    Brilliant, if you are fitting a 4040, but I'm fitting a 2130 and can't find the dimensions to mark for the pilot holes anywhere. The template is brilliant if you are fitting to the pull side, but if you are fitting to the push side, you're on your own...

    So im kind of training at the moment and we have to install a bunch of these I a few days. My boss is having me watch these videos instead of training me properly and I need hands on to actually understand but thes videos seem to only show 1 way to install this thing.

      That’s frustrating. It’s all in the instructions but they give you instructions to mount 3 different ways so can be kind of confusing.

      You can mount on push side or on pull side. however an EDA arm is only mountable on the push side.

    As far as I can tell you only close the valve in the back of the cylinder on parallel arm applications, why not on the other apps.?

      wondered that myself, but if one wants to mitigate any negligence issues with respect to the warranty or life safety issues, follow the directions to the letter.. anything less and the mfr or plaintiff has a better chance of hanging costs on you.

      @JLD902 Před 10 lety

      Hello there, you can use that valve for any application where the closer is on push side of the door or where you need the backcheck to start earlier in the door swing, (this means you can use it for TJ installs) but best because of warranties, read the installtemplate/instructions to the letter (and the label on the tube of closer)
      I commonly hear of and see right the opposite, user installs the closer and the valve is NOT closed, backcheck starts late in door opening angles.

    Where can I get one of those awesome LCN hex wrenches?

  • @frameriteairdrie578
    @frameriteairdrie578 Před 2 lety +9

    7:07 Unfortunately, the installer Jeff makes a major mistake here. He preloads the unit first, which is correct, but you then should put the arm on parallel to the door so when you release the wrench, the arm will be pushing against the door, almost in it's final position, but it will be under tension. This is called "preloading". But he moves the arm around, unable to find the hole, then finally swings it right out to the same angle as the wrench and puts it on there! Now when he lets go the wrench and the whole arm swings back to its original position, undoing the preloaded tension he had just created. This is covered quite clearly in the 4040XP instructions. The purpose of preloading is so the arm will have enough tension to pull the door shut, even over the last 2 or 3 inches of travel.

      n310ea - If you're going to install a closer in a parallel arm configuration like this one in the video, you should ALWAYS install for 180° door swing even if the door doesn't open that wide, that way there will be less stress on the forearm and shoe.

  • @drseuss8589
    @drseuss8589 Před 2 lety +1

    You should make the 4111 LH and RH universal and charge more for your closers and people will but less but you'll get more prissy and waste less resources and can pay your people more when people screw up and eat a closer and send at least one self tapper with every closer, people take the extra screws and when you come back to do a punch you burn up your own drill bits you buy

    ok these are all great for the complete noob... but one way to accelerate the process for the parallel arm mounting is to find the centerline for the shoe mounting, the center line of the shoe, line up both and put the edge of the shoe at the door edge of the stop and just use your marker to outline the inside of the screw holes and there are no markings once the holes are drilled and the screws run in place. :)

      Your way has to many steps. The template is all set for fast installs. My 35 years doing doors and construction have developed shortcuts to save time and grief. Never a closer to high or low or not square with the door.

    • @cheney512
      @cheney512 Před 5 lety +4

      Todd Stepp It would only be a right hand reverse if the lock is on the pull side of the door. If the lock is on the push side it would be a left hand door. And actually, in this video the door is a left hand reverse due to the fact that the lock cylinder is on the pull side of the door.
