- I show you step by step how to change the engine oil in your 2013 Kia Soul. This will apply directly to 2012-2013 Kia Souls and likely there will only be minor differences on other years of Kia Soul.

Being a retired mechanic (journeyman, licensed, and multiple certifications), I hardly ever watch these kinds of videos since many have bad info in them but for anyone looking for a quality procedure that gets it right, this is it. Excellent video Matt!
Thank you! I appreciate hearing that.
I didn't realize how simple oil changes actually are. This video was very informative and the step by step was great. Thank you!
So happy to hear that, hope you can save some money now doing it yourself and then you will be sure it’s done right as well (I hear so many horror stories about quick lubes…) Happy wrenching!🔧
I have a 2013 KIA Soul and use 5W20 Full Synthetic oil which is what is recommended in the owner's manual. Getting ready to change it again. Recommended oil change every 7,500 Miles. Thanks for your video. The 1.6 engine oil capacity is 3.49 US qt (3/3 /) in the manual, I overfilled mine and had to drain some of it out using 4.39 qts
I started changing my oil about 6 months ago and it's easy and saves me some money. Good informative video!
That’s great! It also saves you the hassle of having a lube tech screw up your car, which is actually a pretty common scenario, they always put the new guys on lube duty… Thanks for the feedback.
Very easy to follow tips and great little bits of knowledge! Thank you.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
Thank you! This video just saved me so much time!
That’s great to hear, thanks for your feedback.
Hymie thanks you for the oil change!

Same process I follow, however I don’t fill my filter up before screwing it on. I run WIX filters myself.
Guess who makes Wix filters? (Mann😉)
I'm kind of side eyeing my husband for demanding I take our soul to Jiffy Lube, seeing as we have a car port and tool box 🧐
This seems so easy I may do it myself
Personally I wouldn’t trust my car to a Jiffy Lube, I hear way too many horror stories.
Hi Matt, I have the same year soul (an exclaim) just wondering, do you recommend synthetic or conventional? Or does it even matter? It has about 130000 miles on it, thanks
Depends how you’re using the car, lots of short trips and it takes a long time to get to the next oil change than conventional would probably be better for you. Longer trips or putting on more miles faster and synthetic would be the better option for a longer oil change interval. Synthetic basically just takes longer to break down from heat so you can run it longer, but of course it cost more and oil absorbs moisture overtime so that’s why if you don’t drive much your better to go with conventional and a shorter oil change interval.
👍👍👍👍👍
Is it possible to do the oil change without the Wrench to get the filter off??
Depends how tight the filter is, I have been able to get lots of filters off by hand, this one was super tight actually, so there was no way I would have got it without a wrench.
@@CarswithNash okay thank you and thank you for the fast response!
