RJ Barrett isn't the most consistent, plus they have finally a solid back up pg with Malachi Flynn, a good SMART rim protector with Precious Achiuwa, and OG Anunoby and they only gave up a 2nd rounder. Barrett is inconsistent, and quickley is good but he wasn't gonna showcase his talent in NY. If anything it's a win win

OG is a15-18 pt. scorer and a very good wing defender, Quickly is a potent scoring PG, RJ is 15 pt. scorer at the small forward. I'd say a win for the Raptors, but maybe a good fit for the Knicks.
I think it's a win-win for both teams. I think they have a good idea that OG is re-signing. Otherwise, they would not have made the trade.

As of now, this looks like a trade that has benefited both sides very well, as the respective players look like better fits on their new teams. In the days since this trade took place, we’re finding that while Immanuel Quickley was very good off the bench, Rose and Thibs knew what kind of player they had in Deuce McBride, which made Quick totally expendable. I was more disappointed in trading RJ than I was with Quick, but there’s no denying right now that OG is just a better fit for how Thibs likes to play. I’m also confident that Leon Rose made this trade with a long term plan already in place to keep OG here long term.

So far it’s a good trade for both teams, who got what they needed. It’s way too early to determine who got the better deal and who got fleeced. Anyone claiming that one team or the other definitely “got fleeced” is being rubbish, short-sighted and is missing the big picture of a long season: (injuries, slumps, other trades and signings, what r the next chess moves?). Only time will tell. Any mature, knowledgeable NBA fan knows this.
OG’d a very underrated player, and I think he’s a good fit for the Knicks. As a Raptors fan I think we got a decent return, but ultimately I think it’s good for both teams.

Everyone thinking the Knicks got fleeced have to be absolute casuals. Fleeced? Seriously, casuals in here. It’s either equal or the Knick’s won that trade. 3 games in, holding teams to an average of 100 ppg, IQ and RJ don’t play D, and the ball sticks with those two. The Knicks needed to open up playing time for the rest of those wings, especially the Nova guys who hustle way more than IQ and RJ. That needed to happen.
Toronto did need a PG and scorer, so they got that too. But when you beat two of the best teams in TWolves and now embarrass 76ers at home, that team got the better of the trade.
They both won. Rj and quickley is better for Torontos offence. OG adds layers to the knicks and brings them to the next level. He doesn’t need the ball in his hand to have a massive impact on the game.
9 straight wins, and they don't need to add a superstar next to OG, they have a superstar in brunson.
Sad to see IQ leave and RJ we all hoped would develop but Knicks made the right move and let’s be honest the two teams are in a lawsuit so if the trade went through it’s only because both sides upgraded OG will be a good fit we needed a stopper and a 3 point shooter IQ might be a regret but that’s what you have to do make tinker around until you get it right. SAS is not a good fan anymore and they will be fine.

OG is an upgrade from RJ , plus IQ is getting over 100 million. The Knicks aren't paying that. Also, the knicks still have 4 1st-round picks this year and 8 that are tradable. They can still make another trade for Dejounte Murray or Donovan Mitchell.
I don’t understand the logic that paying Quickley is that much worse than paying OG who was going to command 40M a year on the open market before this deal.

Nah they won the trade. Quickley a free agent anyway and RJ was dead weight. Love the dude, but anunoby is a lot more complimentary to the Knicks’ game right now. RJ was too much of a ball handler and was average on defense and hustle. Anunoby is above average on defense, his hustle is undeniable, and his catch and shoot ability compliments the ball being in Brunson’s and Randle’s hands. It’s not a surprise that the Knicks are now splashing alllllll of these points since the trade because they don’t have three ball handlers in the starting lineup. Which is also why (sorry to break it to my fellow Knick brethren) spider Mitchell will most likely never be a knick unless Brunson or Randle are included in that deal. As for the knicks of today, they got all the pieces they need to make an admirable run in the playoffs. When you got guys like Divincenzo and Grimes and Hart and even McBride who are all solid defenders and have great catch and shoot ability (and now Anunoby), but you have guys like RJ and Quickley stealing minutes and possessions, you’ll never know what the rest of the depth is capable of. The knicks may target another piece before the trade deadline but even if they don’t, they’re in a pretty great situation as of right now. And the fact that OG doesn’t only want to play in New York but he’ll take a pay cut to make it work?!?! How are the knicks not winners?!?! Tell me how they’ve been fleeced when they can sign Quickley back while swapping RJ for OG if they really want to??? Look at the score board.
