Fossicking for Topaz, O'Briens Creek QLD with Al Broadhurst

  • This is a follow up from a previous video I uploaded "Gemseek Adventures". Al gave me a heap of raw footage that I offline edited which was to become new episodes for the series GA that unfortunately didn't get legs.
So join Al as he fossicks for topaz and other stones and meets some very interesting characters around the picturesque O'Briens Creek South West of Cairns QLD Australia.
Some of the footage is a bit raw but it still captures the essence of what outback Australia has to offer and the 'gems' that can be found.
The original pilot show GemSeek Adventures can be found here

Fantastic production and appreciate the effort. Such a beautiful place and topaz and aquamarine are beautiful.
    Very well filmed.
I was there in 1993 and loved it. I recall the previous owners at mt Surprise store had a huge deep sea blue rough aquamarine and a tennis ball size blue topaz from O'Brien's creek.
Your film has inspired me to go back. Thanks for sharing 👍

So cool, I wish I could go on a tour, but alas I am stuck on this bloody nutritional iv drip 12 hours every day and I have had a guts full of it. Oh well some people have it worse so I’ll grow a sack and accept what I can not change. Great video thank you it does bring relief from my boredom .

Thanks for your feedback... this was only ever a 'offline edit' as explained in the description, so yeah a few longer shots than you'd normally find in a final 'polished cut'... pardon the pun. ✌🏼😊

@@DeepCreekTV It's the singing that put me off. Too cliche, too long. 15 seconds of something more like the intro to ' Diesel and dust ' , just some bass and drums ? . Finding heaps of quartze at O brians and thinking I can do anything I want with it made me a better cutter.

@@DeepCreekTV No mate, I honestly bailed out before the intro music finished. I've been to O Brian's a few times, recognised some of the spots shown, got a 1.5 carat cut teal topaz in my collection; I have an uncut cube of topaz from there. An old timer told me there's two forms of Topaz, the cube shaped stuff is a lesser form that's missing an element or has a simpler crystal structure. Rings true to me, it's clearly Topaz, but just not the same. First time I went there was in 76 with this old guy called Kris Kringle. ( Santa) in an old kombi. Your average rockhound is more likely to be into Fleetwood Mac than country. Cheers.

that kid and his dog at 6.38 would have a dam sore bum if I was there. People enjoy watching the bird life and the peace and quiet and have no tolerance for idiot Parents who allow their kids to behave like this, besides the dog should be on a leash and not running unrestrained. Have some consideration for others !

Yeah…kids need to be banned from adult places IMO haha 😂 I cannot deal because I’m selfish & am not ashamed to admit it, especially when my peace and quiet in nature is at stake!
