If you've never seen glitches in this game before, you're in for a shock. There are some absolutely HUGE ones. Especially the last one of the episode so... Keep your eyes open for that one!

I thought before clicking the video that it was gonna be a bunch of glitches I have already seen, but I actually don't think I have seen any of these besides the vertical screen scrolling glitch. Debug mode is insane on this game! Place many super sonic boxes together and slowly roll into them and sometimes you get a really fun and pretty glitch that crashes your Mega Drive or makes the Sonic & Knuckles only intro with glitches all over it appear 😀 for the glitch shown in the first part of this video only different, as the level starts and Tornado appears die and then place a checkpoint, drop Sonic through it and die again, move into the level for glitchy fun!!

Yeah, also null sprite glitch in Super Mario World. They're all cases of someone holding an unloaded object which is then replaced. Makes me wonder what else he can end up holding.

Wow the ultimate game crash was something I never knew of, but pretty cool to see.
If anyone wants to see a huge list of Sonic 3 glitches, there's a 3 hour playlist with almost all of the glitches in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and normal Sonic 3. Just search Orkal Sonic 3 and you'll find it.
Orkal has been a big help with these glitches you know, he's a great guy!

A whole lot of cool and crazy stuff there, but almost all is a little bit of an exageration...I still know lots of glitches that are not there
Making tall levels by just letting them wrap around is pretty darn clever. Bit of a strange way they coded it though...

Sprites are typically just flipped via code in order to face the direction opposite of the normal sprite. It looks like the bumper enemy somehow casts this property to knuckles when they make contact in this manner. This explains why left facing doesnt cause this glitch.

There's one more glitch which involves in Launch Base Zone.
Grab the lightning shield and make sure you hold it through to the beginning of act 2. Head to the flame shield monitor close to the water, but don't hit the monitor yet. Instead, get close to the monitor, do a simple spindash (no charging) and release it. Don't press any directions either when you're spindashing. If you do it correctly, you'll notice the water will turn completely white for the whole zone. That is, if you end up losing a life, or grab another lightning shield to cancel the glitch.
By the way, this doesn't work with Knuckles, since his path is different.

I encountered some interesting sonic glitches on my old laptop, these kind of glitches are caused but using a not so powerful computer, game being stored on USB and closing the laptop top to pause the game. It’s been a while but I remember playing Sonic 3 under those conditions and angel island when so glitchy you wouldn’t recognise it and Sonic & Tails sprites we’re all jumbled up. Even the music was off.
On another sonic game (Heroes) I was playing as team rose and managed to get the game’s texture palette messed up after pulling the USB out.
I tried playing Wind Waker off a slow SD card on a hacked Wii... Every so often, you'd go through a door and there'd just be nothing there, you fall to your death and THEN the room loads in. Oops!
This game was my childhood in a nutshell. Best of the lot, despite the glitches, and introduces different mechanics of play.
The glitches just add character! It's an epic game. The 3rd in the series is always the one the developers do best in my eyes.

There are exceptions though!

I think what they were going for with the rising platforms in Carnival Night were red helium balloons lifting up the platform. Though the sprites are pretty weird, but very mesmerizing too. I love it.

This video was really interesting! I've seen a lot of videos covering Sonic 3 glitches but almost all of these were new for me. You sure picked the right glitches to show off. Can't wait for part two! :D

Those platforms do look like jam, but I think it's supposed to be balloons, hence the floating physics.

13:44 That's kind of like what I did with Tails before year ago too. Like when I have the locked of items off screen, and have Tails walk, and he appears on the other side. Like in Carnival Night when I need the blocks to open and let me back in, I will have the off screen, make Tails walk into them since they don't exist off screen, and then let's me walk back into them.
This is one of the greatest channels I've come across !

Ah, watching this reminded me of the glitches and oversights series that ORKAL made a long time ago. Seeing a lot of the same glitches on here too.
A lot of the inspiration for this video came from orkal! He's the master of finding the glitches in this game!
The wheel glitch is a harsh glitch though... In CNZ, Do the wheel glitch and then bounce on these rainbow slope bouncers (If you know what it is I will like your comment and fix the name) then as soon as you go off it you will not move but your sprite will be the walking animation. All you can do now is spindash, glide or maybe fly. I've only tried it as sonic. It definitely is kinda like a soft lock
I'll never reach 100 likes. All I get is 1 or 2 and then no more. And a ton of dislikes! Please don't do that! I'll do the same to you!
To do the blue Knuckles glitch, go to the hidden palace in mushroom hill and make sure you have at least 1 super emerald. After that, exit out of there, and enter angle island (you'll need debug mode and soundtest BTW) now go to hidden palace, the one with where you fight Knuckles, but DON'T trigger the boss. Instead, use debug mode to fly over and enter a special stage. Fail it, and you'll be taken to angel island. Once there, use debug mode and follow the water down until the game freezes. It's been stated the game itself needs to reset, but you can do it yourself. Go back into soundtest, and you'll see the number 80, and there you go, you can now use Blue Knuckles.

There's a ton more you can do with the glitches you've shown; just using the screen scroll glitch in Sandopolis alone can break the game so much the game unloads the graphics and you're forced to play through in a black void; or make it assume it's running in demo mode and kicks you back to the title screen whenever the timer hits 0:30; or break the scrolling in the 2P levels.
Similarly, the glitch at the end can be used to teleport to whichever big ring you last collected, and with a very specific order of events you can get stuck in a permanent death loop, simply dying every time the level loads, until you run out of lives and continues. If you're interested in seeing these, the featured video on my channel shows a few hundred of the game's glitches.
I do like the explanations of the glitches in this video, though - it explains the concepts without getting bogged down in technical details, which is always good to see.
I figured the video was already too long for massive complicated looks into the glitches that were shown sorry man!

The Hidden Palace glitch can also be done through debug mode as well. Use debug mode to pan the camera upward, and then place a bunch of upside down springs in a line above the boss fight. You can stand on these and even charge a spin dash. Then just painstakingly have Tails' AI beat Knuckles (his AI will cause him to constantly jump to try to reach Sonic but you can also make him jump yourself) which for me usually takes about a minute. Then the cutscene will be glitched just like in the video!
Sounds like a much, much easier method than the one I showed. It's an incredible glitch though, one of the best!
@@MikeyTaylorGaming the only problem is you need to activate debug with a Game Genie code since you need to reset the console and not have any level data loaded
At the end of Launch Base 1, I was playing as Super Knuckles when I somehow glitches through the wall and ended up in a glitches out part of the zone. Unfortunately there was no way out so I died by time out, but it was pretty interesting.
Also, I've glitched through the floor of the boss battle by jumping down as Super Knuckles. That was just annoying.

This was my first cartridge and when I saw the second glitch I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?! :)
Knew about the lasers as a kid (somehow ma aged to do it once), camera glitch - found it with my sister...we were laughing really hard, when we launched him into the opposite side of the level, lol
I found a glitch where if ur tails u can try to make it to the end of angel island act 1 and at the loop u can reverse the way ur going and then go back to the closest special stage dont get the emerald then go to the boss tails will glitch out and fall through the floor and... well u can see a water fall that's glitched and ur softlocked
There's no glitches at all in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
They're just Dr. Robotnik's dastardly traps.

What happens if you complete the special stage when robotnik steals an inactive super emerald? The same thing? Nothing special?
Nothing special, you get the emerald and then the glitch happens instead of the glitch just happening straight away!
