  • We join M.V. Balmoral at Penarth Pier in August 1993 for a cruise to Clevedon and along the Avon Gorge into the floating harbour at Bristol. After leaving Clevedon Balmoral enters the River Avon and passes under the M5 road bridge. We pass Pill on regatta day and continue under the under the Clifton Suspension Bridge and past the former Hotwells landing stage before entering the lock into the floating harbour. Here we see Brunel's S.S. Great Britain before Balmoral turns outside M Shed. In the background we see M.V Lochiel, a former Islay mailboat which had been brought to Bristol as a floating pub. This ship was scrapped in 1995. As we return through the floating harbour we see 0-6-0 saddle tank "Portbury" offering rides along the quay on the Bristol Harbour Railway. After leaving the Avon Balmoral calls at Clevedon Pier with time for a short break ashore. We then return to Penarth where the cruise ends.
