugar levels (11, 12, 15)at the hospital and was told that I had diabetes. My blood was tested barely 20 minutes after eating a meal. I was served grapes, watermelon, rice and hardly any veggies during the 4 day hospital stay.
The Doctors wanted to give me an insulin injection which I vehemently declined.
I challenged the diagnosis of diabetes saying that I believe the high levels were probably caused by medications and my body going through the trauma.
After a 3 month average reading that was 7.5.
Almost 2 years later my blood sugar levels were back to 4.5.
I have since stopped all use of wheat and its products. They are prohibited in my household.
My added sugar intake is quite low, oil intake quite low. I do not eat processed foods except gluten-free pasta occasionally. I use jowar flour instead of wheat flour to make my chapati.
Does this mean that I may end up getting Diabetes if I slip up on my diet and exercise regimen? Exercise has a way of slipping off often though I try to get it back on track.
Jowar flour is NOT good, if you had Gestational Diabetes!
I love how smart Cyrus is
Started to cry Bs 😢
I love ❤️ ❤❤❤ to hear stories like that
Hi Chuck and Cyrus from Johannesburg South Africa 👍💕
The Energy is off the Charts Keep it Going a National Treasure.
I learned to bring an insulated tote full of cooked hot potatoes along with me. I'd just keep them in my car and when I was headed home for the day, my potatoes were ready for me, and still warm. The first thing I did was eat three or four of them, and I completely lost the urge to get food at my (former) favorite restaurant, Wendy's. Ironically enough, Wendy's always served baked potatoes, but they always took longer to be ready than the sandwiches...so I never ate them there.
Nice idea! Preparation is key for success in many things, including our food prep.
You are both so passionate! Love it!❤
Hi! You gave me hope.Do you have a transcript of your talk doctor? Thanks.God bless you for sharing.
Love chucks shirt and tie colors🌴🌴🌞🌞 I lost many of my sisters to that horrible diabetes including my mother😱thank you for all the great information 😇
I'm so sorry for your tremendous losses! Terrible. 😭🙏💐
Great interview!
Thanks for doing this, it really helps me keep going.
If eating a big salad with a lot of greens just takes too long is it ok to make it a smoothie/ liquid.
Thank you Chuck
Dr. Cyrus Khambatta is from PARSI RELIGION and I am extremely happy and proud of him. Thanks 🙏
I reversed my type 2 with plant based, but I made all the classic mistakes on my way. Vegan keto gave me fast weight loss but increased insulin resistance and I couldn’t eat any fruit or legumes. I got my weight loss fast but I was boxed in and couldn’t kick chronic pain. I eventually got out of that mess by going raw vegan and back to best practices. I beat chronic pain and diabetes 2 with raw plants. Whew!
Hello Doctor Cyrus I am a Vegon. I were doing smoothie my blood sugar were 124 the Doctor put me on Glimpses I am a fat person I am not on medication because all of all of my Doctor retired
This is encouraging to me. I am in process to healing.
I'm 135lbs in weight which makes me very slim and most morning I have a high reading although sometimes it drops in the day. I used to panic I'm glad to hear you said I don't need to. Lorice from Jamaica
I've been eating a WFPB diet for several months. My recent blood work showed huge improvements in many areas, especially kidney function, went from 60% to 75%! BUT, my A1C also went up from 5.2 to 5.6. I was shocked. After listening here I now know why, I'm under weight and have been adding lots of extra fat trying to gain weight. I'm excited to try the low fat correction. Thank you!

Thank you.👌🏻
good Dr. Cyrus
As a type 1 diabetic, is the plant based diet a little more effective, or still extremely more effective than the low carb steady exercise life style? I do understand that exercise is a must in every life style.
This is timely. I've been plant based for a while now and my a1c was fine but in the past 4 months its really gone up. So much so that my doctor wanted me back on metformin. I think with the stress I've gone through lately combined with emotional eating really took a toll. Sometimes when you feel really healthy again it's hard to remember you actually do have a disease that will require lifelong management. 😵💫
(My doctor really wants me to stay plant based. I've lost over 50 lbs, my bloodwork is great, I just need to avoid those refined carbs. Who knew tortillas were a comfort food?)
Are you keeping you fat below 30 grams per day, every day?
@@lf7065 I haven't been. Past few months I've been eating more fat and refined flours. : / I need to get back to those good old whole foods again.
The refined flours aren't the problem, just the extra fat. Refined isn't bad without bad ingredients added. Cooked potatoes are refined even without added fat.
There is nothing wrong with tortillas, at least if they are non gmo and have no added oils and preservatives.
@@jennymunday7913 You can do it. One day at a time. 🙂🌱
I am vegan but let’s stop right now. Every diet that contains a lot of fiber: mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, dash, even plant based paleo, pescatarian, plant predominant keto will lower A1C, LDL, tryglicerides, blood glucose. I love Cyrus and Robbie and their work is amazing but it is not the only method of treating and reversing diabetes. There are so many reasons to be vegan but you don’t have to be vegan to be optimally healthy. I would also argue it is easier to be optimally healthy on 85% plant based diet with addition of small blue fish couple of times a week and maybe couple of eggs a weeks. I am vegan for the animals. If I wanted to do it for my health I would include some small amounts of animal products and save some money on supplements.
