    I have a Sebo D4 and it is hands down the best vacuum I have ever had. I’d never again have a Dyson as it very quickly had reduced performance but I think that is expected with any vacuum with no bag.

    Crazy. Just get a Sebo canister with a hardwood nozzle like a parquet. They come bagged and literally no mess. Plus you can get parts for it for the next 20 plus years. Try that with a Dyson, Shark, Eureka. This is comical.

    This is not really an apples to apples comparison.
    The Apex Duoclean is literally made to work on hard floors. (And be discarded every two years, is a nightmare for allergy/mold sufferers, is rarely actually a closed system, needs constant filter management, has plastic parts that easily warp and warranty work is a nightmare). Then there is the fact (mentioned elsewhere) that you both turned it on a second time and also didn't shake it to see if flour fell back out.
    That ancient Sebo? It has no setting for turning the brush off. If you are having excessive kick-back, it must also be missing the sealing strip. (And has standard parts that are easily replaceable by owners, has better warranty terms, infinitely better service and longevity, actually passes a particle test because it is properly filtered.)

  • @davcuts2897
    @davcuts2897 Před rokem +12

    Sebo was the clear winner. You did not do a forward and backward pass with your "winner" like you did with the other vacuums. Instead you turned it off because you where so impressed. You also said Sebo blew flour in the back. We will have to take your word for it, because I saw no flour at all. You also turned the Shark back on after it's backward pass so no flour would fall out like the others. It's also good to note Dyson does not recommend vacuuming flour with some of their vacuums. If you do so you will find your warranty void.

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před rokem +1

      Sebo was not the clear winner. The clear winner was the shark. Not sure if you could see in the video but on the forward pass, the sebo didn’t do well. And it spit a lot out the back of the vacuum. Also the brushroll on the sebo is just too aggressive in my opinion for hard floors. The shark picked up everything in one pass. I have multiple videos of this on my channel. Soft roller vacuums can pick up any bring with ease on hard floors. I have a lot of respect for the sebo brand but I truthfully can’t recommend the X4. It’s so expensive for a mediocre vacuum in my opinion. As for the dyson. These tests aren’t meant to be “realistic”. They are meant to see what a vacuum can do. None of these companies recommend sucking up fine dust into the vacuums. But in moderation it’s okay. And my channel is all about testing these vacuums. In this test the shark apex was the clear winner. Not sure how you had determined the Sebo to win. If you like sebo that’s perfectly fine. But it’s just not a great vacuum that outperforms anything in my experience

    Very interesting and somewhat surprising results. I was not expecting Bissell and Sebo to do good job at all. Well Bissell was worse but still. Both are supposed to be carpet only vacuums. I bet the brushroll in those did the job and also kicked some flour back. In Eurobe this Sebo isn't even recommended for hardfloors. Shark was clearly the best, but my choice would be the Dyson upright because it has the best cyclone design and it did pretty well.
    Well done video👍

    I've been going down the rabbit hole with vacuum testing and reviews. You know what I've learned? THERE IS NO PERFECT VACUUM. It's pretty much impossible because there are so many types of floors, mess, and budgets.
    I have 3 cats, wood floors that have gaps between the planks, low-pile carpet, floor rugs, tile, and a messy husband. What I've deduced from my research is make a list of your must-have's in a vacuum and find a brand/model that fits your top needs and budget.
    I, personally, need to have a vacuum that picks up the clay litter from my wood floor where I keep my 3 litter boxes. I HATE walking on cat litter with bare feet and need a vacuum that will turn into a handheld to suck up the litter daily....yes, I vacuum the floor around the litter boxes every morning. It also needs to be nearly 0% dust producing since I'm allergic to dust. I refuse to buy anything but bagless since my cat's hair would fill a bag in about 10 minutes of vacuuming. With those top 3 requirements, my Shark cordless does the job and I love it that the whole unit will bend in the middle to get under my beds and sofas without needing to get on my hands and knees. It also has a HEPA filter and is bagless. Done!
    I'm finished with my rabbit hole.

    IMO there are problems with this test.
    1. We don't know which Vac has a brushroll and which don't
    2. The Dyson Ball has been run without the brushroll yet some others were running with. Why ? Just because it has a button to turn it OFF ?
    3. Some of the Vac were shaken after the test, yet the Shark Apex was not. Why ?

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před rokem

      Okay I can help clear up some confusion. So all of these machines had brushrolls in them. The dyson ball animal 2 had the brushroll turned off because that’s what dyson recommends. I used all of these mcbaines in their hard floor modes. For the dyson and the purple shark and Miele, it’s turning of the brushroll. For the shark apex, it was slowing the brushroll. The bissell and sebo are lowered to their lowest setting. So yes, however the manufacturer recommends to use them in hard floors, they were used that way in the get. And as for the shark apex not being shaken after the test, this comes down to a matter of imperfectness. I must have forgot to do so when filming this video. However I can say that from what I can remember, as well as knowledge from frailty usuing it and a newer video with the shark stratos versus a dyson on my channel, I can say that the shark doesn’t let anything fall back out of it. There’s nothing for the flour to get stuck on as the brushroll is spinning and the high suction is pulling the dirt through it’s well rounded and designed cleaner head. This is why stuff fell out of the bissell. The cleaner head shape is rectangle and doesn’t have a round insert like the sharks and dysons do. Do it doesn’t do well in that test. I hope this cleared up some of the questions you had. And I never claim to have perfect tests. However I have found all of my tests to be repeatable and mostly accurate. I bring 10 years of experience to this field and I always try to give the best information as a I possibly can.

