Hey Ryan, just wanted to let you know your videos really came a long way since back then. It's really impressive what you created in that timeframe.
For a bike with power levels that makes most reviewers giddy and scream with excitement, it would seem B mode would have value in situations where that power could be dangerous. Rainy weather comes to mind.
Jason Williams , love the bike myself and want one but would need to keep it in TC2 and B-mode for awhile all my experience is with a 750 3valve single cylinder. It had between 80-90HP depending on gas altitude temp etc.
@@sterlingross9133 what bike has a 750 single?
I've never ridden neither this or a MT09, but for what I've seen on youtube, B-mode doesn't limit power, only slows the response down, since the bike has ride by wire. So in certain situations, I could see where you would want the most control you can have, even being a noob, and not getting surprised by a less than linear throttle.
@@AlexRib Ride the bike. It never lacks for power in any mode. Never. And B-mode does take 10hp off according to dyno
Thats a great point
that is kind of my dream bike
One of mine, too. ~RyanF9
+FortNine mine too. Bro i just love your work, you are one of the best CZcamsr. keep it up 👌 👍
As it should be, just picked mine up and holy-crap is it amazing.
You get a bike yet man, used value on one of these is great.
The XSR700 is kinda mine. If I was interested in highway riding, it’d be even more so.
Oooh! This is pretty exciting. I've heard quite a bit about the XSR900. Glad to see that you'll be doing bike impressions and reviews Ryan!
Great review, straight to the point and feels honest. You deserve more subscribers!
Loving this bike! Just bought mine, before I bought it saw this video a few times. Thank you for your uploads, always great info and fun to watch 👍🏽
I've had an xsr900 for almost two months now and will always remember the first time I let the throttle flat out. The power kept coming and coming. I want more and more and there always was more!. I couldn't make my hand let go of the throttle. That was the first/only time the phrase "better than sex" made sense.
Did it do a wheelie or a straight up backflip
I GOT A HARLEY AND HAVE NEVER RIDDEN A SPORTS BIKE!! I MUST TRY THIS OUT.
How are you finding it?
Depends on who your partner is I suppose.
Thanks for the intro review on this! I really like the XSR900, ticks a lot of boxes for me! I saw on one but haven't test ridden yet.
Thanks so much for this review, helped me pull the trigger! Had mine for a week and I'm loving it. Really glad you're a tall motovlogger, really helped me make this decision.
Bryon Knopf still loving it?
Found you channel about 2 weeks ago. Fell in love and watched every video you have up. Looking forward to all the new content!
I half expected Ryan to go into full Clarkson mode and shout "POWERRR" at the top of his lungs. Lol.
@2:50 pimp ass house . Sick landscaping
test rode an fz09 and i couldnt stop smiling, came back a couple days later and bought it, great engine, great price
I am hoping you'd do a 2019-2020 version XSR700.
See Motorcyclist commute test of the XSR700 by Zach Courts if you haven't yet. You will be sold if you like the look of the XSR
is there a difference?
@@levi-jb7in 700 has 700cc parallel twin, while 900 has 900cc triple.
Ugh I LOVE Yamaha's FZ/MT/XSR lineup
ooooo yess exactly the video i wanted, love your vids, best bike content on youtube
Great review, nice vid! I own this bike for a few month now and I really like it. I also pretty much agree what he says about the bike, except the part about the horsepower difference in the riding modes. All the riding modes give the same engine power, only the gas response differs. "A" is the most aggresive riding mode, with a very sharp (twitchy) gas respons, standard-mode pretty much says at already and "B" feels a bit slow and odd for my personal favorite.
cool vids man... but i think that you need a bigger helmet lol :P
I got the 700 A2 version and I love it!
Rode my friends around a bit. It's a little rocket ship, and it behaves much better that I expected (all the reviews seem to talk about how twitchy the throttle is and how much power). Gotta say, my 1983 Honda Magna doesn't feel nearly as fast he to the power delivery, but it keeps up pretty damn good. Glad I had tbe experience as it opened my eyes to sport/naked bikes which I generally dislike riding. Good balance of comfort and speed.
This is great! You are one of the best reviewers out there, so please, more of this!
Good review! More bike reviews!
This bike is my New Year's Resolution.
joetca
Still loving it?
I’m thinking about one for my birthday this summer...
My neighborhood in Boucherville...Great vid and review.
Just bought my 900. Does it all for me. 5'7'' nice and comfortable. Sweet motor and Flickable. Just need the weather now!! Great video keep them coming.
How long is your inseam? I noticed the seat is almost 33" high.
Inseam?
You can turn the TCS off while riding. You have to close the throttle and hold the TCS switch up for 3 seconds. Its so that you dont accidentally turn it off.
u deserve 1mil subs (i subbed)
Woo! This is my dream project bike! I specifically want the 60th anniversary edition. I'd love to turn one of these into a sporty scrambler, but with a bit more classic look than the one by Wrenchmonkees.
This neighborhood looks like a place nobody can afford. Exceptional stormwater management facilities though. Very nice.