U look sooo good cyrus like almighty Ravana❣️ but i feel so afraid & uncomfortable & quite intimidating 2see yr big framed, bald, huge round eyes & voice. Are u a zorashtra ian like my khambatta friend dear? Plz smile more..n take it easy healthwise too👌🙇🏻♀️
I believe i can be vegan and occasionally eat meat or fish if I would believe it improved my health and it’s many ways not having diabetes 2 but according to science saturated animal fat is considered the main cause of diabetes 2
@@doddsalfa no, excess body fat is the main cause of t2d
@@metalrunner4398 no,a lot of thin people with diabetes 2
@@doddsalfa very very few and those are almost exclusively strong genetics related diseases. You don’t see any diabetes among crazy carnivore cult. Of course they will die of colon cancer but they have zero diabetes rates.
So what do you eat and can you have carbs from plants like corn or hominy to get your carb fix?
There is a Black rice named “Black Pearl” “gourmet rice” grown Lundberg family farms. It is also organic. I looked on package insert & has 3gms fiber per dry .25 cup. This is more fiber 34:31 than brown rice which has
2gms.fiber. So, actually it does have more fiber. Lundberg Farms is a CA farm. There is a black wild rice found in MN. The American Indians once harvested this rice. It is quite good. Btw, I love the Jasmine Thai brown rice. I used to eat white rice but it has no fiber so I switched to Thai brown rice.
If my C peptide was 0.97 but the labs say in range, what should we go by? Because he said 0 to 1 is low but the lab says in range? Also can C peptide go up? Because a few months later for some reason it was taken again at a different lab and this time it was 1.7 and said in range as well. So do we go by what the lab says or what your guest says?
My mom was 78 and on 4 diabetes drugs, for T2D. The more she trended toward the diet recommended by Cyrus and Robbie (Barbaro), the more frequently she had low blood sugars, necessitating the withdrawal of one medication after another. Now she takes a daily long acting insulin, and occasionally needs a Metformin if her glucose goes over 200 (usually from too much bread, truth be told.) Her A1c is now 5.7 to 6.5, which is well within a desirable range for someone her age and with her history. She can still raise her A1c by overeating calories from starch, but she has far more control, and will never be seriously ill from diabetes again. She likely has "type 1 and 1/2" diabetes, as McDougall calls it, but it's under control with minimal pharmaceutical intervention.
She occasionally has a fish filet, or some red meat, and sure enough....every time she eats a fatty meaty meal, her blood glucose runs high for about 3 days. If she eats a single plate of red beans and rice make with pork sausage (my brother cooks it, but I just about broke him of the habit) and when she eats that, her glucose predictably rises high enough to need Metformin every day for 3 days, by which time the glucose normalizes following the proper diet. But, it's remarkable; a single meal will impact her diabetes control for a full 72 hours. That's the time needed for her body to recover from it, so it's a good lesson for anyone who has the mindset of "this little bit won't hurt me" moderation.
a glucose over 200 is uncontrolled diabetes. it will absolutely cause complications. also it will further damage the pancreas.
@@sharkair2839 A fasting glucose, yes. Her fasting glucose is about 80.
@@peter5.056 a glucose spike is considered 30 points. to go from 80 to 110 is not a problem. but 80 to 200?
that is doing serious damage.
@@sharkair2839 200 is not that seriously high. Her blood sugar spikes used to be 400 - 500 mg/dL, so we simply don't worry about piddly little spikes in the 160 to 200 range. Anything over 200 and she takes a Metformin to bring it right down, but we need to dose it carefully, to not give her hypoglycemia.
@@peter5.056 that's awesome, i can now eat pizza and beer. she's 78? chances are likely she has had cataract surgery? if so, ask her eye surgeon if a spike of 120 points is safe for the tiny blood vessels in her eye's.
How long is it before you see if it working?
I am 76 years old. Diabetic for more than 10 years. On Oral Meds. Vegetarian.
What should I eat to reverse my diabetes. Thank you.
Hi from Massachusetts.
What is your opinion on parboiled rice for diabetics?
Can you please elaborate on c-peptide levels? The levels you mentioned in here little confusing, whether those numbers are fasting numbers or after the meal. What is the correct time to test for C-peptide. Is it before or after the meal? Please elaborate.

Hi can I drink Alma juice to help with my blood sugar?
Wow doctor amazing 😎😎😎
What is your opinion about replacing rice with quina..
Do "normal" blood glucose levels vary for different age groups? 🤔
What is a pre- diabetic number ? Mine was 5.6
What do it mean when your Blood Glucose is 80 something to 100 and something every morning when you check your blood glucose level from that night to the morning when you get up.