    • @piezoman79
      @piezoman79 Před rokem +2

      Definitely not a perfect test.
      The dyson was run without the brush roll on and when he brings it back you can see the nozzle is loaded full of flour, but when he’s standing it back up the roller kicks on for a second or two and largely empties the nozzle, so had he turned the machine off before standing it back up it would have dropped most of the flour.
      The shark apex or whatever it is clearly has the advantage with the soft roller running on this smooth floor, but other crevice tests has shown it doesn’t get everything in that case.
      The sebo’s brush is always on I believe, and despite not being recommended for hard floors did pretty dang well in a single pass with just a regular carpet brush.
      Having owned a dyson for many years I’m not impressed with the performance and maintenance required to really operate optimally. I have to empty the canister about 6 times when vacuuming my house because the debris (dog hair) does not pack down. With a bagged machine you can go months without changing the bag because the debris is continuously compressed from the suction.
      I’ve left bagless vacs behind, and even use bags in my shop vacs now, it’s a night and day difference.

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před rokem

      @@piezoman79 bags work better for some people and that’s why they have the option. Bagless certainly isn’t for everyone but it’s definitely worked better for me in my house. And as for the brushroll turning on for a moment when standing it up, that’s something dyson designed. I purposely didn’t turn it off before standing it up because that’s not what you’re supposed to do, nor what dyson recommends. Dyson designed the r roller to turn on for a moment for this exact reason. There was debris caught in the floor nozzle and brushroll. And it turning in for a moment is it’s way of “cleaning itself” just to keep the machine cleaner and make it more effective.

    • @piezoman79
      @piezoman79 Před rokem +1

      @@DillonCleans all reasonable points, but consider that if this is by design for dyson, it still shows that the vacuum is dependent on the brush operating to clear what is otherwise being blocked up by the brush when used as instructed. So, in reality it may not have had enormous consequences in this test, but had you had say 2x the flour to pick up, what would the additional effectiveness impact be after it is plugged up without the use of the brush in operation?
      IOW what may be seen as a ‘feature’ in the context of this test could really be a design flaw in the bigger picture. Clearly it is apparent that it would work far better with the brush spinning at all times, and is why some higher end vacuums rely on use of a straight bare floor tool without a brush present to be an impediment to clear airflow.

    Why do a lot of Vacs do better on their backwards pass than their forward?

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před 2 lety +2

      99% of vacuums are made to only “clean” on their backward pass. Although they can get surface debris on their forward pass. But this is greatly assisted by a soft roller like the apex has. And that’s why it performed so well

All 3 filters can be cleaned with water and I don't need to buy anything extra. I just wish like heck that the attachments were interchangeable among the many models. I have an older Shark cannister vacuum and love the upholstery pet attachment but it doesn't fit the cordless model. • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před rokem

      Ummmmmm well suction isn’t really what’s needed to clean floors. You need suction but airflow is more important. Mieles certainly don’t have the best suction or airflow but they have decent suction and airflow. I own a Miele canister and I like it. But personally I’ve never had a Miele super impress me. I think they are good vacuums but they could do a lot more for that price. But they are well built. And they will last a long time with cheap maintenance. So depending on the model and your circumstances, I would probably not get one. But if you really like them, go for it. They’re great vacuums for certain tasks

  • @thatclothgirl
    @thatclothgirl Před 2 lety

    Ok, now, how would they hold up to cleaning an entire bakery? I need something that can handle about 5 pounds of flour per week. Anything I’ve ever tried dies within about 6 months. Is there a vacuum/filter that can stand up to bakery use?

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  Před 2 lety +1

      So there is kind of no perfect vacuum for this scenario so I will give you two options and you pick whichever one sounds better to you. Pick a shark with duoclean like the apex in the video or a shark vertex or shark stratos. Something with a fluffy roller in the front. The benefit of this is amazing hard floor pickup as shown the the video. It will buff the floor clean and bef every last spec of flower. However there is a downside. Sharks are bagless, so if you don’t wash the filters as needed or if you are overloading then machine with flower, the vacuum could die in a matter of months to a year or 2. Next option is a cloth bagged vacuum. Benefit of this is maintenance. You just fill the bag up, throw it away, put a new one in. Super simple. Low maintenance. And will last a long time if you get a good quality vacuum. I would recommend a Miele or a sebo with a cloth hepa bag. All of them do. However the downside is the performance. It will pick up the majority of the mess, however it may leave a fine layer of flower on the ground and maybe even some bigger specs after sucking up a pile of flower. So you may need to go over the floor with a dust mop for example. So those are my recommendations. If it were up to me, I would use the shark and make sure to maintain it all the time and if it dies just buy a new one. However the bagged vacuum option is a good one as well. Unfortunately there’s just no perfect option.
