  • Discreetly tucked away behind a leafy exterior, Portugal's National Tile Museum is a treasure trove of uniquely #Portuguese #art, #history, #culture. The simple austerity of the Museum's facade belies its riches within.
This 16th century former convent, founded in 1509 by the Queen of #Portugal Eleanor of Aragon, is home to one of the largest and most exquisite #ceramic collections in the world, all of which are distinctly Portuguese.
It's a privilege and pleasure to share the perspective of Museum director Alexandre Pais on the history of Portuguese #Azulejos and the Museum's spectacular collection.

Azulejos give Portugal a warmth and a humanity that you won't find anywhere else. There are some magnificent examples throughout the country. This is a great video. Thanks!

Well said! Alexandre really made clear how the azulejos are emblematic of Portuguese identity, which is ever-evolving! So glad you enjoyed the video!

This is a fantastic amazing museum. They even have a "secret" exhibit that is really remarkable!