Tell us the food to eat
Like @LeeAnnah's Creations I had SEVERE hypoglycemia for years when I was not diabetic. Something blew in my body's ability to control my blood sugar after a bad choice of Thanksgiving dinner in Nov. 2010. It took me about 3 years to get my system more stable. It was awful. I actually suspect my liver was a huge part of the problem, not necessarily my pancreas. I think my liver wasn't able to pump out glucose when needed to keep my blood sugar up. Granted, my blood sugar would skyrocket after certain meals and then drop 120 points on it's own QUICKLY making me get super sick. I suspected I might have an insulinoma but didn't have one, thankfully.
One of the reasons I suspect my liver was not working right is that one day during my 3 years of struggle, I decided to try to have a glass of wine. I had ingested maybe 2 oz. of it (not even sure THAT much) and got slurring my speech, stumbling drunk! I was blotto! It "should" have been impossible to be drunk on that tiny amount of wine, but I was. My body totally overreacted.
How did you manage to get away from that overreaction of your body? I am also experiencing the same with a little wine. Even the slightest sugar on a spoon or a spoon being accidentally taken from the potato pot into my greens would leave me with burning sensations throughout my whole body.
I purchase your book of Amazon and I’m enjoying it Annabelle,South Carolina 3:17
I just love Cyrus and I'm just wondering I was suggested to me that I get a glucose continuous monitor continuous glucose monitor whatever it is And I'm just wondering what your opinion is on those are they safe forther accurate is it something I should do or just stick to the A1C and fingerpricking
I am not a medical professional. I have T2D and use a CGM. This is strictly my personal experience. It's a game changer for me. I have no issues with safety. It's painless to apply, perhaps a little startling at first as the mechanism is spring-loaded and makes a sound when you apply it. After the first few days I forgot it was there, I didn't feel it at all. The adhesive pulls a little like a really good bandage. I've found it to be very accurate, a few points within a fingerstick when levels are steady. There is a delay due to the location so the sensor is about 15 minutes behind if there's a rapid change.
The beauty of it is you get *continuous* readings. The sensor stores 8 hours of data and when you take a reading it downloads it onto the reader. You get all kinds of analysis: average glucose over different time periods (7-90 days), averages over 6 hour windows, so 12am-6am, etc., graphs, time in target, low glucose events, the ability to mark meals, meds and exercise and that's just on the reader. You can upload the data online and keep all your info and generate reports for any time period you choose. You can share it with your doctor so they have access to the information. A fingerstick is a snapshot-a moment in time that can be influenced by a dozen things. This gives you your values over the whole day. Not even the same thing. They do want you to do a few fingersticks with each new sensor to calibrate it. Truthfully, I don't bother but when I do check the values are very close.
This has made all the difference for me. Not only is it vitally important if you go low so you can act quickly, you can set the alarms to whatever you like. My sugar used to drop fast so I set the lower limit to head off low events. It will tell you if the change is critical, fast or steady. But the biggest help was twofold: one, it made me very aware of what my readings were all day so it was great feedback and motivation. I made better choices because if it didn't the darned thing would 'scold' me. Two, it helped me see which foods were causing spikes and how I could make changes. You get to make real-time decisions and get instant feedback. I can watch my sugar go up with one type of porridge and be more level with another. I can watch my sugar drop with exercise. It makes you more connected to your body and your reaction to food and exercise and more in control of your condition.
It's kept me on track to make better choices. I've dropped weight, stopped one oral medication, I'm off insulin completely AND my a1c is in the 'not diabetic' range. I can't say enough good about it. But, you have to wear it, you have to check it and you have to make good choices based on your readings. It won't make you better by itself but it will give you the information to make yourself better.
JMHO, but if you can get it, do it. They're not cheap but if more acquired diabetics got one and paid attention to it this condition would be a distant memory.
I am very slim but was told that I am pre-diabetic. I don't want to loose any more weight. How do I stay within a stable weight and still maintain my blood sugar and keep my A1C below 5.7
Plant based have low fats without nuts, avacado, oils and what not. How can we get the necessary amount fats that we need in our diet?
Will this plant diet help get rid of neuropathy ???
Great
Amazing 😻 BS
Hi Chuck and Cyrus. I have lowered my A1c from 6.8 to 5.1. I have been following a plant based diet for 7 months. My fasting labs are still elevated. Last one was 107. It keeps going down but can’t get it below 100. Have lost 35 lbs. If using the BMI calculator, it still shows being overweight. I’m 4’ 7. Is there still hope to get it below 100?
Do you exercise every day? Do you stop eating foods 4-6 hours before bedtime? These all help with morning blood sugars. 🙂🌱
I don't work out every day and I do not always finish eating 4 hours or longer before going to bed and my fasting blood sugar is still always below 90.
I walk 4-5 days a week. About 3 miles a day. Sometimes I don’t get home until around 7 so don’t eat dinner until around that time.

That's upsetting about sticky rice causing more spikes. I much prefer short/medium grain rices that clump together.