Come now, weren't also trying to impress us with a very upscale Canadian neighborhood.
I live in that city and he went into the unimpressive road of that area lol.
Stepford wives.
420 pounds and 110 hp of gigidy...fun fun fun. My next toy. Great review as always.
Love this bike so much
Great video
love mine, 2k miles on it
Good review.
You had so much joie de vivre back in 2016.
Excellent review.....superb
A cute street race sleeper...
I like it.
Curious how much would one of those nicer homes you drove past early in the video cost in Canada?
Btw I’m loving all your vids bro. Great job.
How do you like the basehawk? I have it too, and love it. just wish there was a little more abrasion resistance
How does this compare to the CB1000R in terms of overall performance?
B mode is for inclement weather or otherwise poor riding conditions. It brings to bear the full traction control and smooth throttle mapping. Just an FYI for anybody wondering why its there.
I'm just jealous of the "whoooo"s!
Huge difference the way you make videos before.
You are like a 1st grader here and a master today
This is just his first impression video. He posted a full on FortNine quality review of it just one week later
Wow.. Perfect gear
Dude! That's my town!!
What is the name of the town? Seems really nice!
I know this is an old video, I bought the 2017 FZ09 and FZ10 (back in 2017) and I guess at the time the 2016 FZ line had some suspension issues, and some said throttle issues. I personally did not experienced any of those issues on either bike, if anything, the FZ10 even though it weighs about the same as the FZ09, it feels like a completely different motorcycle. my comment on acceleration FZ09: Oh! ok ok... FZ10 Holy Shit!!!. People also forget that you have adjustable suspension and that you should adjust it to your weight. and the throttle, nothing that an ECU flash won't correct. (I didn't have any issues but to each his own). Overall great bikes.
Awesome!
B mode is actually great for beginners and rain if you wanna stay safe and drive safe.
Alin Achim cool! I was wondering.
This bike seem pretty nice and have good reviews in general but it kind of scares me. I’m riding a 550 Nighthawk 1984
I would ride it in B mode until I feel confortable.
Or maybe I should go with the 700 instead..
Yeah I have massive issues with how far the horn is away from the grip position, other than that, I love my 900.
I keep hitting the horn with my winter gloves, but when I need it with my summer gloves, I can't quite get to it in time.
You should review the Street twin. :)
Beautiful neighborhood there
I like this bike and enjoy your videos. I would really like to see you review the new Honda Africa Twin. I'm in the market for a new bike and these are both contenders.
Funny you should ask! Honda is giving me one in mid-September. You'll have to wait a few weeks, but the Africa Twin review *is* coming. ~RyanF9
Last year i was in the same situation, decide between the africa twin and xsr 900. Ended up buying an xsr 900 abarth) \i left the stock handlebars on\. Now i would like an africa twin because my needs change but love the xsr so much that i might buy one next to the xsr and not instead of it.
B mode is well worth it if it's your first "big" bike, if only just for confidence
I just bought a triumph Thruxton 1200 R would be sweet if you could snag one of those from the press team over at triumph and do a review on that!
Your reviews definitely make me believe that you can go anywhere on a bike and it makes me excited to explore Canada!
To change modes and tc and everything just release the gas :)
Nice housing area and nice bike lol
I'm so confused as to whether I want an adventure or a naked, is there any in between?
I rented one on two separate occasion and can vouch that you are positioned like a sail in the wind with those stock bars. Try to go around 160KPH and the wind will make you hold on for dear life! Adding to my difficulty was a lose-fitting jacket. It helped a bit to cinch down the arm and waist straps AND close the vents, but the that wind! Great bike otherwise. The power almost anywhere in the rev range was awesome.
i really like this guy since i was know this channel, from viet nam.
This ( the xsr 700 version ) or a street triple 660. Right now got a 2017 rebel 500
Dude at you talking about? No such thing as xsr700 or street triple 660
@@dirkdiggler7727 ... yes there is
@Randos I'd either decide by dealership or favour the street tripple. The Street Tripple 765 is everybody's darling, hence the 660 suggests to be similarly good
I got an mt09 after riding a rebel for 1000 miles. The rebel was my first bike. You will love an xsr900 or even an mt09
Great review. What do you think of the ducati scrambler? Cheers
How do you like the Kriega R20? I was debating between that and the R25.
I love it. Kriegas are great at compressing down, so I'd choose the R25 if you think you might need the space. ~RyanF9
Have you tried the FJ-09? Awesome bike.
Can you do a review of the helmet Bell bullet please:) thankyouu
It's coming up soon, in the "Most Overpriced Motorcycle Gear" video. Long story short: I hate the Bell Bullitt. ~RyanF9
Do a shot every time he says uh or um (I counted 70). Shot nearly four years ago so it's understandable. Watch a lot of videos, but you're one of the only CZcamsrs I subscribe to.
Yeah but this is his old motovlog format which he doesn't do anymore. Only top-shelf stuff now!
