    I always think to myself in the early stages ..."It's a marathon, not a sprint". It kind of goes along with your Tip #1, but it's helpful to think about. Lose the small pots, and win the big ones...like the strategy videos, and LOVE the vlog. Keep it up!

    Hi Daniel. In tournament play, I almost always c-bet if I raised pre-flop. If I am check-called, then what should I consider before firing another barrel on the turn, if I still haven't hit anything on the board? Would a "small ball" player just usually check back here, or usually c-bet again? And what are the main things that decision depends on?

    I confuse the heck out of people in my local tournaments. Always changing it up. When I appear to be playing tight can easily bluff checked pots. Or I appear to be folding on every raise and guy in position tries to bully me out. Poker is a grind. Their is about 300 regular people at my tournaments and I have notes on 70 percent of them. Yes I'm a dork I bring a notebook and summarize the players during the break.

  • @the-chillian
    @the-chillian Před 7 lety

    Thanks Daniel! But frankly, unless I get very, very lucky I will never play at the WSOP ME. The only multi-day tournaments I've ever entered were the main events at Jason Somerville's RIU Reno. (And I've done absolutely lousy.)
    However, funny you should mention the Bay 101 WPT, because the next tournament I play in will probably be a satellite to that. It's structured like their daily tournaments, with 15 or 20 minute levels. (Can't remember which right now.) I'm thinking this may be the sort of tournament most of your US viewers who can only play live are most likely to enter. Given that I can probably only justify the expense of 2 bullets at most, how should the early levels be played in that case?
    (I haven't done spectacularly well at Bay 101's dailies, but I can't get down there to play them too often either. So it might not be just that I suck.)

    Hi Daniel. This is unrelated to the video, but since you seem to be answering questions, here goes: I've decided to become a vegan. Would you suggest one should become vegan overnight, or is the risk of a setback so big that a slower transition is a smarter idea? What did you do? And is there any cookbook or learning ressource which you would recommend?

    Interesting, because in your book ( power holdem strategy "you" suggest to go all in against advanced player's aggressive play in the early stages. ( It's in the first chapter)Now what? 🧐🤔

    • @TheSpyBaby
      @TheSpyBaby Před 4 lety

      I'm no poker pro, but my guess is that the advanced player is more likely to know you should not be going all-in in the early stages since they can bust you the tournament but not win you the tournament. This means you can exploit them by making them fold more often.

    • @DougieBarclay

      Yes mate, the 30-minute snippet when you were talking to Rikard Aberg about the prospect of the "bottom falling out of the online poker ecosystem" justifying a rake increase to balance the tiers. C'mon Dan, we're not fools. It came across as disingenuous. To defend it was maybe an under-sight, but it speaks volumes when you're not recanting your statement.
      This is what the entire community is up in arms about. Not that you explicitly said games should be raked higher, but that you didn't speak up against it. I guess what makes it worse is how you're perceived as the white-knight for the underlings in the poker world due to your humility and morals, yet coincidentally you're the face of Stars and highlighting the benefits of the rake increase.
      I guess what I'm trying to say is- just because global warming allows for sunnier days, doesn't mean it's a good thing.
      You have a lovely day too.

    • @jamesrosa3623
      @jamesrosa3623 Před 6 lety +1

      I have to give the man the benefit of the doubt at this point. He's come out on a lot of topics and sometimes he's in the minority but he's always given solid advice and opinions. He's connection to Stars is obviously a bit of a problem. It's tough to make the argument that he doesn't have a dog in the fight. I will say this, you have to look into what he said. Even Doug Polk, who apparently completely disagreed with Daniel said he made some solid points in a follow up. I guess my conclusion is you have to take what he says on the subject with a grain of salt because of the affiliation but also show a little respect for a long time veteran and one of the great faces of the game.
