Probably ignorant in a different way: mistaking dolphins for sharks. The "playing" she witnessed involved a "they" and wasn't about the shark that bit that guy.
I'm sure Mamma Shark got onto the young shark for playing with his food.. It won't happen again.

Honestly, how long has these people being attack been in Florida? New Smyrna beach is a beach that all long time resident Floridians know we dont get inside those waters. I wouldn't even get my dogs in that water. Its the playground of sharks and although most are small they do get a good bite out of you and bites get infected too. Y'all want to move to FL...get use to sharks, alligators, snakes, hurricanes, guns and mosquitoes. If you can survive all that, then you can live anywhere.

I paddleboard for so many years at new smyrna and one time fell off board as i swam back to board i was bumped by a shark.. still scary remembering that moment.. as i swam back to my board my right hamstring hit the shark he was right up on me..
Sharks enjoying their home, living their best life. Nothing strange or weird about that. Note to humans, if you do not want to get bitten by sharks stay out of the ocean. 🌊 🦈

Listening to her description of "coming up out of the water" and "playing" gave me the idea that she was mistaking dolphins for sharks the times she witnessed that.
Surfed Smyrna a ton from late 70's- 90's saw a lot of sharks but when they would look into this wild eyed southern boys eyes they were sure I would bite back !
