Some of these seem like they'd be more fun (and quiet) if printed in TPU.
Well yeah but most of the mechanism won't work nearly as good or at all in tpu
I’m very new to 3d printing, and I don’t have one. Luckily, my community library has one, and I’m pretty skilled in tinkercad. My first design is on the way. It was a Rubik’s slide style game that measured 5.6 inches by 5.6 inches (approximately)
you should try printing something articulated
it's always cubes of some sort! My first print was in school, it was a companion cube I modeled based on screenshots I took ingame. teacher was imp[ressed, and even though we weren't allowed more than 2 in3 for our test, he did it anyway... at 8. He's a portal nerd lol

The Sping gear would work better with transparent plastic... is there transparent filament for 3D printers or is it all in a color?
Transparent and semitransparent filaments do exist, but there tends to be at least some blurring since it's extruded rather than cast