Compliments for the retro helmet. :)
like the bike its a ugly useless pos
Just bought one for my first bike.
Bro u still alive?
Dig the retro helmet to go with the ride.
Wee another video :)
I love the engine, I have the FJ-09 and I ride in A mode pretty much all the time except when I'm in a group ride. And I'm thankful for traction control haha. How are the tires on this model? (Im not sure if they use the same ones as the FJ-09)
Mine had Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S20s. Not my first choice for this bike, but certainly not bad. I'd definitely run 'em bald before putting on something else. How do you like your FJ-09? ~RyanF9
FortNine I love my FJ-09. If it had a better seat and a better windshield it would be the perfect bike (for me)!
great vid. how are you recording your sound? i'm assuming an external recorder?
Yeah - it's a Zoom H4n connected to a lav mic, which I run under the cheek pad in my helmet so it sits inside the chin bar. ~RyanF9
thanks mate, assuming the recorder sits in your jacket? super clear audio, big difference ! high qualities you have sir!
Yep - usually in the inner chest pocket. Thanks! ~RyanF9
Clip on adaptors would be awesome on it to give it a cafe racer stance
Could you get on a Z1000 ??? I would really like to hear your opinion on it ... Cheers in advance whether you can get it or not amazing videos !!! Keep it up !
I'd love to! Not sure if I'll be able to swing it before the snow comes (Canada, eh). But I'll add it to the list anyway. ~RyanF9
how is your shoulder check to the right ????
Does it have an abrupt on off throttle like the FZ-09?
Nope - Yamaha got that sorted out for the XSR900. The new FZ-09 isn't as bad as it used to be, either. ~RyanF9
that helmet 😍
I think that's why (stock riding position) so many people here in JP put drop bars on their XSR900.
The only bike I've ridden is a V Star 1300. I've never actually ridden on pegs!
The XSR900 is calling out to me, but as a newish rider do I need an intermediate step?
Love the bike but why would they off-center the dash, the gas cap, etc....they screwed up the otherwise great MT-9 with an off center dash as well...explain please? Maybe Im looking at it from the wrong perspective?
I really like this kind of retro bike and I'm really interested in buying one but due to German license laws I can only drive bikes up to 48hp at my age...
are there any bikes like this one with 48hp or less that you would recommend?
Does anyone in the comments know a nice, kind of inexpensive bike with that kind of power?
Ducati Sixty2 comes to mind (41hp I think) but it ain't exactly cheap. Used models probably won't be around for a few years either. Have you considered buying a legit 1970s bike? ~RyanF9
What bikes would be suitable to reach the advanced skill level to ride this bike for a beginner with no experience in bike riding but rides mountain bike cross countr and enduro style. Maybe a Honda Rebel?
What is a better intermediate bike this or the xsr700
will you do a review of the LS2 Stream Snake Helmet please really like the looks but want to know if it sits nice and stuff
I like the LS2 Stream a lot. Great value for money - the sun shade is better than you'll find in most expensive helmets. Only downside is it's a bit noisy, but that's par for the course at 120 bucks. Just make sure you have an oval-ish head, and it should sit nice. I love that snake graphic too, by the way. ~RyanF9
wow you are even more awesome then i thought thank you so much :D
Holy shit that cavalier was tailgating HARD
Hey fortnine what do you think about the Triumph Scrambler
As a retro machine, I like it more than this XSR900. The Triumphs know what they are. The XSR is having an identity crisis somewhere between MotoGP and 1969. ~RyanF9
Is it good for 6’3 300lb person
I never noticed this bike until I was a video / articles on a Retro Kit to make it look like a LC-350 RZ-350 in the USA
@t
Cool gloves what are they?
I love this bike but prefer the fz-09. I just don't understand why they don't offer abs like they do on the xsr900 and fj-09...
They offer it in Europe, I think. Fingers crossed the option will jump across the pond. ~RyanF9
Which backpack are you wearing??
It's a Kriega R20. Super comfortable. ~RyanF9
Reminds me of a good old bandit
"B" for beginner maybe? So they dont whiskey throttle into a tree.
No beginner should own this bike
@@bernardschmitt6389 Yea they shouldn't own it, but a beginner may ride it for unusual circumstances. That's probably what yamaha had in mind along with riding the bike in the wet.
Essentially it's an mt09. Love the retro look. And the false tank
nice
Please do more bikeee reviewwss paplissssss
How the hell, have you not done a MT 09 review
What kind of gloves are you wearing?
It's in the infobox.
Alpinestars Oscar Robinson Gloves: www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/alpinestars-oscar-robinson-gloves.html?.com&
Back in the late '70s, Yamaha had an 826cc motorcycle that they marketed as the XS850G, even though they were light about 25ccs. Forty-five years later, their marketing department has gotten even MORE shady by ignoring more than 50ccs? What would have been so wrong with "XSR850"?
What city/neighborhood is this? Beautiful place.
Boucherville, QC! ~RyanF9
Thanks, Ryan. Excellent channel, by the way. Keep up the good work.
