I’m pretty sure the iPad 4th generation can OTA downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 8.4.1. My OTA downgrade video only shows downgrading to 10.3.3 but you can do the exact same with an older ipsw such as iOS 6.1.3 ipsw for iPads.
iPadOS 17 brought back the old wallpaper first introduced with the first iPad which shipped on iOS 3.2. If I can recall correctly, iOS 13 shipped with widgets though I might be wrong.
I have many iPads from 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018. Most of which I use multiple times per month. Especially my 2012 iPad mini 1st gen which is for music playback. Does a fantastic job.
iPad was released in early 2010, by that time, the latest version of iOS was iOS 3.X so the iPad shipped in the middle came with iOS 3.2, it was renamed to iPadOS in 2019 with iPadOS 13.
There’s no iPadOS 1 because iPads are made in 2010, and then the last iOS version was iOS 3, so then Apple put iOS 3 on the first iPads. Thanks for understanding.
